Update imminent?

Well kids, putting 2 and 2 together I figure an update is about on it's way out the door of PD.

The other day, GTPlanet had an article stating that Kaz said he was waiting on PSN to come back in Japan before putting out an update (of course they get preference :/ ).

Well this morning on Engadget, there was an article saying that PSN was to come back online for all of the Asian markets some time tomorrow.

What say you all? Good hunch? Haven't seen anything posted about it on the forum yet.

No, not soon, ages yet.

Asia is still offline
Korea is still offline
Japan is still offline
All PSN stores are offline.

PSN is not stable enough For A GT5 update, when Japan can't even play GT5 online.

The seasonal event was a nicety. That was automatic scheduled
GTTV is down. (this requires the store)
B-spec remote races are still the same races. (these can be altered with out a patch)

Its way off from release.

Yeah, an update sooooooooooooooon!

PSN Store is still offline and other areas of world as noted above still no PSN!

So an update would be a surprise!

I'm not gonna touch GT until it is released.

If it's just something minor with barely any sort of worth while change, I'm gonna send PD a picture of my middle finger, or leave a burning pile of dog crap on their doorstep.

In regards to the improvedd shuffle, why not make it so it could be categorized? For example:

- Japanese sports cars
- American muscle
- Hybrids... :P

...and etc.

Just my two cents here.

But this is a patch the kazunori actually announced. It's a part of their mod schedule, like the patches before all the cheating fixes. So, there's bound to be something interesting in this one.

Wake up and read the WHOLE original post. He is telling you the site that reported Asian markets are coming back live tomorrow. To add to that the PS blog has reported numerous times that they are shooting for the store to return by the end of the month. Even if they did need the store (which they dont) that is likely only a week away.

Statement in bold is not correct, PSN was not allowed online in Japan because of the government. They wanted Sony to answer questions and give them a good enough retort as to why PSN is secured and ready to go online in Japan. I'm going with since Japan is offline, they also kept the rest of Asia offline.

Although I am not sure why they need the store up to issue a patch, it's more like they would like to send the patch out to all regions and keep all regions up to date to prevent splintering when going online. No idea that you needed the store to do anything GT5 aside from GTTV.

Remember when sites said the store would be up tuesday just gone, IS the Store up. No,
All of Asia will not be back up, OP was wrong.

Are those sites official? PS blog says store up by end of month and I have to think store isn't coming back without Asian markets back live.

I don't think Kotaku are wrong as they quote Sony of Japan,

via Kotaku:

"Today, Sony revealed that starting on May 28, the PlayStation Network and Qriocity will gradually resume in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. South Korea and Hong Kong aren't quite ready to get back online just yet." [Sony JP]

Looking forward to an update, hopefully by this weekend!

No, those sites aren't official, but that is the point. The sites that said the store was going to be back up Tuesday are the same ones saying PSN will be up for Asia tomorrow. I hope they are correct but it is not official and I won't believe it until I see it.

I hope this means the patch will be released next week and I hope it contains some surprises besides just in race saves. If not, then that's okay, I will have a lot of endurance racing to do.

Edit: I don't read Japanese but it looks good to me.:sly:

Maybe an update during the E3 event, trying to "fog" Forza 4 ads OR a DLC with huge content on release date of his rival...

That's what i hope :)

^^ is it official if it's from Sony??

Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (the SCE) is, Sony Network Entertainment International (less SNEI), and Japan from May 28, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand's Qriocity ™ and PlayStation ® Network announced in stages to resume service.

Also, PlayStation ® Network will introduce in the country along Qriocity or a program that supports the protection of your personal information for the views of your ™.

Japan and Asian countries 1 ※ We apologize for any customers are worried, we deeply apologize to you for waiting and service resumed.

I used the translator from Chrome, but that's what it says on Sony Japan's website [HERE]

Right This is what SITEs are supposed to do, go look for OFFICIAL posts. Then translate (chromium translation) them and not just put up a post with no link..

OK so its going back up fine..
Endgadget quote bloomberg which had no source link..

The question becomes did the PSN outage keep PD from releasing the patch when they wanted to, or prevent them from working on the patch due to features being unavailable?

More likely the later as Eutechnyx has stated on their forums that they were unable to test NTG2011 online fixes due to the PSN outage. They also stated that since XBOX Live was still up, they are using the fixes from the online testing on the XBOX and applying them to the PS3 patch.

The reports saying ps store were coming up only said it was a letter to development teams and studios, this is a public release.

See the translated posts above.
