Two Cape Rings would be cool!
IMO You ruin the balance of the Toyota by putting all the weight on the rear. @1200kg you change the balance by putting all the weight on the rear, I don't do that. 50/50 or 49/51 is how far I ever go.
MrMelancholy15Welcome cows!
Turns out, there's speculation, anxiety and conspiracy in my series! Everyone's a little unsure of the future of the series, but, I think it'll be good fun.
FH, there are 3 make-up rounds at the end of the season. It gives everyone the chance to improve on their standings in the points. So, your unnannounced, under funded team will get $6,000,000 (3 to each driver) and the opportunity to make up for missed rounds.
A lot of rules have been tossed around in the last week. Anyway to get a summary and reminder of any changes or amendments to the GTP Rules before the race?
👎 For those of you who gave me a reason why you were missing today, or just sent me a PM "I can't make it" thank you!
Godfrey, you did your best man. You were in the room. I won't hold it against you.
Norm & FH, it's fine.
Race 2 was sloppy at the start. Then I made up 5 or 6 positions in one lap. I don't even know what to say.
However, I'll be announcing new qualifying/race start procedures. You all got through Turn 1 okay two wide, but, there were some rows of cars that were only one-wide.
NEW QUALIFYING/RACE START PROCEDURES: You may only enter track once. (Unless something catastrophic happens, then return to pit before the end of the out-lap.) This ensures that your fastest times will still be displayed, at the end of qualifying. In order to switch to mediums, you must switch to mediums, and wait off-course until the grid is announced, and then you may return to the track (Enter course.) Failure to do so, will cost you your grid position, as your soft laps will no longer be displayed.
Also, at the race start, of both Races 1 & 2, I want a pair of drivers (first and second, third and fourth etc.) to head towards the Stop Box area every ten seconds. This will allow for an obvious grid system. In Race 2 today, a certain driver got very confused, and that botched the entire race start. SO, make sure that you're in a two wide grid position, make sure that you leave enough room for the driver beside you, and make sure that you cross the start/finish line at 100 km/h or 60 mp/h. An allowance of 5 km/h is allowed, meaning that you may go 60-64 mp/h across the line, without penalty. However, as some people did today, crossing the start/finish line at 115 km/h is not okay.
My vote would be for Monza or Road Course Indy as a high speed track, or maybe even LeMans with the chicanes. HSR is probably the most boring track in the game and the fastest car is almost impossible to beat regardless of your tune or pit strategy. At least at Monza and Indy there are high and low speed corners to negotiate, requiring some tuning and driving skill.
Clubman Stage 5 is no faster than GVE on the straight. Road Course Indy and Monza without the chicanes is quite a bit faster especially with the draft, and of course LeMans is quite fast in several sections.
You are right, but who would have the time to run 15 laps at Le Mans twice and then run 5 or 6. HSR, Clubman 5 or Indy Oval to keep the tracks short and the lap times down.
The race lengths aren't based upon laps. The race lengths are based upon tire wear/time in race. I'd like to go to either Sarthe 2005 (it's harder to cut corners, makes the jobs of the stewards much easier), Monza (with first chicane or MotoGP chicane) or Road Course Indy, but, High Speed Ring was a fun little test.
Certainly, of the drivers who have already been around the High Speed Ring (including S2000s, Civics, Focuses and RX-8s,) there weren't too many "advantages" in speed, surprisingly.
Anyways, just a friendly reminder, to read the new starting/qualifying procedures, as, at Round One, (round 1) we will be giving penalties, and at Preseason Round 5 (Round 0.5) we will be giving out warnings.
The penalty for leaving and re-entering the track during qualifying will cost you your lap times. The penalty for skipping the starts will be assessed by the Team of Stewards, but, will likely be based on the number of positions overtaken before the apex of turn 1, or as a result of the false start.
Anyways, I fully agree with cnd, for his comments. Race 1 was a decent start, and race 2 was bad. If we use the start of race 1 as an example, the race starts will be somewhat clean and ordered.
MrMelancholy15Well, this week, I'd like input from everyone. I want to know what goes on in your heads, when you're thinking about which tracks you'd like to go to, and which ones you wouldn't like to go to. But, I think there's something about the Porsche Curves/Ford Chicanes that would just be fun in these ITCC cars. Well, maybe. I, personally (and surprisingly, considering that I won at Indy in the Rolex series) find Indy Road Course a bit tame. And, Monza would be sheer chaos on the first lap. That much drafting, with that many cars...
So, we're left with a choice; do we go to the wide, not-very-difficult track? Do we go to the track with the long straightaways? Do we go the chaos of a small circuit designed with high-speed straights, and low speed corners, and chicanes that are quite quick, but, only on one racing line?
Or, (barring Daytona) do you have a different suggestion?
MrMelancholy15Good luck, with the search for internet. Say hi to the ladies at the beach.
Anyways, I'm not sure about High Speed Ring. It is cool, but, I think the speeds and the banking are too high. Some FR or MR cars naturally slide in Turn 2. We had some nasty crashes, that no one intentionally caused, but, High Speed Ring is definitely made for FF cars and NASCAR/F1. The cars just need downforce to maintain their stability. The FR cars can't maintain their stability there. And, I don't want to see the leader spin, in front of 16 drivers, and then have to officiate and make the calls, when the race goes to 🤬 .![]()
