Does this feature have any effect, whatsoever? I tried when only me and a friend were in a lobby, but nothing happened. Can anyone explain?

It does work. I'm not exactly sure what percentage of people you need to vote yes for it to be effective. I have definitely seen people be removed because of it though.

yerh i does work! i use it to kick sleep lobby hosts along with the help of everyone else! :p

but you do need a fair percentage of the room to vote yes for it to be effective, and no i dont know what percentage that is :(

One would think it would have to be a majority vote (ie. 12 players total, vote would need to be 7-5). This is the way it was on most other online games - which had this option - I've ever played.

It maybe coincidence that someone leaves when a kick is done, but even if the kick happens the function does not work correctly, as a vote call is not initiated for anyone to see or to respond to with either a yes or no response, if it worked it would come up with the same dialogue box like voting for a track. So that's why I think it doesn't work.

No. It's a private vote.

No. It's a private vote.

Is this documented in the manual?
I still think something is wrong, how long is the kick vote active for until you need to click it again for it to count, or is it valid in the PS3 memory or server memory as long as you are online or aslong as they are online?

So I don't understand, does every player get a message to kick the guy or will no one else know unless you tell them to kick him also?

I'm almost 100% sure that no one else in the lobby will get a message and the only way to kick that person is to tell others to go and "reject vote" on that certain player.

People who are host can reject(kick) players out of a game without voting. If you want to kick someone out of the game if you aren't host, you will need more than 50% of the players in the lobby to vote to kick the player you want to be kicked.

The reason why you weren't able to get your friend out was because you either weren't host and/or you didn't get over 50% of the people in the lobby to vote to kick him.

Well, from my experience, me and 10 other people of the total 16 in the room voted to kick the host, but didnt work.....maybe in order for the host to be kicked all votes are needed?
