Walkinshaw confirms Oliver Gavin for enduro's
Walkinshaw Racing has officially confirmed that Oliver Gavin will join Nick Percat for this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.
His chance has come in somewhat unusual circumstances as the seat alongside Percat was originally slated for Warren Luff.

Luff was subsequently promoted to the sister Holden Racing Team, however, following Jonathon Webb’s deal with the factory outfit being blocked by Triple Eight.

I understand many people would like to see local youngsters get a shot at V8s. I think its much better for overseas talent to get a drive and report back. Its like anyone from anywhere oitside of the host country, getting a drive in NASCAR, Le Mans, 24H Nurb. This does more to promote V8s and getting more drivers wanting to have a go.

With Penske thinking about it, someone like Roush or even Saleen (Im surprised he never tried to get a Falcon road car for testing) would be awesome to want a piece of this series-regardless of available REC's.

I just read Whincup only signing a 1year deal with T8. Hmm, Penske bound? Nissan adding more cars when The Falcon and/or Commoder die? Erebus or Volvo adding extra cars?

I wouldn't read anything into it. Penske is yet to confirm his involvement, and Whincup is not going to commit to a team with an under-developed car.

Well, I guess he's leaving Australia. If Pepsi Max and HRT bring in the Mustang and Camaro in 2016, I dont know how good the aero will be on those coupes.

Again, you are reading far too much into it. Maybe Red Bull only offered one year so that he and Lowndes are up for renewal at the same time, so they only have to go through negotiations once, giving them more freedom to concentrate on racing.

Assuming he is leaving the country because he signed a one-year deal is ridiculous

Ugh, I really wish that doesn't happen. Series just won't be the same, it'll just be another GT series ala World Challenge. The reason I like V8's so much is that there's not much out there like them. (anything hugely popular at least) When you start using 2-door cars, you just become another GT series and there's really no reason to watch anymore. :indiff:

Depends if Australia use the Mondeo or we get the Taurus. The Holden name could probably be used for Australian racing. GM could rebadge the impala or Regal/Insignia (Opel). 7 days to go.

Well Ford could use the Fusion (Mondeo there) as it's in the same class/category as the Altima. Depending on how long Chevrolet decides to produce & sell the Chevy SS here, they could simply change the Holdens over to the Chevy and keep using that car.

Scratch my earlier post. I just saw the Holden Malibu on the road. I wonder how it will sell. Best feature on that car is the taillights. :sly:

Yeah I've seen a few Malibus around too, they're half decent lookers.

Have I mentioned how hyped I am?- watching V8Xtra

So another season I wont be able to watch...?

I would like to think a USA deal for this season at least broadcasts the AGP, Bathurst and GC events.
I have not read anything available overseas for all the other events or anything about V8 Live packages yet.

No chance in heck this would be a V8SC but, interesting.

That car will be racing the Pirelli World Challenge. If anything, I think it would be "interesting" if Chrysler entered V8 Supercars under the guise of SRT with the 300C.

There's been rumours of Chrysler entering with the 300C for a long time now. It never really appeared like it would happen to me, plus the 300C would be the most un-aerodynamic car on the grid by far.

When I first saw the 300C pace car in 2007(?), I was sure it would happen. :(

Is a 300C not the safety car anymore? I remember a couple of years ago it was a Commodore.

My memory is drawing blanks right now (maybe too much beer?) but I'm pretty sure the safety car is still a Commodore. Before that Audi supplied the safety car but I believe they became unhappy with the Four X Gold sponsorship.

It was the 300C. Then R35 GT-R. Last year was a return to the 300C.

Ah, how could I forget the GT-R!

It's hard to believe the season starts next weekend! I'll be there, as usual, I cannot wait as it's easily one of my favourite weekends of the year. We've been going since 2003 with family friends from Sydney, so it's a bit of a tradition now. I'm still a bit sceptical about the split race on Saturday but I'll wait until Saturday afternoon to pass my judgements. I guess it gives the fans at the track a chance to go to the toilet and grab another drink. :p

It's still showing the stuff for last year, so who knows if they will offer it again
I'm sure they just haven't got around to it yet. It says schedule for the first race isn't finalized, but it's in a week so they better get their ass in gear.

Well, with Adelaide weather only topping about 23/24 Saturday and Sunday(chance of rain), looks good in terms of keeping cabin temps down for the drivers. Plus starting later in the day definitely helps.

If I have the extra "disposable funds" I will, I love how you say it like some of us just don't have priorities...

Then again if it's so easy I doubt you'll mind paying for mine on top of yours :mischievous::sly:
Pay once, get live streaming without commercials all season. Up to you.

It was less than $50 a year for us, or you can spend few bucks for each event weekend. It's actually not too bad.
