Speedo/Tachometer view that I've always used and never had a problem with until they had to mess with the sounds. LOL, I'm all angry about it.

Well you're, figuratively speaking, sitting right on the front bumper. You would hear nothing but wind if you sat there irl lol.

I tried it last night and wasn't impressed. It's better than what it was, but it's still not good.

No your not... your sitting in the drivers seat but without a car... at least thats were PD positioned the camera... In some cars with front exaust you can even see the flames on that camera and the front tyre marks...

Sound dept need a COMPLETE overall, not just some minor tweaking of the same sound file... where is the GRUNT, the ROAR, The EXPLOSIVE Exhaust, The GRINDING GEARS of a real RACECAR??? so disappointing, I guess we will have to wait YEARS to get this in GT6.

How many attempts does it take to get decent car sounds?

I wonder if they really care that much about it....

Take the GT40 Race Car(the old standard one) and let it idle in the pits. If this doesn't get you a little excited then you shouldn't be playing this game.

I see what you are saying, and following that logic I should also very distinctly hear my tires squealing, etc. but that is not the case.

Sounds such as tire squeal and gear whine are greatly muted while sounds like the engines of the other cars have been greatly increased (and wind, which sounds like hissing now). Even driving a time trial I can barely hear my tires squeal until they go into full skid.

I am going to try and delete all the game data and reinstall to see if that fixes it ... I also get some occasional weird buzzing in demonstration mode that was not there before the update.

I don't know if it's just me by I've also noticed the horns are much louder and can hear them from other cars when racing which I can't remember hearing before

Overall I like the improved sounds but is it just me or did the increase in wind noise completely ruin the hood-view, with must cars it has become almost impossible to hear when to shift gear when doing more then x km/h.
I use the hood-view often as I drive lots of different cars and don't want to adapt to right-hand/left-hand drive and premium/standard (Before Spec II) every time I chance car. And I don't like the bumper-view as I don't feel that it provides me with enough information on what the car is doing.

I have not tried hood view but that's what I've notice in bumper cam. I can't hear when to shift at all when other cars are close to me. It's idiotic. They should just standardize the sound no matter what view you are using, and the sound should be what a driver inside the freaking car would hear, not what the camera would hear. So dumb, this is the worst change they have ever made to the game. Hopefully they will fix this soon.

I might be a bit late to the party, but have you guys noticed the sound while driving reverse? Finally you can hear the typical transmission whine. :D

Yes I noticed it on the GT 68 didn't check other cars yet.

Go to the options menu and select Audio, adjust the "Racing Sounds" to about 80-90, that helped tone it down but you can still hear the wind, it just doesn't drown out the engine noise on quieter cars anymore.

Not a big fan of the wind noise on the roof cam but it is more realistic. I always use the roof cam in place of incar. I would rather be using the incar but the angles are usually wrong and head tracking doesn't work in A-spec. I would love to have an option to back down the wind noise.

Look one post above yours. Hope that helps..

PD really needs to give us those level adjustments for everything: tires, tranny, etc. I race in roof view myself and so far, the wind hasn't been a problem to me. The tires sound more distant though.

Another thing I noticed is that my DFGT wheel feels strange now, like they mushed up the center with a kind of half dead zone, or they changed the FFB so it feels less resistive when you steer against the tires. It feels kind of like a spring now in those first few degrees of rotation, and messes me up.

Based on an hour of playing last night, I think PD have improved the car sounds a great deal. I drove the Saleen S7, the Countach QV5000, the Dodge Charger, the Peugeot 908 and F40 and a few others and they all sounded great. Racing in a pack there seems to be more details in the surround sound too, and I must admit the addition of the wind noise on the bumper view hasn't detracted at all from the experience. Certainly it's nowhere near as annoying as GT4's wind noise.

Sounds are horrible now. I can't even hear my own engine to know when to shift during the new seasonal. Whenever I am near other cars I hear their engines which are WAY too loud and drown out mine completely. Add in the wind and I have no audible way to know when to shift. So lame.

I guess I'll have to mess with my surround sound in hopes of actually making my cars engine the one I hear loudest.

Sounds like you just need to add a sports air intake and exhaust to you're unmodified car while racing against modified cars that are louder than your unmodified car that is quieter than the modified cars you are racing against. LOL

Something odd has definitely happened to the sounds. On the whole the engine sounds seem better but some of the cars have gone crazy, and it doesn't seem to be the same cars for everyone. I saw another post saying the Challenger TC was only coming from one side, but mine is fine. However both my 787B and the R92CP I just bought are 90%+ coming from the right channel, the left is just gearbox/diff noise. It switches if I look backwards. Someone had suggested it was all MR cars but my Enzo is correct, haven't tested more MR's yet. Someone else said this happened with a Cobra, I haven't got to that yet either.

The sound from the opponent's cars seems more pronounced, which is good. My '97 Z28 sounds MUCH more full and bassy and like my '96 than before. The sound was similar before but sounded like it was only half-there. Tires are a bit louder than they need to be but that's both good and bad.

This. I had this exact problem with the Toyota Minolta and the Clarion GT-R. I thought it was my TV, because I had a similar problem while playing GT3, and it turns out the cables were loose. This GT5 sound issue appears to be caused by the game.

And we're probably going to be stuck with it for a whole month hooray! Mounting the speakers close together sort of works as a band-aid fix.

I haven't bought the latest dlc pack yet. But comparing two different videos, the Scirocco in GT5 sounds similar to the one in real life. It's very impressing. Does anyone else agree?

Real life:

PD is doing a good job with the engine sounds. They have good audio high quality :)

Has anyone tested the CSL'03 after 2.02?
In my game it sounds worst even from the stock M3, absence of intake and exhaust like ...i don't know.
Is it a bug or something?
I really love GT but this breaks my heart.

For me depending on what cars I'm driving the sound balance is all wrong ie - 787b sounds like the gt concept 08 when looking forward (bumber cam or interior view) but when you look behind the car sounds amazing and front engined cars are the same but the other way round (no exhust note), same for most super cars in the premium range that I've tried, checked premium road cars and most of them sound better as do any of the standard cars regarless of type, did try the STR10 and thought it had stalled it was so quiet.
Its funny, a superloud 787b can be drowed out by a stiff breeze lol
Haven't had the only one channel issue but do find that exterior sounds are too loud

Someone once mentioned the Peugeot 908 sounding a bit rubbish. While I wouldn't use the same word, I do agree I liked the sound better prior to 2.02.
