Bloody hell. What a shocking start. Lowndes is a...you know what I mean.:grumpy:

I hope you are not refering to the Skaife/Kelly incident and trying to get Lowndes involved. Todd was right up on the grass on the inside of Skaife at the corner. Lowndes was in front of them on the outside by this stage.

This was a very exciting round! Well, the rest of the year is gonna be boring. I'm really looking forward to the 2005 round.
 
What a fitting way for Lowndes to finish the year and the association with such a 5hithouse team. Engine failure in the last race. We could hear how flat it was as it went past. Sounded like a few cylinders were missing!
To make matters worse, Ingall got second in the championship.
 
Next season will/better be Murphs season :grumpy:
 
Hey, good news for V8 Supercar fans here in the US...Speed starts a line-up of an 8 race coverage schedule this Thursday at 12:00PM (not sure of time zone...) I can't wait. Sure there's a bit of a time delay with this coverage, but they're showing it. There should be some great racing.

I sure will. I "fell in love" with these races last year, and I had to wait all year for them to come around again. But they're here now and I'm counting the days till Thursday! :D

they arnt showing bathurst? damn, that sucks.

but they are showing winton, and queensland was a good one (mainly because i was there, geez it was hot out there)

That is more like a list of drivers who had the better cars.
 
So your saying Geg Murphy had a better car than Russell's SBR machine.

Dude, its not about who had the better car at all. Its just obvious that a team will be matched up by a similaly successful/skilled driver. Your not gonna be the boss of the number 1 team and employ the number 6th driver.

The excuse of giving complete credit to the team and not to the driver is very old (and stupid).

Not sure about Rick Kelly being their though. Never was a fan.
But very suprised that Jason Plato was there.
 
i definately thought ambrose would be in the top three....but the top two drivers both from DTM?!?!? come on, seriously

Of course you need a good driver to complement a good car, but what they have done is get the first few top finishers in the BTCC, ETCC, DTM and V8SC and call them the best touring car drivers in the world. And what of the Skaifes and Lowndes' who have suffered from reiability issues and bad luck who drive as quick and as consistently as any of the others but didn't finish in the top five in their championship. Did Autosport take into account the drivers who drive 5hitboxes and week by week have to take a car by the scruff of it's neck just to get it around the track. I believe the SBR cars were so good this year that Ambrose didn't have to put in as much effort or use as much of his talent as some of the other drivers who's top performances are shadowed by a poor car.

Their list has only three drivers who finished outside the top four of their corresponding championship. It is not acceptable to grab the first few drivers from a few different championships and call them the worlds best touring car drivers.
 
Yeah fair enough. Its a difficult one to seperate driver skill to car&team ability but Skaife (I hate to admit it) should definetly have been there. Not sure about Lowndes. He is good but isnt anything super special unless its wet (hopefully proves me wrong at 888). In the wet, that man is incredible.
 
But in the wet is when the best drivers shine. The car cannot reach it's potential because of the lack of grip on the road so it's up to the driver to get that extra speed out of the car. Lowndes used to beat Skaife convincingly when they were at HRT together. Rob Starr has been the race car engineer for both Lowndes and Skaife and he has said that Lowndes is a far more natural driver who will do some setup work on the car, go and test it for a few laps and call it close enough whereas Skaife will do lap after lap and come back in and change a few things then go back out, test the car, come back in and make some changes, go back out and so on until the car is perfect.
 
Just posting some recent news to see if I could spark up some discussion.
Will Davison, who has had some success in British F3 in recent years and tested with Minardi before christmas, has signed on as the second driver at Team Dynamik alongside Simon Wills.
Meanwhile, Will's brother Alex, who has won Carrera Cup races in Australia and Germany has signed on with Perkins to drive a car in Autobarn sponsorship.
It looks like K-mart are going to move with Murphy to PWR while the Kelly family cars might get Super Cheap Auto. Murphy is keeping the number 51 at PWR while PWR's #16 is going to belong to Tander at the Kelly Racing Team. This gives PWR the numbers 50 and 51 and Kelly Racing 15 and 16. A logical swap really.
There has been rumours that Jeff Grech is out of Holden Motorsport after the appointment of Tom Walkinshaw as head honcho. Grech was not happy about not being consulted at all about bringing Walkinshaw back. Other rumours are saying Walkinshaw will be throwing lots of HSV money at the Kelly Racing Team. Where does this leave Skaife and HRT? Up shyte creek by the sounds of it. Will Skaife still by on the board of directors at HSV? Skaife was bieng groomed to take over John Crennans role at HSV but apparently they don't exactly see eye to eye these days. Could be more downhill for HRT next year.
Former DJR driver Warren Luff has signed up with SBR for the endurance races this year. He will drive a car for Paul Cruikshank racing in the "development series" and jump into the SBR seat for Sandown and Bathurst.
 
wow, from f1 to v8's within a month....damn, it took alex yoong a couple of years to do that :lol:
 
After sponsoring the Konica Series car last year BOC Gases has put their money behind the cars of Brad Jones and John Bowe. The cars are white, blue and red and will run numbers 21 and 12. The team is building a new car but will start the season with last years cars including the car that collided with Jason Plato at Bathurst.
Steven Richards is in danger of missing some races at the beginning of the season due to the V8 Supercar licence laws. Castrol Perkins Racing sold their level one licence to WPS Racing and has decided to race using level two licences leased from Kees Weel and Bap Romano. Since the Weel and Romano licences didn't finish in the top 30 last season, CPR will have to rely on wildcard entries to start the Pukekohe, Barbagallo and Shanghai rounds, all of which are restricted to fields of 30. The races in the last half of the season which also have the 30 car restriction are Surfers Paradise and Symmons Plains but the automatic entries for these rounds are taken from the best 30 cars from the first half of this year instead of last year. The cars affected by this situation are the Perkins cars of Richards and Dumbrell, the Team Dynamik car of Will Davison and the Britek car of Steve Owen while the WPS cars which were pretty average last year get an automatic start because both the Perkins cars finished in the top 30 last year.
Because of Perkins selling his licences to WPS, they are now the owners of the number 11 which has been used by Perkins for so long.
Jim Richards looks like he will be driving for HRT in the endurance races again after knocking back a drive with son Steven. He said Steven had a better chance of winning if he had a regular driver with him.
Super Cheap Auto are sponsoring PWR this year while Kmart have dropped out completley at this stage.
 
A) Murph and Kelly do deserve the "Best Touring Car Drivers" thingy. They are the best V8 drivers, it's just that they have sheite luck most of the time.

B) Pukekohe??? So far there is no Pukekohe. There may be talk of giving it back to Wellington.

Are there any pics of this years team liveries yet???

Rotorua would be better for it. Well for me anyway. It's closer to where I live. The only problem would the smell. The Sulfur :sick:
