No they do not, S7 is much more brash sounding than the Viper. Viper also has that racing muffler installed which makes every car so far sound like it has a can of beans in the exhaust. S7 sounds like the Ford GT Spec II, Viper sounds like the Viper Oreca Car a little bit, still can of beans exhaust though.

Yeah, a few cars have the same sound, like the Sauber C9 and the Toyota GT-One for example. I remember some cars had the same sound in GT4 too, so it's not really anything new. I think it's excusable though, Gran Turismo 5 has over 1,000 cars, it's probably very hard to make each car have an individual and unique sound.

Both sound terrible in gt5 so what does it matter.

They sound similar, but the Viper has a V10 and the S7 has a V8.
Wrong sound as usual, like with the Murcielagos that sound like a V10 instead of a V12...

It's ok for the S7 since it's a V8. But comparing with a Viper to see if it has the same sample doesn't make any sense.

First of all, the Viper doesn't have a V8. And unfortunatelly, this Viper has had an incorrect sample since GT2, and worst yet, no exhaust will actually fix it...

I heard that in GT4, the Oreca Viper and S7 sound the same. Though this is true with many other cars than the S7 and Viper. In GT3 the GT40 and Panoz Esparhoweveryouspellit sounded the same. I can think of more examples... In GT1, a fully modified Civic sounds the same as an S13 Silvia K's with Stage 2 turbo. Not that I don't like that growl.

To make this even crazier, GT4's Toyota Minolta sound a lot like a high powered Skyline did in GT2.

I do remember! That's quite a coincidence that both were changed and were given again a same sample. At least the S7 got it right, but the Viper did not... And your're right about the Esperante and GT40 too. Although the GT40 kept its characteristic V8 sample, but the Esperante has now a strange unidentified sample...

With the Oreca Viper, you could imagine it's one of those last GTS-R Vipers that were obligated to use a 6.2L V8 due to restrictions in 2006 for the 24H of Nurburgring.

With the street GTS there is no reason why it should sound like that.

A Lotus Espirit with a racing exhaust also sounds the same.

A lot of cars sound the same with racing exhaust (either by vacuums or some sort of tin materials)... :yuck:

I suspect those who are saying that GT5 cars sound crap are also those who have never played GT1 or GT2.

To me:

Viper - sounds like a really angry UPS truck

S7 - sounds like a modern high-performance 427 V8

This.PD wants do their best from what they have and how they can.

Still better than having them sound like this:

But in reality this is the sound sample they should've given the Viper:
