Still, I'm interested to hear Kurt's thought's on the car.

It is all-star weekend so it wouldn't surprise me either!
Busch won't race - there are only 28 cars built under COTF regulations, so there is no car for Busch to race. So unless he is going to replace a regular driver, he can't take part.

Besides, he has commitments to do the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte the weekend of the Austin 400.

Who says he has commitments? I mean sure he is in the All-Star race but nothign says he has to run it (granted would be dumb not to unless you were super slow and had no chance even to keep up). It would be cool if they some how had a few guys from other sports race a little in some extra cars to get some interest from outside fans.

Maybe for a future race. Once the COTF is developed after this season, it would be cool for the North American round to have a couple of guest cars. I wouldn't mind if V8s had a guest car, featuring a Dunlop Series driver, each race race weekend. It could be an added bonus for whoever is the Dunlop Series leader that weekend.

On another note, what say you(anyone) regarding a Manufacturer's Championship in V8s?
It could be awarded as far as race wins not round wins.
100pts for race winning manufacturer
70pts for next highest placing manufacturer
60pts for 3rd placing manufacturer
50pts for final placing manufacturer

With Holden comprising half the field, it is a bit suspect. There could be a purse at the end of the Championship season. It's crazy with what's happening with the CEO and who will actually broadcast the races next season, so there are more important things that need to be dealt with. It's just with 4 manufacturers, other manufacturers looking in may need something more to make them want to promote their product. Would be quite rewarding if Nissan or Erebus were to place high due to failures/race incidents from FPR. Just a thought.

And possibly ruin peoples championships?

It's possible for co-drivers to do that already as Percat has shown last year. Hero to zero.

It's the same for someone like Dean Fiore to ruin Coulthards chance to score valuable points. Even cars that are in 20th place can damage a front runners race. Someone like McLaughlin(however rare this type of driver is) to get experience in the series, helps in the long run.

Its still possible for Cam Mconville to ruin everyone's championship,

Erebus testing upgraded AMG V8 at Morgan Park
Maro Engel is today giving Erebus Motorsport’s major pre-Barbagallo engine upgrade a maiden track hit-out at Morgan Park.
The day, which is also being attended by Dick Johnson Racing and its rookie Chaz Mostert, is the first of two Rookie Tests allocated to the 27-year-old German under the first-year driver rules.
All three Erebus Mercedes entries will run the new-spec engine during the fourth event of the 2013 championship at Barbagallo, Perth, in less than two weeks time.
As previously reported, the engine upgrades see the AMG V8 move from a two to an eight butterfly inlet manifold following the extensive heat-related issues experienced with the marque’s standard system.
That change has seen V8 Supercars insist that Erebus moves from its electronic throttle to a cable, bringing it into line with the remainder of the field.
The alterations have been developed by HWA in Germany and fitted to the team’s existing engines in Erebus’ Queensland workshop.

NASCAR Arrives at COTA
Kurt Busch’s Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet SS NASCAR has arrived at the Circuit of the Americas.
Holden Racing Team’s James Courtney will swap cars with the experienced NASCAR Champion and steer the Chevrolet SS around the circuit ahead of V8 Supercars’ debut at the Austin circuit next month from May 17-19.
Both have expressed excitement at the ‘driver swap’ opportunity, Busch having said driving a V8 Supercar was on his to-do list – click here for comments from Busch.
Courtney has already had the chance to cut laps in the Car of the Future prototype Holden Commodore in the US over the weekend.
The two are joined by Lockwood Racing’s Fabian Coulthard and Australia’s most decorated Supercross rider Chad Reed, who will also test the V8 Supercar at the circuit.
Both V8 Supercar drivers have been on the podium this season – with only nine races completed so far for 2013 – and with Coulthard’s team Brad Jones Racing looking like the ones to beat, the race in Texas will be ever-important for scoring points in the Championship race.
V8 Supercars will contest four 100km sprints at the stunning Austin racetrack with two races on Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19, preceded by a qualifying session each morning.
Friday May 17 features practice sessions and support race activities on track.

It's a shame Mercedes took too long to okay the program. More development time may have seen these systems work better and the E63s quick from the jump. This is sure to give the drivers more confidence knowing the car will be that much more reliable. Question is, which test mule-ahem, HOLDEN!- will get the drive-by-wire before it's fully implemented in the series?

Ain't gonna happen but, do you think Rossi would fair better in the Dunlop Series or the Nationwide Series?

Coulthard was just on Sunrise and they showed clips of the Commodore chasing the SS. He says the track is first rate, world class and can't wait to get racing mid-May.

Wow, American's really do need the biggest of everything, extremely surprised at the size difference between a NASCAR and V8SC,

How cool would it be to have an IROC series using the V8s? Hamilton, Rossi, Earnhardt, Webber, Scott Pruett, Masataka Yanagida or Satoshi Motoyama(Super GT), Paffett, Priaulx,
Plato, Jimmie Johnson, Ambrose, Ingall, Lowndes, Power, Danica Patrick, Whincup, Raikkonen, Lorenzo, Hayden, McNish the list is limitless. Have them run a 4day series at Daytona or CoTA in the off-season.

It's an interesting idea and I'm always excited to see how internationals fair in a V8, but the premise isn't too dissimilar to the Gold Coast 600.

The benefit being , they have their own car and get to finish the race with no driver change. The Gold Coast is cool, though watching the V8s 5 wide into turn 1 at CoTA seems more exciting :)

Well my tickets showed up today for Austin 400! I got email yesterday about them being shipped and they are here, pretty impressive except they shipped them in an evenlop the size of Texas for 2 sets of tickets, then parking passes in another.

Mine say they are in town but "Not due for delivery". Will probably show tomorrow.

Yes, sir! May I have a BMW?

My god, that looks brilliant.

I honestly expected an announcement at Bathurst last year saying BJR were going to Audi for this season,

There has never been anything serious linking BJR to a move to Audi. Most people saw the way Brad Jones campaigned with Audis during the Super Tourer era and assumed he'd make the switch, but that seems to be the source of the rumours.

Brad Jones is also an ambassador for Audi Australia, I believe, but yeah there hasn't really been any serious claims to back up any rumours other than that. I'd love to see Audi on the grid though!

These beauties were waiting for me when I got home. :D

Nice one. 👍

Those looks just like mine! Did yours coming in huge envelop?

I like the parking pass as different colors, lot P for me.

As Eddie put it "They were in a Texas sized envelope".

No parking pass for me, Eddie took care of that so he has it.
