Update imminent?

I would pay 10$ for option to have dedicated button (as for lights, wipers or handbrake - which I never use) to remove HUD in real-time during racing in this steps (press>press>press>press):

> full HUD ON
> upper (times and position) HUD on
> lower (dials and lights) HUD on
> HUD OFF

My plasma would also be extremely grateful.

Also, I would kiss someone if reverse would finally be optioned into shifting-sequence (...3-2-1-N-R) instead of being on dedicated button. But than again, I guess it is matter of tradition..
👍

I don't have a problem with that - it's very realistic!

A lot of people never drive over 100mph even on the road and don't have any idea what it's like even on the autobahn.

Take a stiffened car on the track and it's like someone drilling the back of your head while you drive!

It's not realistic. In a real race car you move with the car. Up & down shake is minimal with a 4 point harness system. There is side to side shake, but nothing like in the game. It just spoils the cockpit view in some cars.

The cockpit view shaking is spot on in GT5, here and it helps a lot in front of my TV (immersion, visual feedback, lots of fun), here. Actually, its´ much worse in real life. I never had a problem in Mazda MX-5, but when I´m driving a Ferrari? Oh yes, it´s well made in GT5.

+1 👍

How 'bout if I wish for a cockpit shake DIAL? Then those that enjoy the 'cockpit shake torture' can turn it up and those of us who want to turn it down can do that.

Your body, head and eyes aren't rigidily mounted to your car.
That's why the shaking in GT5 is excessive, unless it's a "camera" view and not a "driver's eyes" view.
The slow exposure and limited lighting dynamic range make me think it's really intended to be a "camera" view, though.

I disagree from experience...

I am having such a hard time getting used to this on Dirt 3. The Gran Turismo series really has gotten me used to a dedicated button.

Best rally line ever? :P

Japans back up for sure i saw a japanese guy at a drift meet yesterday

Yup, same here.
I think that other parts of Asia are still down though.
I think we should just wait until E3.
I doubt if it's big that they'd release before announcing it at E3.

There's not enough cockpit shake in the kart which I know from experience.

The reason Kaz implemented shake to cars in the first place is because he raced in the 24h Nurburgring race. If he, personally, test drove the karts, we would have seen shaking with the karts.

Also, isn't it the car only that shakes? The road doesn't shake does it? The last time I remember my car shaking like a wooden roller-coaster was with a fully tuned GT-R from the speed it was reaching on the High Speed Ring.

Depending on how much of a daredevil you are, I see at least two maybe three shortcuts in that picture.

Doing those in repeated fashion in a single race, what are the odds of the tires popping. :nervous:

I'm just saying, don't wanna end up like Lightning McQueen on the Piston Cup final. :dopey:

That's fine. However, I disagree with you. From experience...

Agree with your original post about this. You don't get the rediculous up and down shake like in GT5...IF your harnessed in a car properly. Cockpit drives me nuts in GT5, I simply don't use it.

I agree. I'm just counting the days now. Will be racing like I've never done before, tomorrow. I just watched a bunch of Kaz interviews and a 30 min doc about GT that was shot during the development of GT4 Prologue. I've recalled a lot now why I've been so hopeful of PD this whole time.

And, can't forget that Kaz has stated since the release of GT5, that it is still just the start of where PD is taking the virtual driving simulator.

👎 with the naysayers, I say.

That's definitely true. But I think that's the flaw of video games. Really, I've only experienced the insane shake from a select few cars and only when they're highly powered and/or tuned too much.
