Now double all of that nonsense and you're looking at a 1.5 GHz with atleast 256MB memory and a GeForce 3 or Radeon for UT to run well enough to play it. Forget about those intergrated graphic chipsets like the nForce, I bet it won't even run on them.

I hear you on that one. The only thing I'm lacking on is the processor then. I'm still kicking a 600mhz P3. Though I do have 512k of cache, which is double what any of the current chips have. BAM! (:

I don't see myself shelling out another $1,000+ for a new fangled pixel stomper, though. Maybe if I can build a computer to do actual *work* with, that turns a profit, then maybe. Or if someone else will pay for it.

My system: Athlon XP 2000+ (1.8GHz) GeForce 3 Ti 500 (265Mhz) 512MB DDR PC2100 (555MHz) SB Audigy Gamer. 1024x768x32.

It runs pretty good even without my system being overclocked like it is above. The demo lacks an FPS counter but, I guess it ran about 30-40 FPS with everything maxed out. The lighting effects are good and the player models are very detailed. Though, the textures weren't as sharp as you could get them in Quake III. You get two maps, an outdoor map with cool water effects and trees, and an indoor industrial type map with lighting effects. Up to 3 characters can be selected. The guns are pretty much the same from UT. The music is rather bland, but it looks like you can edit them and switch it with your own music because the files are .ogg vorbis files. The controls are good too, I prefer arrow keys and the mouse. Take a look at some of my screenshots below. Click on them to make them bigger (1024x768).

Yeah, it looks pretty cool. Imagine a GeForce 4 with its extra pixel shaders and all of that crap.

I found out how to measure your fps. There are benchmark demos in the benchmark folder in the main UT directory. Here are my marks with everything maxed out:

I've got cable, and it sure was worth the HALF HOUR download 😈

Let's get some online games going, once you get cable too... :)

The game runs pretty smooth, but it really should have a frames counter.
Maybe I shoud get the fraps thingy..

BTW, I've got almost the same specs as you Viper Zero, exept for my DDR's which is PC2700.. And a Daytona GeForce 3 Ti200 with 128Mb DDR

$5! LOL! I'll give you my power cord for 5 bucks! Seriously though, you could get a GeForce 3 for around $80, not dirt cheap, but cheaper than what I paid for mine. :embarrassed:

I wish I had a 128MB card Clonehead. 128 must be sweet. Mine is only 64.
