I believe 1.02 was supposed to be the first jan update, and another at the 18th. Like i said before, all pd's comunications were stopped on dec 19-18th, some call coincidence, i call vacation for everybody...
I believe that if we get something before the 18th-ish of this month is just because someone left something in the office and happened to realize the mistake while there.

In an interview Kaz said that there would be two major updates in December and two in January.

So no, 1.02 was not planned for January 1st..

My current course of thinking (which could be just my imagination of course!): Some of the current Seasonals expire next week (16th/17th) so there will be some more seasonals to replace them and the update will be included at the same time. That would make sense to me anyway. I re-iterate this is just my personal opinion and not to be confused with fact, insider-knowledge, crystal ball reading or time machine travelling

How are you so sure about that part?

Niceness-dk re read... We do already have a big update coming in December, and in January there will probably be two big updates. And that’s because there’s a lot of things, such as the unveiling of new cars, which we have no control over.”

Yeah. As the article is written after the 1.01 update I was thinking it like the big update coming in december would be another one. Not just the 1.01-update released at launch. The first update was actually before launch, right? I just don't understand "an update coming in december" as "an update coming before launch.. Which is right now"..

But as always there will be reason to believe both this and that :P clear communication is overrated!

I think the bottom line is that PD did intend to have the SVC go live on 1st January but they have found some major problem in the next update. It also looks to me like they were forced to launch the game by Sony on 6th December to keep sales of PS3 buoyant in the run up to Christmas and this was really before they were ready. This would explain the lack of features compared to GT5 such as B-Spec, Track creator, ability to see friends info on-line etc.

Any comments such as PD are hungover or on holiday or someone typed the date wrong are naive to say the least as PD is a large company not a 3 man band.

Personally I would wager that we don't get two updates in January because of the above but it will be interesting to see if I am correct.

PD needs to fix the freezing bug in the next update!!!!!
I feel totally like

Everytime the game gets FROZEN for some online thing (checking out my friends laptimes in online events for example) or simply getting into the online lobbies screen, lots of times too. I have to restart the game and the PS3 forces a bad shutdown, and needs to check for errors after the forced restart. Coming from someone who isn't a "complainer", this is completely ridiculous and unacceptable, and can even damage the PS3 maybe!!

@NixxxoN

Yeah, GT5 used to do the same thing. I had a brief spell with it not long after launch, then it sort of disappeared altogether. Some people had it start out fine, and then develop issues later on.

At the moment my copy of GT6 is freezing on the second or third "round" of any online activity (inc. seasonals etc.). I'm hoping it'll settle down in future, as it did for GT5. Of course, that probably means it'll probably break for someone who isn't having issues now.

Seems like the plethora and complexity of network configurations people are accessing the "online" services through is causing who ever is in charge with the "online" infrastructure to chase their own tail with their servers' settings.

It doesn't help that PD are obviously collecting data again, causing the game to "phone-home" when it apparently needn't. The "fix" for that is to disable the network connection on the XMB - just unplugging a cable will only make the problems worse. Assuming it's the same as it was for GT5.

The game has frozen on me too while exiting an online room and I really hope this gets fixed in 1.03.

But knowing PD maybe I shouldn't hold high hopes.

I've had a few freezes, two that required restarted the playstation and two that requires exiting the game. An annoyance but nothing major. I have been playing every day since the game was released and on average I have had a freeze once per week. I actually have several games that crash or freeze more often but none of them are PS3 games

I think the fact that the Redbull events didn't get unlocked on the 1st and the sudden outpouring of multiple VGT cars being unveiled at Detriot might be connected.

PD: 3...2...1...and...
Toyota: We might release our VGT car at Detriot
PD: ...but...I thought Volkwagen was the only one.
Subaru: We might release ours, as well
PD:...but the up...
BMW: yeah, we might as well, too....
PD: don't everyone release there's at once.

Kaz mentioned that the unveiling of the cars is up to the manufacturers. So, that would change things up a bit.

There is also Montreal auto salon that starts January 17th. Anything that might show over there of it's a too little market for that?

PD: dang it, now we have to include the sound for these cars, someone bring out the vacuums.

Hopefully it is Monday...

I may be inclined to believe PD was expecting something like this to happen. I mean, where are manufacturers supposed to present what may be their most ambitious concept cars in years? International Auto Salons offer great exposure and, consequentially, the more bang for the buck those manufacturers had to spend on designing said concepts.

The exterior models for the VGT cars are probably already in a release-ready condition; of course they may require some adjustments, as shown by the difference between the AMG VGT we saw in the related trailer and the one we got in game (which looks like the concept car Mercedes presented).

If this has been mentioned I apologize!

Hopefully they will fix the "log in bonus". I have logged in everyday since I got the game and some days it reverses instead of staying at 5 days. The night before it dropped to 4 days, and last night it dropped to 3 days. Very aggravating.

Have you been making sure to manually save the game if you've just logged in and not raced? It doesn't register just on you logging in

On the plus side we now know about when to expect the next two updates. Sometime soon (probably next week) and sometime around the end of January (hmm...Daytona is around the end of the month. Last weekend in January, actually.)

Yeah, I also expect an update in March sometime to coincide with Sebring. We'll see though.

Oh cool...when did any of this happen?

Yes I do different things when I log in. Race and take pictures and other things. I don't just sign on and log in and quit.

It was purely wishful thinking by fans. IT does keep cropping up though. No one has officially announced any VGT plans for Detroit. But, Mercedes didn't announce their plans, either. However there are rumors of Toyota's Supra successor being their VGT car, VW might unveil their Scirocco GTI VGT car, Subaru is also rumored to have their VGT car there, as well. But really, there has been nothing official. I was mainly making light of all the rumors.

Rumors and "heard it through the grapevine" blow up extremely fast on GTPlanet mate. Especially when people are having their patience tried and tested. :sly:

You never know, saying something like "maybe PD will put in a new lunar rover mission" on here, and by the next day it will have transformed into "GT6 will haz SPACE SHUTTLES AND ROCKETS Next update!?!?!" lol

Trouble is they weren't GTPlanet originating rumours. They were found on other websites.
