All four manufacturers in action today.
V8 Supercars’ four manufacturers will hit the tarmac together for the first time today as Erebus Motorsport’s Mercedes-Benz joins its rivals for final aerodynamic parity evaluations.
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, Nissan Altima L33, Ford Falcon FG and Holden Commodore VF will be evaluated side-by-side at the Royal Australian Air Force base in East Sale, Victoria, in a process expected to last three days.
The test should conclude the homologation of all four Car of the Future variants, and follows a similarly extensive five-day test at East Sale between the Nissan, Ford and Holden last November.
The four manufacturers have all undertaken private aero running as part of the homologation process, with Erebus recently adding two days of aero testing at the Oakey Army base near Toowoomba to the shakedown it undertook at Queensland Raceway on January 16th.
Speedcafe.com understands that the Falcon and Commodore prototypes are running in black and white chequered liveries today, while Nissan Motorsport’s Altima is in the factory colour scheme it has worn since its October launch. The E63, which will not be revealed by Erebus until February 14th, is carrying a plain dark grey look.

Also, here's an unofficial list of team’s public unveiling schedule.

Feb 7, Pepsi Max Crew, Melbourne
Feb 11, Holden Racing Team, Melbourne
Feb 12, Garry Rogers Motorsport, Winton
Feb 12, Nissan Motorsport, Melbourne
Feb 13, Supercheap Auto Racing, (N/A)
Feb 14, Red Bull Racing Australia, Sydney
Feb 14, Erebus Motorsport, Sydney
Feb 15, Rod Nash Racing, Sydney
Feb 16, Pre-season V8 test, Sydney Motorsport Park

Looks nice.

On a final note from me about the legalities of the series, what is a REC (Racing Entitlement Contract) and a 'heads of agreement'? It is just another interesting bit of news from this year is the place Dean Fiore is at now. From my research, last year DJR built his Falcon for Triple F and this year Dean is hopeful Dick Johnson will register his REC and that Dean signed a heads of agreement to have his Falcon built and maintained by DJR and that the deal will not become official until the contract is submitted to the governing body.

I just wanted to know what the REC and Heads of Agreement essentially is since we are on the subject of the Falcon.

Its my understanding that the REC and HOA (in short) are there to allow teams to run a 3rd car, My belief is that 1 team can only have 2 car's, under these agreement's it allows teams to run and maintain a car under a rental type of agreement, thus allowing 3-5 car teams,

I see. Steve Johnson is the only DJR car. So I am guessing DJR already have a second DJR pencilled in because if it is true what your saying that it is in place to allow teams to run a third car, as DJR are only to run Steve and possibly Dean this year then surely theirs no problem. Because that takes DJR to the 2-car team. Am I correct?

EDIT: I have just found this on speedcafe.

Dean Fiore will lease his family’s Triple F Racing Entitlements Contract to Dick Johnson Racing in 2013 as he considers a new driving future.

Fiore, who linked with the famous Ford team last year, has opted out of driving under his own REC, preferring to search for an alternate drive either in the V8 Supercars Championship or Carrera Cup.
The terms of the lease deal between Triple F Racing and DJR is for one year.

Confirmation that DJR will field two cars leaves the team searching for a second driver to partner Steve Johnson. Speedcafe.com understands that Steve Owen is in the frame to retain his place at the downsized team in Triple F’s #12 entry.

Fiore says that is comfortable leasing his family’s REC to DJR.

“I can confirm that I’ve lease my REC. I finalised the terms with DJR yesterday,” Fiore told Speedcafe.com.
“DJR has been great to me from the start. I’m good mates with everyone there and as far as I can see, the REC is in safe hands.”

While Fiore won’t compete under his own #12 entry, he says that he will consider remaining in the game. A potential seat that he could land in is at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport’s recently expanded two-car team.
Fiore says that his priority is to remain in the V8 Championship.

“I’m trying to stay in the Main Game, but if I have to do Carrera Cup and endurance stuff, I will,” he said.
“I’m trying my hardest to stay in the game and I’d like to lock something away soon.”

Never actually had anything to do with a 'lease or 'leasing' it appears from what I understand of the term and of what has been said, it isn't anything to do with what I said above. Dean is looking at selling his contract to Steve Owen so that the #12 Falcon will continue running in Dick's team. So it is true that DJR will expand to two cars but it will be Owen (possibly) with Dean's REC.

A Racing Entitlement Contract is basically a grid entry. Because the size of the grid is fixed by V8 Supercars Australia, the RECs are used to control that size. It allows the registered party to compete in races.

:scared:
I'll go. But chances are I won't come back. :p

Cameron McConville relinquishes endurance drive for DSO role
Cameron McConville has replaced Tomas Mezera as the Driving Standards Observer (DSO) for the V8 Supercars Championship.

McConville’s position means that he relinquishes an opportunity to continue as a V8 Supercars endurance driver.
McConville has driven in the past two V8 Supercars endurance seasons with James Courtney at the Holden Racing Team. Greg Murphy has been tipped to replace McConville.

Anyone on GTPlanet got a few extra thousand dollars? R1600Turbo and Spacegoat want to see some races together.

As for that teaser, someone tell Phil Bell! Ring him up!

Put the papers in last week for the time off in May for Austin. Now just have to get my tickets. Doing that this Friday! :D

Stoked about this year. New cars, larger variety of cars, new sponsors, new paint schemes. Going to be EPIC.

When will Red Bull Racing Australia be releasing their new livery?

Perhaps we need a new thread for this, and with a new poll?

Nice. Only 100 days to go 👍

Also: V8 aero testing finished.
V8 Supercars have approved the look of the four marques to take their place on the V8 Supercar grid after six days of intensive aerodynamic testing and evaluation to determine the bodywork and aerodynamic specification of each of the vehicles.

The Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Nissan Altima and Mercedes Benz AMG E63 have been sanctioned for racing following the critical testing period. All four models now have the closest aerodynamic parity of any makes in the history of the sport.

Nissan Motorsport, Erebus Racing, Ford Performance Racing, Holden Racing Team and Red Bull Racing Australia took part in the testing which concluded with the declaration of aerodynamic parity – meaning a level playing field. The testing took place at the Royal Australian Air Force Base East Sale in conjunction with the Australian Defence Force.

The cars, which will be publicly unveiled in the next 10 days, were subject to rigorous testing using the latest technology to measure the comparative downforce and drag of each model.

The four models are within half a per cent of each other in terms of relative aerodynamic efficiency.

There any pictures of the new Mercedes E63 V8 Supercar? Intrigued to see what it looks like.

Well the Merc would appear to have big grill and lights:
