Yeah I know about all that. I love JB's optimism. If GM and Ford drop out totally, who fills the gap? Where are the other RECs going amongst EMV8, GRM and NISMO? Who is Skaife still trying to woo just in case? We should be hearing something about now. Any rumours since Volvo has shown pace from day one.

The capped number is silly. I remember when Skaife introduced the COTF. He said you can put any car over the chassis. If BJR, DJR and RBRA convince 3 more works teams to join, im sure VESA wont turn them away.

Any way here's  to more good racing this year!

Even though it uses a GM engine in NZ, bring it

V8 Supercars confirms safety car restart changes.
Although the Acceleration Zone remains in place, the speed range in which the cars must travel before the leader enters the zone and accelerates has been lifted from 50-60km/h up to 60-80km/h.

While those back in the pack were previously able to race once the leader had accelerated, cars will no longer be able to overtake before the control line.
The Acceleration Zone will also be lengthened, while there will no longer be a green flag from the starter’s box.

It's funny I was thinking about Toyota and V8s the other day and even remember that horrid TRD car from like 2006 that was suppose to be a sports car in Australia and Japan. I though why doesn't Toyota join in, I mean they know how to build a V8 and actually have on they could compete with and run NASCAR well. So why not do something that actually is more Stock Car like V8s to sell your brand that everyone thinks is boring.

I wonder how NZ convinced Toyota to allow the Camry name and body to house that V8.
Only problem with Toyota branding is, Australians actually use Land Cruisers and Prados off road. As a North American, I was surprised in seeing these vehicles being used for recreational purpose other than going to McDonalds. And if people are going to spend 50K on a road going passenger car, it's going to be on something that can tow 1.5tonnes at 110kmh on a freeway uphill.
I still think Toyota are waiting for Holden and Ford to say, "when" full stop, before they make any motorsport decisions(if any) in Oz. I'd select Lexus to motorsport duty. :)

You should drive through Eastwood some time. Not only are Landcruisers and Prados used to drive to McDonalds, but the residents have turned it into a competitive sport. And then there is the ever-popular pastime of driving down Parramatta Road with their lights on high beam, other drivers be damned.

As long as it's toyota in some capacity I'd be happy. And I use to use my Tacoma all the time for off roading when I had it :sly:

He's under contract through the end of 2016 so I don't see that happening.

This I know which sucks but there are some drivers I think that could come over to bring fans.

I think the only way it will work is if the find a road track ringer, and then modify a V8 Supercar to be left-hand drive and show all the units of measurement in Imperial.

The only driver I can think of that's actually possible and would attract some fans is Sam Hornish.

Not sure why they would need to make any changes, NASCAR drivers aren't as stupid as people like to think.

I'm not saying that they're stupid, just that we have seen plenty of accomplished international drivers come over here and struggle. But if a V8 Supercar were adapted to fit a driver with left-hand drive and Imperial measurements, it might make the transition easier.

It wouldn't be that hard, more than a weekend a year is going to be needed for any driver in any series to run upfront. I think testing they would get it down pretty well since it's not that hard.

Sam Hornish might be ok but I don't think he would be willing to move with his family. I can't remember who is only under contract through this year either but wouldn't surprise me to see someone from another series too.

👍

Yeah, that looks great. It's certainly better than the HHA livery on the Erebus car last year. 👍

Also, I didn't even realise the next event was this weekend! Hoping McLaughlin and Van Gisbergen continue their good form from Albert Park. To me, it looks like Whincup has been feeling the pressure from his new rivals in these last couple of events, hoping that continues. As someone who's not a fan of Whincup, it's a shame Albert Park was a non-championship event, that would've certainly made things hard for him!

My predictions are: A massive blow-up from wonder ass (aka Whincup), a couple of race wins for Lowndes, lots of passing at the hairpin and turn 6 and a couple of wins for McLaughlin (Volvo ppppooooowwwweeeerrrr)

Yeah, I feared it would be something similar to Slade's last year but it's miles better. Easily one of my top five livery's this year. 👍

I prefer last year livery from Bathurst onwards. Much better then the Coates Hire car they were running though.

Definitely, and it's nice to see a sponsor sticking to their driver and supporting him so consistently (Coates Hire-Percat).

Queenslander Ian Palmer will become the first man to race a Pontiac Firebird in the Touring Car Masters when the series continues at Winton next month. The former Australian GT and V8 Supercar competitor says he’s spent eight months building the 1970 model car
The Firebird will be one of three new cars at Winton, with a Chev Monza and a Ford Falcon set to be debuted by Tony Hunter and Bruce McLeod respectively.
"I didn’t realise the enormity of the kind of build required for TCM cars,” said Palmer.“Mainly, I did it because there have been no other Pontiac’s out there so it’s something different.“You’ve got plenty of Mustangs, Monaro’s and the like out there so it’s good to have something new… and it’s a cool looking car!“Some people have said, I think somewhat unkindly, that it’s basically a Camaro with a different nose so on that basis it should make a good race car!”
