Wow...I wasn't expecting to wake up to such awesome news today!!! It was always quite depressing sitting back watching a lot of the other guys from around the world participating in such a wonderful oppurtunity, but finally we get our chance. :)

Full steam ahead! ;)

wow, nice one.. have fun guys and if not already, start to go to gym. :p

Was plannin to do so :) I'm going to get back into mountain biking heavily up until then as a good form of cardio 👍 And also do some other excercises to make it easier to cope with being thrown around in a car

wow, F you PD for leaving out Canada. I was gonna actually put effort into this too.

Afraid that a Canadian might end up winning on American TV are we?

Cool name, stranger... C ya around maybe :)

I can't wait to see where the regions are located.

👍

I seriously can't wait for this. I know I have a shot to make it pretty far, depending on how I warm up to GT5's physics. See you guys out there. :dopey:

Yeah, I remember racing you when I first joined GTP way back when. Very quick. I know I will have to condition myself if I want to even have a glimmer of a hope. When I get GT5 I am going to buy every Nissan first and get a handle for how they drive. With all likelihood we will have to drive something along the lines of a 370z, GTR, GTR GT500 or some tuned version of a Nissan. I just hope they don't choose Indy again. I did not fair well on that track in the TT demo. Something like Laguna would be nice.

I also have to slim down 6'3'' 180lbs is not too bad but my stamina is horrid in it current state. Time for some long bike rides.

I really cannot wait for this. My skills are lacking, but I'm going for it.

I have been driving GTR2 in the rain at night to sharpen my skills. It may not translate directly to GT5 but boy does it make you drive more carefully.

Eh, I'm ok. Can't remember where exactly I finished in the time trial demo, but it was up there. 38th or there about?

Why are you directing your frustration towards PD. Do you know something we don't?

Exciting challange. Good luck to all. 👍

Should we direct it towards America? That last time that happened, the White House burned down.

Seriously, we're being shafted here, considering there have been many great Canadian racing drivers throughout history.

Thank god we won't have to go against some of the EU and Asian players. They absolutely spanked US in the TT demo. I actually feel like I have a chance now. There are still a lot of quick players out there. Hopefully only a few are in the Northeast.

i finished top 3 in three races :)

You were 10th worldwide and the fastest American... so, no, you are not ok. I had a pretty good Tuned car time, something in the 1:36 range. But my stock Z time was terrible, something like 1:50. For some reason I just could not get myself to go faster and as a result I ranked like 200 something. I seem to do better with race cars over stock cars.

No, I wasn't that fast. Wish I was though haha.

I think you'll find that was the British. Advice; never throw powder kegs down a well :)

It's most likely down to the Canadian division of Sony. The reason for not taking part is anyone's guess, but perhaps they have something else planned for Canada.

Who am i supposed to be irked with? Nissan? I hardly think they decide where PD will hold PD's competition.
Sony? I suppose I could direct a little anger at them, since they'll know that Canada isn't as large a market as the states, but that would be ill advised as well. it's not as if they would eb focusing solely on Canada. How hard is it to add that region of drivers? instead of the multiple regions the states have, just give us "Canada". boom. enough. or do it by population, again, good enough.

Instead, they give us the middle finger and laugh. When Canadians set solid times on the leaderboards in prologue as well as any other country.

I'm sure Mexican players feel the same. It's not as if they would be going out of their way. require a passport for any winning players from Canada or Mexico, so you can still hold the main track camp in the states.

How hard is it? if they can organize this, surely they could organize it to include the 2 neighbouring countries?

you yanks sacked york (toronto now) and so we sacked the White House. as I recall, when the first lady cleared out, we ate the dinner she was served and so uncerimoniously left, before we burnt it down.
all in good fun though. if we ever square off again, Canada will retreat to the north, and fight you like Finland fought Russia. we'll freeze you out.

British Military, Canadian(then British North Americans) militia ;)

I wouldn't doubt it would be Sony Canada, possibly under pressure from another division. Either way, I highly doubt we'll get anything :(

Good luck to all the American's here, though!

My point is that you're laying blame directly at PD's door with no solid reason to do so. For all we know, Canada, like many other countries, may have competition laws that could exclude them from this type competiton. Was it also PD'S fault that many european countries also didn't have the chance to take part in the last two GT Academy's? Having at least some knowledge of this, I would have to say no.

I'm pretty sure I was somewhere around 32-38. Set that time using a Sixaxis controller, but my times with a wheel shortly after were close.

Hey Dapper, can you change the title to "USA GT Academy" or something? I got all excited :(

;)

Definitely cool, wish it was available to us Great White Northerners. I've managed a handful of top 100 times in Prologue, and usually don't see many other Canadian names up there.

I'm quite saddened that the contestants must be 18 or older. If one competitor (registed on PSN as 18 or older) is honestly 17 and ultimately wins the first round and so forth, how long would it take for them to find out? If they do, I wonder if they would disqualify him/her merely due to age regardless of the talent.

Sometimes dreams are worth holding on to even if they are only for a chance at the brass ring. My life will be consumed by this challenge and I will truly have to climb into a hole and not come out until I make the cut or go down in the blaze of glory. Chances like this have to be looked at positively and forcefully.

I's too ignorant, can't seem to figure out how  I'll look again though 👍
