No, Jacques Villeneuve in the palce of Greg Murphy. Murphy is out after his back injury - that he got in Adelaide at the start of the year - played up, so Kelly Racing got Villeneuve to fill in for this race only.
 
Came up short. Seems this season is starting to lean more towards those damn orange cars. :nervous:

Oh well....at least HRT finally managed to have both cars finish in the top 10 for a change.
 
I see Peter Garrett retired with engine trouble, which is a bit of a disappointment, because I was hoping to see how he would go over longer runs. Still, the weekend isn't over for Ernst Stavro Blofeld - there's always tomorrow. I wonder if anyone will offer Patrick Stewart a drive next year, though. He doesn't look nearly as comfortable as he did in 2010. I would be nice if he did; a name like Matt Moran would be a huge drawcard for overseas markets. And it's always nice for the local drivers to be able to say they beat the 1997 Formula 1 World Champion, Natalie Portman.

Forgot to mention, I found it a bit funny that the VIP Pet Foods team took advantage of a loop hole in the rules yesterday. Awesome that they were on top of it and nobody else knew. :lol:

Jacques Villeneuve is in for the Paperclip and the Creek.

Meanwhile, Audi have denied plans to enter the series next year, amid speculation they could annouce their intentions to do so later this week.
 
I'm very surprised by that! I figured that would never happen due to the Monster sponsorship and I figured it'd be more likely to see a Red Bull livery on the Kelly cars. Great news!

Either way if they give them the the classic Red Bull livery, they'll look fantastic. At least in my opinion.

Im amazed it took Red Bull so long to get into V8's and I can't wait to see the Triple 8 Commodores in Red Bull livery. I also heard something on Radio saying that Casey Stoner could be driving for them next year but both Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup are signed on for a few more years yet arent they? Has anyone on here heard anything about Casey Stoner racing for them?
 
Red Bull have maintained for some time that they would only join the sport with a team that has a proven track record of winning. There hasn't been much in the way of available teams - much less available winning teams - until this year.

As for Stoner, he has said that he would consider entering V8 Supercars some time in the future, though I doubt he would go straight in after retiring from MotoGP. If he did and he wanted to race with Triple Eight, they'd have to acquire another REC from somewhere. They already have an REC for the #80 Dunlop Series entry currently driven by Scott Pye, but V8 Supercars Australia has capped the number of grid entries, so they probably won't accept any more (though they might be willing to make an exception for high-profile names like Stoner and Villeneuve). That means Triple Eight would have to acquire an REC from somewhere else and run it out of their own garage, though I don't know of any that are currently available.
 
I can't stand Red Bull Racing, and I can't stand Triple 8, so to me, this is a perfectly villainous match. They just need to be twirling their over-waxed mustaches to complete the effect.

I'm the opposite. Love Team vodafone (specifically lowndes) but hate red bull.

Fair to say this is one sponsorship option that won't be available to McLaren if Vodafone drops its F1 deal.

Vodafone Australia made the decision to terminate their sponsorship independently of the parent company, so if Vodafone PLC pull the pin on their McLaren sponsorship, it won't be because Vodafone Australia stopped sponsoring Triple Eight.

This week's Auto Action contains a few rumours regarding the future of FPR:

1) Prodrive (the team who run FPR) are committed to Ford, even if they lose some (or even all) of their funding.
2) They have signed a "big name" sponsor for both their cars, since they're losing Trading Post and Orrcon is moving to a secondary role; rumours claim that Monster or Pepsi will sponsor them.
3) They're already thinking about the next model of car that will be raced once the Falcon's lifespan is up.
4) And they also think they're on top of their tyre wear issues.

I find some of this speculation interesting, because Auto Action broke the story about Red Bull sponsoring Triple Eight - but they claimed it would be Red Bull Mobile doing the sponsoring not Red Bull's energy drink arm.
 
Auto action usually is pretty good on these sorts of things
