I use B-Spec for tuning my vehicles sense I can get consistant driving.

I was thinking of trying that. What do you do, make a change, then go to the world circuits, b-spec about 10 laps in practice of the nurb, then see how he did? I was thinking the exact same thing, the b-spec driver is wasy more consistent than I am. Now I want to try this.

The change may make the AI guy go faster but when you play the setup may not suit your driving style.

i would like to know how you view the race in B spec? is it like the replay style camera modes? or are there new views? (like birds eye or something).

You can view it both in the camera modes and how you would view a race if you were running a-spec. I don't know if they use new views because I generally don't watch my own replays except if something happens in the first two or three turns. I usually view in the race monitor and run the race from there so I can check up on everyone's lap times and stuff.

Does anyone know if you get more points for pressing the overtake button at just key moments as opposed to leaving it in overtake the whole time? Or is it just how many cars you pass regardless of you pressing what when?

I ran the race previously in B-Spec mode but didn't get a higher B-Spec level. You don't earn more points for doing it over and over again. You only get credited for the points your earn higher than previously. I guess I didn't keep track of how I raced in certain events well enough.

Never occurred to me. Thanks for the info. 👍

I'm beginning to wonder if the B Spec abilty goes up faster when you just run alot of different series in different cars, rather than running endurance races. My ability points all went up by 4 when I put my driver in the Sunday Cup and Clubman series, even though I had already run them in A Spec. Seems like the points go up faster when he wins, too.

I think its all a matter of making sure the driver gets to experience all the cars on all that tracks, in as many different race situations as possible. Hence, the course and machine skill. I'm always lagging in battle skills because my driver either starts out front because I don't have the confidence in him to pass a lot of people in a short race or his car is so much more dominant than the AI cars that it doesn't take a lot of skill. All this skill talk reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite. My driver needs bow hunting skills, nunchucku skills, girlfriends want drivers with good skills. Gosh!

im only using bspec so my girl(my bspec driver is a girl cause i said so :) ) gets better. at first, with no training, she sucks ass. on straights when shes going faster than another car she will just go right behind it and bump it/slow down. now that she is somewhat trained she is significantly better. well why am i making her better? because i dont want a crappy driver for the 24 hours....There is no way your going to win it with a untrained driver.

Even in B-spec, the Formula Gran Turismo Championship is impossible to complete. I'm at
85.1% and still can't finish that race in any mode.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I use B-Spec mode in two different ways: Series race and Single race.

On the Singles race, I would put my car at 5/Overtake. When my car gets itself into first place, I would then take it down to either a 4 or 3 depending on the track and leave on Overtake of course. :O I would use 4 if the course is mostly straight or 3 if the track is mostly turns.

On the Series race, I would first race for the 1st box position so it can give my car the leading advantage in the beginning. I first put the car on 5/Overtake on the first lap and then sink it down to 4/Overtake for the rest of the race. Sometimes the track is too difficult for the AI to drive at 4, then I would put it at 3. :O

Someone enlighten me here? Why not just leave the pace on 5 and overtake the whole race? Why make the AI drive your car slower when it can go all out?

When I use B-spec to get money, I always put the settings on 5 and overtake.... and let it run.... of course I'm doing this with a LM race car... don't really care about the points just the prize money.

well like i said early, if you leave it on 5 and overtake the whole race, it's might destory his/her tires because she/he pushed to limits.. so be careful tho, like if it's short race, 5 all the way, but i won't do that to more than 10 laps tho

That's exactly what I do! 👍

I dont have the game yet, but Im going to buy it on 9March ...

but what is A-spec , B-spec ...
does it let your car drive the race without you need to drive yourself? can i find it in a Faq somewhere?

Impossible, I don't think so... I'm on my third race, with two wins and a third place. Make sure you qualify before every race, and tweak your setup if you are not fast enough for the pole.

I B Specced Tokyo, and after starting on the pole, my B Spec Driver just walked away from the field, managing to lap all but the 2nd place driver (who was almost with drafting distance on the final straight).

On Motegi Super Speedway, I again qualified 1st, and let my B Spec driver battle it out. He stayed within the lead pack the entire race, with his position varying anywhere from 1st to 4th, as people kept leapfrogging by using the draft. My pit strategy almost got me the win, because I managed to pull out a small lead on my last stop, but in the final lap, the pack managed to catch my draft and get by, putting my B Spec driver in 3rd. The interval between 1st and 4th was only .5 seconds.

For NY, I qualified 1st (by about 5 seconds) and ran it in A Spec, because this track was not in GT3 and I wanted to learn it better. Won by two laps over everybody.

Next up is High Speed Ring, I think. I'll probably A Spec that one. But any tracks that were in the Formula GT championship in GT3 I plan to B Spec in GT4. Plus Motegi Twin Ring Full, because I hate that track...

back to a question someone asked earlier: what are the most b-spec skill points you can get and what is the max for the 3 categories---> machine skill, course, and battle???

and another thing.....whats the fastest way to earn these points???
:D :D :D :D :D

Well, to get B-Spec skill points you need to use B-Spec alot more. Like me, I have 900 A-Spec points and then something like 7800 B-Spec points.

Are you guys running it on normal speed? Holding L1 and pressing right sets it to 3 speed and it's 3times faster. 24hr endurance should only take 6-8 hours i'm guessing.

Have you ever run more than 10 lap-races?? FFW(x3) is unchecked after Pittin in. 24hr endureance should take >8hr even if using x3 faster.

I'm not sure what you can max out your B-Spec pts or skill pts. I'm sure if you added up all the possible B-Spec races and multiply by 200 that would be your max B-Spec pts, but I'm not sure what the skill pts. max out to. I imagine either 99 or 100. Right now my guy/girl is at: Machine - 75 , Course - 60 , and Battle - 51, with a total of 5794 pts.

It's kind of stalled out because I've been going through doing all the one-make races by spending as little as possible. Trying to save up for an Audi R8. When the field is equal, I still have to do everything in A-Spec.

you can B spec the formula championship and win easily. Except for Laguna Seca, your driver is a moron on Laguna Seca.

You better believe it! My B-Spec'er spent more time in the sand that on the asphalt at Laguna Seca...

I wish that once you pit during an endurance race, your settings would stay the same. "3X" mode isnt' exactly helpful if it resets to realtime each time you pit.

You don't want to leave it on 'Overtake' the entire race. The AI driver doesn't use a proper racing line with it on. He keeps darting from side to side even when there isn't a car around. Well, at least that's what my car did with it on with nobody around him. Your results may vary. I have not timed a lap with it on and off to see if there is a difference in time. I'll give it a try the next time I race in B-Spec.

I did find out today that you CAN override B-Spec's desire to pit. When you see the "P" activate on the screen, just push Circle and it'll deactivate until the next lap (it'll turn back on after he passes the pits). I had to do that today at the end of a race.. it wanted to pit two laps from the end. It was a simple choice.. if my car pitted, I'd lose the race. If I didn't pit, I'd win. So I kept him out there. He got a bit squirrelly toward the end (rear tires all red and stuff), but he held in there.

I also noticed that, even though he had gone "P" those last couple laps, he did NOT do it on the final lap itself. I'm thinking there may be a spot of programming that tells it never to pit on the final lap (makes sense.. the pits are always located near the finish line... don't pit, and you have to go a whopping thirty yards before the race is over).

One thing I don't like about B-Spec pitting, though... is that damn pop-up "What do you want to do?" menu. I mean, the idea is fine and all, but I tested it today.. what happens if you do nothing? Well, I'll tell you: The car sits there. It pulls into it's slot, and it sits there for ten damn seconds waiting for you to push "X". Then, when it finally decides you aren't going to push the button (which is most of the time if you're not even in front of the TV while it's B-speccin'), then it finally clears the menu and goes about the pit stop. That's ten whole seconds that the other five cars are driving. Ten seconds that the first place car (which passed you while your B-Spec driver was getting a Coke) is getting away from you. They should have set it up so the menu vanishes automatically the instant your car comes to rest in the slot, so there's no delay like that. Granted, it's not a problem if you're watching the race, but if you're watching TV while it's driving, or mowing the lawn, or cooking dinner... well, that's time lost, dammit.

in the summary screen or whatever, what the yellow/orange/red arrows that appear above the ai car sometimes?

and it takes some skill. i tried it for the first time tonight because i dont feel like doing 24h of the nurburgring. anyways, my motul pitwork z w/bigger turbo is my best car right now, so im using it. its got sport 3 tires on. i passed everyone, which took about a lap, so he wanted to pit after the first lap. then i got a fairly comfortable lead, set it down to 2. he decides he doesnt need to pit for new tires until right after the pits, so he goes around a whole lap on red tires, spinning in almost every corner, allowing the 2nd place to catch up, then i gotta to level 5 for a while. so once i got back up to pace, i switch it to 3, same deal, just a little bit further along the track. but now, i just leave it on 4, pit every 2 laps, and it works out :)

I believe it indicates that that particular car has a faster time through that sector of the track than the car in front of it. In other words, it's gaining. I've seen it pop up on my car when I was in second, coming out of the pits on fresh tires.. almost two solid laps with that little arrow, gaining a second or two per lap.

Im starting to like B-spec more and more every day. I just e-mailed my girlfriend and asked her to set up B-spec for me on the 4 hour NURB race and im at work. hehehe sorta cheating but oh well. When I get to the 24 hr nurb race there is no way im sitting for that long to win a race.
When I get home the 4 hour one should have about 2 hours finished.

I found a pretty good "system" today (if you have the time for it).

This morning I did the last race in the "1000 Miles!" championship (35 laps at la Sarthe II). Most of the cars are no problem (I'm using a 300SL), but there is one other 300SL out there. If I leave it entirely in the hands of B-Spec, it's always a close race, because the two cars drive almost the same. And, for some reason, my car pits more often than the other one, even though we've got the same laptimes. I dunno.

But today, I had the time, so I started the race in A-Spec. Worked up a lead of about one minute over the other 300SL, and when I pitted on lap 15, I turned it over to Dammit and just let him do his thing. While he didn't expand the lead at all, the lead that I had given him was more than enough for him to cruise around on 2 or 3 and at least maintain the one minute. Easy win. He still can't pass a lapped car unless I tell him to Overtake, though. Hence his name... "Pass him already, Dammit!"

I do like the new tire wear in GT4... my first pit stop was on lap 15.. that's over an hour on one set of tires... they didn't wear out until I'd used almost 3/4 of a tank of gas. Much better than GT3's tire wear, which would have lasted maybe two laps if I was lucky.

And, there was barely a hit on my oil... wasn't it 187 miles in GT3, your oil light came on? I changed it after the series, after one thousand miles, and it was still yellow.. had barely begun to brown.

I did something similar in the Laguna Seca endurance race. I did the first 20 myself then turned it over to B-spec for about 10 laps then I would do another 10. By this time I was 2 laps ahead then I just let B-spec run most of the event. :dopey:

I started the 24 hour NURB race last night while I played Halo 2 then I went to bed for the night. I had my girlfriend put it at x3 every chance she could when she got up this morning and now there is only 1 hour left. :) Cant wait to leave work in an hour and see my prize!!! 👍
