IMO a Small Displacement V8 with Turbo would be good, but it would likely be a 6 Cylinder.

if it can sound like a 600hp version of the BTCC's Turbo engines and not an F1 cars engine it would be epic.

No matter how much people deny it, sound plays a huge part. Maybe not for some of the people on here who are die hard motorsport fans and could watch a race in silence, but for the casual fans, the fans who buy 80% of tickets and support the series.

No disagreement there. I was disappointed at Albert Park this year hearing the F1 cars whizz past(good thing I saw the previous 3 years). But , then, it's like people who remember hearing V12's and miss the sounds of carburetors.

And about the sound. I went to a Speed World Championship race at Lime rock back in 2001. I thought the GT cars were loud. When the TC cars were warming up, they were way louder nearly ear-splitting and that was a rainy Memorial Day weekend!

Like I mentioned, when I first heard the EREBUS V8s last year, that made me smile. The same as hearing the difference between a Ferrari V8 and an Aston V12.

You've clearly not heard a BTCC engine in real life, they sound rubbish.

If this weekend wasn't interesting enough already. The forecast for tomorrow could shake things up during the race, 90% chance of rain.

Edit: Big damage to the #2 HRT car at turn 2, Lowndes also involved in the incident. Both drivers are ok. Going off of that grainy picture, they'll be lucky if they can get the HRT car repaired for tomorrow it looks trashed.

Bummer. Wonder if Lowndes will be repaired in time for the shootout.

Edit: Rain = guess who's gonna win.

Gone I reckon. Can't see this getting fixed overnight. Looks to be very significant damage. Luff had no brake pedal on the approach to turn 2 apparently.

I think I've figured out how to save Ford's presence in V8 Supercars. First, we take all the money Channel 7 spend on those self-indulgent intros and puff pieces ... and then we give it to FPR.

Mosterts DJR hit hard last year. The Number 22 hit hard last year(at Bathurst and Phillip Island). This was a "soft" roll over. Hopefully the cage is intact.

Oh wow that looks nasty, I'm just watching practice on tv now, I'm guessing its not live.

I'd say it's bent - FPR had to work on Reynolds' roll cage, and that was a lighter hit - but it did its job.

Anyone notice how much Luffs legs were shaking as he climbed out of the car? Wouldn't be many things in life scarier than the brake pedal going to the floor.

Question to the Australians here - have any of you actually seen many/any Altimas on the road at all? I'd imagine you guys in the Eastern states might've seen a few but I don't think I've seen any at all in Adelaide. I have mistaken many Pulsars for Altimas, if that counts.

I see Mark Larkham has a new toy - the PokeyCam - for the weekend.

A handful maybe - probably more Maximas, which it replaced but has an almost identical body
shape.

Edit:
Luff incident:

I'm in Melbourne. Haven't seen many. Less than a handful. I see more R35s than 370Zs as well.

Neither. I'm in Western Sydney, and I haven't seen a one. Although I do tend to take back roads where I can to avoid traffic.

Zukanovic just crashed on the approach to Reid Park in the Dunlop race. Greg Murphy's commentary was hilarious - "I've seen that before"

A break for hrt as Courtney gets into top 10 shootout

Now there's a petition to keep Ford in V8s.
Too late. Too too late.

A read an article earlier that said everyone was jumping the gun, and that FPR were still in discussion with Ford and that nothing was solid yet.

Also, since the #2 will not be racing this weekend and Courtney got bumped into the shootout, good old Mr Grumpy is complaining. Does he ever NOT complain about anything?

You will never believe this, but I saw the first one I've ever seen about 5 minutes before you posted this.

I live up near Tamworth in NSW and up all I've seen like three or four. All in the last couple of months actually.

Boo:censored:hoo. Get over it. Bet he wouldn't be complaining if one of his cars was getting promoted into the top ten. And of course they reverse the decision and Courtney now won't be promoted to the shootout. Can't have Roland upset now can we? What a load of (Red) Bull.

Gonna miss the shootout, stuck in traffic. :(

Courtney is in P10.
Top Ten Shootout is now a Top Nine.

Shouldn't they leave P10 vacant for the start tomorrow though? Makes no sense to me that they are moving JC into 10th for the start yet not allowing him in the shootout. :odd: Whatever, no use going on about it.

Perkins slid on the last corner.
Had he not, he would've had pole instead of 4th.
Bright on Provisional Pole with a 2:07.0431
