You can actually here the wind buffeting around the car on interior view! Not to mention more wind noise on the outside!

Regarding the sounds. Just tried the Ford GT40 Mk.I (which sounded good before this update in my opinion). I put a racing exhaust on it and went for a lap at Suzuka. Now it sounds... like a food blender

More precisely, this food blender:

If I smash the wind shield and hang from the windshield frame by my feet hanging head first pulling a gymnastics contortion to look ahead.

What your talking about is the hood cam, even that's not realistic. Really I only use those for replays as if I got a GoPro on the car, never actually driving.

Nope, I'm talking about the "bumper" cam. It's positioned inside the cockpit, at the height of the driver's head and along the center-line of the car. It may still not be realistic, as it's not on the driver's side.

I've tried Lancia delta integrale and I think it sounds worse. too muted and dark sound

wow, sounds got a massive overhaul..all over the place, inlove with cockpit cam now, sounds more like PGR. Apparently took notes from forza on proper track echo and overall sound mix and placement.

Induction noises has overtaken that "vacuum clean whine"

Kind of. The sound is good, it just sounds like a terrible recording. You know when people try to record really loud cars on their phone and it sounds all messy because the poor little camera phone can't deal with the volume? That's what it sounds like to me.

Maybe that's what they were going for, but that's not a particularly pleasant noise to listen to. A race car in the flesh sounds spine tingling, and while the Subaru is identifiable it sounds pretty average compared to what a race broadcast sounds like. I don't expect any game to give the same thrill as standing beside a track, but I think aiming to be able to duplicate a good broadcast from a race isn't too much.

I think overall I'm not that impressed with the sound, but I do like that they're trying new stuff. They should keep it up, because nobody gets it right first time and if they keep iterating then they'll get closer and closer. It's better than reusing the GT4 sound scheme for ten years.

Give it a try in game, or on a high quality video and you'll be able to hear the downshifts pop, but do it from 6th and do it aggressively and not so leisurely. It isn't the biggest improvement but an improvement.

I know what you mean by it sounding like a bad recording, but don't forget it has 591 hp, and boxer engines are quite loud.

I heard it myself, without video (though only used the exterior mic) and heard no pops. I'll try again later with a different type of mic.

I just tried it. It does sound better only in cockpit mode because of the new cockpit sound. I do not think they have a big change (at least not on that car)... still sounds the same as my 2013 Chevrolet SS Nascar.

It seems to my that most cars have a better sound using the force cockpit mic feature. The dynamic range has drastically improved. I feel like I can actually use my 5.1 to its potential.

But basically what it seems like.... PD made the cockpit sound to have the engine, intake, tires, and exhaust sound muffled like how it sounds in real life.

Ummm. Far as camera views go I am sticking with my hood view because I do not like seeing two steering wheels. So I will be using the cockpit sounds on that.
