I really hope that the GM Design one is the next to be revealed. I wonder what brand it will fall under?

My money's on Chevy or Cadillac.

According to Autocar. The AMG Vision GT is a twin turbo V8.

Autocar
The AMG Vision Gran Turismo runs a front-mounted, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine of unspecified size developing 577bhp together with 590lb ft of torque. With a virtual aluminium spaceframe body and weighing 1385kg, it has a power-to-weight ratio of 417bhp per tonne.

Concept car + Twin turbo V8 = only 577 hp?
It must be a 3.0-3.5L engine at most.
4.0L if they're being conservative, but why on a concept car?

I've got drool all over my tablet when I saw that Merc, awsome.

A concept which is not to powerful, but very aerodynamic and light. The speed should be immense

...with 590 ft lbs
Which equates to 800 Nm of torque. A specific torque of 200 Nm/L is an attainable goal by production turbo gasoline engines; more is possible if they're really pushing it.
I stand by my 3.5-4.0 L estimation.

Well if you could pull away from the thinking that everyone is out to get you, you might have noticed I had no beef with your estimation, otherwise I would say so...you said "only 577hp", and I said " with 590 ft lbs"...in other words, even though the car may be a little hp weak it will still be fun due to the TQ. Loosen up guy...maybe a smiley at the end of that would have helped:)

I think you misinterpreted the tone of my post. I wasn't trying to push my ideas on anybody, just guessing the engine size.
If the car is running the very same engine as on other 63 AMGs, that's still ok for me!

I think this looks really great. It has enough concept bling without being silly looking and the exhaust outlets are amazing looking. The long bonnet with the cabin perched over the rear gives it such a dynamic look.

It should have a V8 as it would be a disappointment to not have a proper sound with this styling. Performance wise the drive-train from the SLS AMG Electric Drive would be super but it needs a sound like God clearing his throat.

The only weak point so far is the the wheels which look like an afterthought. Hopefully we can change them but I suspect we will not be able to.

Fully agree, really liking it.

This, from one of the articles linked, suggests the sound was created my M-AMG....

"For fans of Gran Turismo® 6, the Mercedes-AMG sound specialists have created a powerful, sonorous exhaust note that authentically celebrates the V8's love of high engine speeds."

Every post in this thread should end with IMHO.
To me looks tacky and random.

To me it doesn't. And although it may not be the prettiest car out there, the design is several classes above this:

IMHO, it does not. :D

.... maybe a little bit. I think silver kinda pushed it over the edge. It could also be a special edition hotwheels car.
To it's defense, it would end up that that way since most scifi movie cars are "visions" of the future.

It surely looks like a new playground (literally) between reality and fiction is opening. A new blurred lined between the game and the real world. Wouldn’t go as far as “conservative” to qualify the design but at least underline a “concerned” approach.

As long as my german gestimate doesn’t fool me, it looks a serious business enough for Mercedes-Benz to display a 1:1 (working?) replica at this year L.A. Auto Show.

Indeed. Though it's mentioned in the Spiegel article that its only going to be a "model" which leads me to assume it's not going to be functional. But it sports a F1 style cockpit and levers and buttons on the car's ceiling*gasp*. Still like it because it's not too serious looking and should feature some design elements from forthcoming SLS.

I think there's no need to justify anything here, if someone love it go ahead, the judgement here is 100% subjective. So you are free to love it if you want to.

That said IMHO all these protoypes are trying to be the next 4 wheel spaceship but they feel so cold and casual to me. Seems like these prototypes MUST be like that in designers mind but they fail to looks like "real cars" on my eyes.

I still think a car should looks like a car, remember the McLaren F1 and Ferrari F40, timeless design.
Or the 458 not an old model, so you can't say it looks "real" because it's old. The 458 still looks like a real car despite having quite unique and somehow innovative design. I don't know, it's difficoult to explain what I'm trying to say with words. Hope you can understand my point, somehow.

Or SLR. LaFerrari/P1/Veneno... all look like crazy futuristic space ships. Its no suprise that this car falls from the same tree and I expect the next SLS/ SLR to feature a similar grill f.e. Don't get the hate for this car, looks better to me than a P1 tbh.
