Telling your drivers to intentionally wreck others just to win isn't evil enough already?![]()
It's a joke. All of the other companies are real - Norton, for instance, produced anti-viral software that can be harder to remove from your system than most viruses; BP caused the Deep Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico and didn't care; and Halliburton are accused of war profiteering, because they won all the contracts to rebuild Iraq and secure oilfields during the occupation - but Weyland-Yutani is perhaps the most evil fictional company in the universe. They're antagonists in the ALIEN franchise, who regularly send crew of people into dangerous situations to secure a specimen of the titular alien, an aggressive predator, because profits.
BP caused the Deep Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico and didn't care
They run up front though, which is the most important factor.
Right, because when the guy running the company says "Nobody wishes this was over more than I do, because I have a life I'd get back to", you just know that the company is a universal force for good.Research the facts then come back to us on that one.
Um, what? We're talking about Triple Eight here - the team that has won three of the last four drivers' and teams' championships. And in the years they didn't win those championships, they were the runner-up. They are one of the most successful teams in the sport at the moment, and they can ask practically any price they want of any sponsor, and that sponsor will happily pay it. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bidding war over sponsorship of the team that results in them getting even more money than they do now.because of the money they get from vodafone, different sponsor means less money which means good chance they are going to drop down the field.

Nor was Deepwater Horizon their only questionable episode.

As you say, they were renting the rig. They were responsible for it.BP rented the rig,the staff and the equitment on it etc etc everything that failed was down to an american company not bp.
Did you not read what I just said? Triple Eight is a very successful and very competitive team. They are a very attractive proposition to any company looking to get exposure in V8 Supercars. They are virtually guaranteed a lot of coverage, since the team is so competitive.people bidding in a bidding war over giving triple 8 money.....really?
Correlation does not imply causation. Again, I direct your attention to your own words: "research the facts then come back to us on that one". You cite Williams F1 as a team that fell down the grid because they lost a major sponsor. This is not the case. Their decline began when Adrian Newey left the team, and they mismanaged their car development for the next few years, culminating in the disaster that was 2011. Ironically, they had just signed PDVSA as a major sponsor in a deal worth $40 million per year.do you actually want a list of massive teams that over the years have lost a title sponsor then dropped down the field?

More to the point, do you even know anything about V8 Supercars? Triple Eight are one of only a handful of approved costructors, and sell cars to smaller teams like Tekno Autosports and Lucas Dumbrell Motorsports. Sponsorship is not their ownly source of income.

Again, correlation does not imply causation - just because something happened one particular way in the past, that does not mean it will always happen that way. So what if the UK arm of Triple Eight had financial problems? Triple Eight Australia is independent of Triple Eight UK. And so what if Perkins Engineering lost a sponsor? It was in entirely different circumstances to Triple Eight and Vodafone. So What happened to triple 8 in the uk when vauxhall went? Again major sponsor went and down the field they went then mg comes in throws money at them and back up the field they go (and yes well aware that triple 8 uk and triple 8 aus haven't been the same since 02)
And i take it your not up to speed on perkins engineering then? Don't worry they've only been around for 28 years. They made race winning cars for themselfs and other teams then lost a major sponsor and then dropped to midfield.
Then why was the Venezuelan congress upset that PDVSA was paying $40 million in state funds to Williams F1?PDVSA sponsor Maldonado not williams ,They also lost BMW and HP before their sponsorships contracts ended which lost them alot of money too.
You're right. I have no idea about the history of the sport, because you're clearly not talking about Formula 1 or V8 Supercars or any other form of motorsport. But i suppose we can gloss over that as you don't know much about the history of the sport i suppose time will tell what will happen to them
And so what if Perkins Engineering lost a sponsor? It was in entirely different circumstances to Triple Eight and Vodafone.
You claim that every time a team loses a major sponsor, they go backwards. Well, let's take a look at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport. They lost Gulf Western Oils at the end of 2011. They picked up iSelect at the start of 2012 - right at the last minute, too - and Taz Douglas scored their best result to date, with 12th place at Symmonds Plains. Or how about Tony d'Alberto Racing? They lost backing from Wilson Security this year, then picked up PFERD for three races and Hyflex from the Hamilton round, where he scored an 8th place. Going by your logic, Lucas Dumbrell and Tony d'Alberto sould have gone backwards the minute they lost their sponsors. But they didn't. How do you explain that?
Then why was the Venezuelan congress upset that PDVSA was paying $40 million in state funds to Williams F1?
You've already embarrased yourself enough for one night with your ignorance. Why don't you quit while you're still ahead and save yourself further humiliation?
In the world according to you, a team's success is a direct result of their keeping the same sponsor for year to year. You continue to make straw man arguments, but you have not addressed the main point here: why do you seem to think that a team that has won three teams' and three drivers' championships in the past four years (and has been runner-up in both in the fourth year) - and is arguably the best team in the sport today - will not be able to secure a new sponsor for the same amount of money (or more) that they are currently getting?LOL!!! sorry you were the one posting about a bidding war on sponsoring triple 8 yet post no proof of this happening??? you clearly didnt read my orginal post properly because it was in relation to the amount of money triple 8 got before compared to what they may get now in future but like you said this would never happened to triple 8 as this is triple 8!!! the best team eva im guessing is your opinion.

Because even if your insane theory somehow comes true, and for some reason Triple Eight can only get half as much from their new sponsors as they are currently getting from Vodafone, you're still overlooking the Car of the Future regulations, which will be introduced next year and were deliberately designed to halve the cost of building and running a car.
Then why do you keep suggesting that as soon as a team loses a sposnor, they stop being competitive? Triple Eight will lose Vodafone sponsorship at the end of the season. But they have already started on development for 2013. They're using Vodafone's money to do it. And when they get a new sponsor, they will put that money into development for 2014.No actually my post states that part of a teams success is the amount of money they bring in that they pass on to R&D.
Wrong again, but thanks for playing. Car of the Future was designed to halve costs to teams from the moment the regulations were introduced.CoF will only bring down the costs after show many years not in its initial season as things are brand new and need developed which is going to cost a vast amount of money.
I never said that. Here, read on:Still waiting for your proof about the bidding wars will be interesting to read who is "fighting" over themno nothing?
I never said that a bidding war would happen - only that I could envision it. This is my opinion; I never presented it as fact. Your interpretation of it as fact only supports my belief that you can't read. They are one of the most successful teams in the sport at the moment, and they can ask practically any price they want of any sponsor, and that sponsor will happily pay it. I don't know why you seem to think development is something that the teams only do dueing the off-season.

I clearly stated my belief that Triple Eight could experience a bidding war betwee potential sponsors was nothing more than my personal opinion.Nice aup with personal attacks now
It's a marketing thing.
Then from a near disaster Caruso (stall on the grid) comes through the field to finish 4th and on the tail of 3rd
