Doesn't Triple 8 build cars for Tekno anyway?

Yep, as well as the two Lucas Dumbrell motorsport commodores. I'd imagine if Triple 8 were to field four cars in the future, they would do so with one of those two teams.

Also known as "We putting tarmac everywhere, which will happen to most of the track within next 10 years?"

It looks like it's just retaining walls and some drainage stuff on the pit straight. Didn't look look like too much change.

Oh phew, last thing we need is yet another historic track to lose its character.

Yeah, V8 Supercar circuits only need to meet FIA Grade-2 licencing requirements. They don't need the acres of run-off of Grade-1 circuits.

I imagine they'd get both the RECs LDM are running.

I think this is really Holden trying to consolidate their presence on the grid more than anything else. They've already lost four cars to Nissan and two to Volvo. Brad Jones Racing has explored the possibility of moving to another manufacturer, whilst Maurie Pickering has talked about getting two RECs to run a Nissan customer program - and the two RECs that he probably has the best chance of getting are the Paul Morris Motorsport ones held by Lucas Dumbrell and Tekno. So in a worst-case scenario, Holden could go from having sixteen cars on the grid to just five in the space of two seasons. They've always treated the series as their own property, so they're no doubt anxious to try and hold onto as many cars as possible for as long as possible.

That sounds logical.

I don't know what Ford are going to do as far as Motorsport. They only have the Focus in BTCC, the Fiesta in WRC and the NASCAR Sprint/Nationwide series cars in racing. It's so late in the season for them not to state what they're doing for 2014. And it's definitely too late for another manufacturer and the current new ones to add a few more cars before 2014. I wonder if FPR will just do 2 cars to keep Will and Frosty for one last shot before they bow out.

Reynolds in a Nissan would be quite awesome. :sly:

Ford don't provide funding for BTCC programme.

Just referring to Ford cars in high level Motorsports. I mean, there are Mustangs in the Pirelli series, etc. but, BTCC have had Fords in it from the jump. I guess teams can run Falcons with various bits like what BJR are doing until 2016.

Reynolds would do well there.

Oh, that's easy: they're going to shave every nickel and stretch every dime. Ford want to get as much exposure as possible at the lowest price they can manage. Sometimes it seems like their motorsport divisions are being run by accountants who have no understanding o what motorsport is, other than that it is expensive.

Yeah, I voted No. Clearly, I'm in the minority according to the poll results on Speedcafe, so far.

And this. Erebus committed to three car program.
Customer AMG Mercedes-Benz outfit Erebus Motorsport has played down paddock speculation linking the team to a change in driver line-up and number of entries run in 2014.

The #47 Racing Entitlements Contract (REC) owned by James Rosenberg and run by Erebus Motorsport for Tim Slade is among a number of licenses being linked with moves for 2014, in addition to #12 (Dean Fiore leased to Dick Johnson Racing), #18 (Charlie Schwerkolt run at Ford Performance Racing) and #97 (Paul Morris leased to Tekno Autosports).

Paddock speculation suggests these licenses could be on the move with Rosenberg and Slade possibly switching teams together, while the jockeying for licenses would see Morris returning as a team owner in a possible tie up with Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport and Tekno Autosports purchasing another REC to maintain a two-car presence.

But Erebus Motorsport has played down the rumours, insisting its intention is to hold onto Rosenberg and Slade and retain a three-car line-up for 2014.

"For Erebus the 2013 season was all about change with a new manufacturer, new cars, a new owner and a new driver, and we have worked very hard to get the team to the point it is at now," says Erebus Motorsport CEO Ryan Maddison.

"My intention is to not disrupt our trajectory in any way and to keep building on the current development and performance phase we are in.

"There has been much speculation in the media about potential driver, sponsor and REC changes, in particular Tim Slade and James Rosenberg, however one-on-one discussions with all parties have taken place and our aim is to enter the 2014 season with the same structure of drivers, cars and crew we have at present.

they could allow coupes. just like the Touring Car Masters run falcon coupes/sedans, Monaro coupes and sedans, mustangs, Camaros, Toranas, Porsches, Chargers and the category had the Pacer(Valiant) running as well. As long as it's a V8 I say.

For me it just wouldn't be the same, and I would lose interest quickly.

I prefer 4 doors but it won't be end of the world, granted the E63 got shafted if that's the deal.

It wouldn't be too hard to do the E63 coupe

I have no idea why but HRT seems to be gaining me as a fan. I don't know alot about Nick but he seems like he is really devoted to fans of the series he has driven in as he followed me on Instagram after liking a picture he posted (wasn't following him at first).

Not likely after the blow out before Bathurst 2011, where Kelly racing screwed him over for every event for the rest of the season, (this was prior to his FPR commitments)

So unless its a customer car to another team, not likely,

I think he fits better in Ford anyway!

I was just wondering what the future of the V8 Utes will be next year and beyond. Kept until FPV's are completely outmatched...make it a one make series...scrapped altogether?

V8 utes run a generic 5.0 litre V8, built by one company, they are then "sealed" to prevent outside influence,

They have been that way since the BA Falcon and VU commodore where Holden went to the 5.7-6.0 V8 and Ford went to the 5.4

This is somewhat of an interesting question, what will happen if they lose the body shape fight?

Nevermind. Please delete.
