Well I saw all these clubs and thought they were all very specific and it seemed that some people were joining for the hell of it. So it occured to me to form a club that everyone will have a common interest in and if there's one person out there that won't like the topic of this club then I'll be damned. So I've decided to form the V8 Fan Club. Any car with a V8 plant is more than welcome here and worth a good mention. If you want to join I'd prefer it if you PM me but if you really cannot be arsed then just ask.
To set the ball rolling: What's your favourite V8 powered car?
I have to many to count, but one that stands above the rest has to be the AC Cobra for me :D .

Well... any powerplant that's utilised properly is just fine by me - doesn't have to be a V-anything.

Best V8 car ever made though is the Ferrari F40.

Edit: And you might like to change your location too. Unless you've been outside in all weathers for the last 9 years, cuddled up to a rapidly degenerating pile of ashes. I have a sense of humour - some people don't...

I never realised the F40 used a V8  ....
Point taken about the location I did wander when I first did it whether it was a it to far so I might just use your suggestion.
So do you want to join?

yeah, V8's rock!!! I feel sorry for people who make unsuccessfull clubs, ever since I made my mini one!!! do i just add something like "Member of the V8 club" in my sig?

Yeah.
Cheers for joining anyways:tup:. :( I'm all alone here j/k.
Considering you're really the first you can be "Gold member of the V8 club" if you want.:)

gatta love the ac cobras 427 v8 one of the best v8s ever made but im a big fan of mustangs 4.6 litre module great powerplant :)

Yeah Mustangs sound fantastic and go like stink. I've seen them show up quite a few modern day cars. They completly wiped the field at Goodwood revival (a race meeting in Britain *for anyone that doesn't know* for classic cars e.g. AC Cobras, Ferrari 250 GTO's, Mustangs, Jaguar E-types etc. etc.) and lapped everyone. They just had the handling and speed. Plus they sounded great as well:)

Count me in! Gotta love the 8 of V 👍.

I downloaded a video off of Kazaa of 3 Firebirds and a Camaro doing a Burnout (or brakestand, whatever) at once, all in a line. Its so awesome, so much smoke, engines roaring,...

ill only drive a V8. i like the old american muscle though. such as 69 chevelle, camaro, trans am. is there still room for me?

Welcome on in Frustrated Palm and SS69.
What's the vid name Frustrated? I might have to get that. They have some good car video's on Kazaa, I downloaded a few but most of them got deleted  :irked: ....

So SS69 is the Chevelle your ride then???
I have to say I don't know my American Muscle cars that well, afew, but I'm always keen on learning :) .
So come on people, your favourite cars powered by V8's???
What are they??

i wish i could afford me a chevelle to drive. im lookin for one in decent shape to restore. but even the crap ones are too much for my high school budget. right now i drive a chevy truck. im trying to find a nice 351 to throw in my dads 1959 F100 though. its no chevy but its more rare.

count me in too.
V8s will ALWAYS be my engine of choice. they are so easy to mod, and the have gobs of torque and hp, een stock. some of them are lame, but if its a v8, there is nothing that cant be solved. hey, as a hot rodder, what do you xpected???? I NEED a V8.
as for my fave V8, it has to be a hemi. next, as the nostalgia freak I am, ill go for the ford flathead. next, for its legend status, the 350 chevy is the universal engine. everyone has one!!!

Cano

do I NEED to have the "member of the V8 club" text on my sig?

Frustrated: I've started downloading the vid, though it's quite a large file for 25 seconds long - that's if O've got the right file. Thanks.

SS69: Well I suppose it could be worse. At least I suppose you've got a V8 under the bonnet of you're truck (coorect me if I'm wrong). Though if you do manage to get your dads F100 sorted, is he going to let you have it, or will he let you do all the hard work and kepp it for himself (which I wouldn't blame him for :p :) ).

Attila: That's a pretty nice car to owning. I would imagine it's certainly probably got enough power to keep you satisfied for some time ;) . I would imagine you can't wait to get it resored and behind the wheel of it. Have you driven it yet, as in just a little test run? The thing that would slightly put me off about it and be too weird for me would be the 3 speed box. IMO that's just few too manyy gears.

Cano: I have to completly agree with you on that. Generally with my experiance with V8's they pretty much all of them seem to be able to preoduce good amounts of power (hp) with equally good amounts with torque, with an engine sound to make any man weep. And as you said they are easy to work with (well compared to most other engines). My dad had a 3.5 litre Rover V8 installed in his 427 replica. Be it's only 900kg, with 190 bhp comming out of the engine it still wasn't enough for him. So he did a little tweaking of his own, added a supercharger and boosted the break up to 300bhp. That's a hell of a lot of horses for a car that weighs only 900 kg. With 300 ft pounds of torque as well.... well enough said. Sounds fantastic as well, especially with the super charger on.
On GT3 if I had to choose between a car with a V6, V12 or V10 whatever or a V8 I would pretty much most of the time go for the V8. They sound soooo good at full chat.:D
BTW also you don't NEED to put it in your sig, but it would be nice if you would, otherwise don't worry about it. :)

yah its a V8 under my hood but its only a 305, id prefer a 350 but 305 isnt bad. the fords gonna be my truck but it needs some work. about the only thing perfect on it is the interior, thats been replaced. it needs some body work but not too much. its straight as hell to be as old as it is. but its just hard finding a motor. i went to the city auction last month and bid on this mercury with a 302 in it. i bid 75 but someone else went to 87. i should have taken the next one. i bet i could have gotten it for 100 if not less. oh well.

a mercury with a 302 for under $100  . I would of definatly gone for it. But then again you don't know what condition it always going to be in. For all you know it just be a pile of bolts under the hood. Right I'm off for three days so see ya all later.

some classes for you, but that "rover" engine in yer dad's engine bay is actually a 350 chevrolet engine. GM sold Rover the tooling for its first gen 350 blocks. now they power land rovers and other such stuff to THIS very day. so yeah, it is easy to see why it was SO easy, your dad worked wth a rebadged 350, the EASIEST engine to work with in the entire world. and Im serious about this.

Cano

and that merc was a good bargain. I owned a 302 for a while. it was in a fairmont wagon. 1982. learned to drive on that car. it ruled. it pulled nicely, and was fairly fast.

Really?!?!?! You learn somthing new everyday that's for sure. Now you mention it, I have a funny feeling that my dad may of told me that before, but can't be sure. But yeah I think it's a great engine.
Also I wish I had a car like the one you started on. Though I'd imagine it could be a little tricky to learn on if you don't know what your doing.:)

yes,. chevy sold the tooling to rover after installing the tooling for the GEN III small block. and yes, its the greatest engine in car history.

Cano

also, well, it wasnt tricky at all, it had power steering and other niceties, so it was like a big humble boat. it was big and the engine was tame, so it was no difficult, but when you wanted to pass some slain or something like that, the little 302 revealed its hiden "grunt"... no much, for sure, but sure enough to pass at will and 100mph cruising.

Well it's better than having some little lame 1.1litre ford engine which I'll bound to have in my Fiesta in my first car:rolleyes: .
I'd love to have a lazy 302, for a starter but probably would have to pay huge insurance on it, over here.

Bog all wrong with a 1.1i Fiesta. I've got a 1.3i I can sell you - £1400, 58,000mi...

O sorry Famine. I wasn't really paying much attention at the time I changed the location, I just thought it was an interesting good change of location that was generally non offencsive. Consider it changed. I didn't really get what you meant by and still really don't, my brain's completly asleep now so not much makes sense to me at the mo.

The fiesta is an alright car to start off with in the UK, but I'd much prefer to start on a 302, but the insurance companies probablly wouldn't be interested if I'd try and insure a 302.

No problemo - I didn't figure you for that sort of guy. It makes sense if you realise that if you WERE in bed with mine, that's where you'd have to have been... :D It's a kind of joke - but not a very funny one...

I've driven Fiestas since passing my test - 8 years now. I've built up a 5 yr no claims discount (70%), saved absolutely buckets of money (the 1.3i averages 50mpg, and isn't exactly a slouch - not land-speed record material, but if you know the light sequences, you're sorted. And roundabouts! What a hoot!).

And now, as a consequence, my insurers will do me a V6 MX-3 (group 15) for £350, or a Supra Twin Turbo (group 19) for £450. Laughing... :D

Sods I still don't get it. Wayyyy tooo tired and past it to get anything now - christ I'm turning into an old man :odd: ....

That's a pretty impressive insurance figure you've got there now. That's really paid off you running that fiesta for so long. So are you goiing to replace it with anything new like a Supra or MX-3???
