I'd prefer short tracks, if were doing a long track, I don't think it should be sarthe. Something like Indy Road is cool, and high speed ring will be a draft fest, kinda boring, like Monza (in these cars). Clubman Stage 5 is a nice short high speed track, almost like GV east. If we don't want to do that, Madrid short is nice as well. It's challenging and fast.

The main idea is to fully ensure that all the cars are equal in terms of straight line performance. We might not even run a high-speed track next, if we can't come to an agreement. However, I just think that we should run a high-speed track, to ensure that all the cars have a somewhat equal top speed.

I have to ask mel, why is Daytona Road not usable?

You said because it didnt have a grid boxes, but nor does Indy Road am I correct?

And surely we could just run 3 rolling start races?

Daytona road starts on a slope though

My vote is still for Monza ... may be "boring" or what not, but I reckon that with the long straights and chicanes its got something for everyone ...

Indy does have grid boxes, remember that it hosted the F1 relatively recently.

I can also see Daytona being awkward, not only because of the slope at the start, but the inside track is tighter than Tsukuba, maybe even Monaco.

As for 3 rolling starts, it kind of takes away the magic of the 3rd race, I feel.

What about Sarthe 2005 with no chicanes, Mel? Like we voted for in the lobby. :D

high speed ring should be good, me and jamie have done some races there, hes in the focus team, and me in the civic. the civic has a slight power advantage on the straights, but the focus seems to corner better, and doesnt ware the tyres, im 2/10 quicker, but would have to run mediums for longer then he does. with the slipstream we are equal on pace though

r we still doing a pre season round there, it would be good to do a race there, then decide if its not a good track for the main championship

In my experience HSR is a terrible race track because it's so big and wide, the draft is so exaggerated and it requires almost no driving skill, you end up with these huge bunches of cars all vying for the lead going into corners. It's very difficult to determine overlaps, corner rights etc. 3 and sometimes 4 wide is common and most guys have enough trouble seeing who is on one side of them, let alone keeping track of 4 or 5 people beside and in front of them.

HSR always sounds good in theory, I've just never found that to be the case in practice.

It really doesn't matter where we go, but I would like to know asap because I can get started testing.:sly:

actually, HSR is terrible as the johnny tactic would lose crucial draft. However, I demand a wet course! It's just, can you imagine we get 90% through the season then "le wild wet course" when we ain't practiced a wet race (with an inevitably of more crashes).

Suzuka anyone? If not, Monza? If not, Nurburgring 24H with fiat 500F's?

Lol ... or maybe even 500F's at Daytona? Sounds like a plan ... Hehe

Hey I just posted a video on the gt5rolexseries youtube of race 3 at Tsukuba. It is from my cars point of view. It is 10 minutes long. I encourage you guys to go and watch it. I apologize for the poor quality and my southern drawl.

1. Southern accent ADDS to the racing action! I think it rocks!

2. Webcam: bad idea! Lol, I tried it too, it just doesn't work. What phone do you have? I just stacked some boxes and used a remote to keep it aimed right. Just a idea, but I did enjoy it!

here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGO2CMmvTUs&feature=plcp and my phone is the LG Cosmos 2 with Verizon. I got it because it was free. It cannot record videos. The webcam doesn't have very good picture. Anyway feel free to watch it.

That quality....... astounding. :scared:

Anyways, I think we're getting places. More people seem to dislike High Speed Ring than like it, Daytona doesn't work, because there are no grid boxes (Indy does have grid boxes) and Monza and Suzuka East might be other choices.

So, let's discuss Monza, Suzuka East, and Indy.

And, if we run at Monza, I say we should run with weather change ON, specifically choosing the real life weather. 💡

Thankfully, I don't think that there's too much to say about Suzuka, except "be careful in turn 1, lap one." So, it would be easier on the Team of Stewards.

Either Suzuka East or Indy. Monza is too long and benefits the civic and fto too much. I would most like to go to Daytona with draft on strong. That would mix things up. We could do 3 rolling starts. We could just have a pace lap each time.

Nope. Definitely have to follow the structure of the series. Races 1 & 2 are rolling starts, and Race 3 is a standing start. It's designed this way, to ensure that everyone (with every type of car and skill set) has a chance to win; that's the goal of the series.

I'm trying to provide everyone with an equal chance of winning, by ensuring that no one pulls a Sebastian Vettel and takes pole and wins every race. :indiff: Standing starts help cars that might otherwise not be as fast.

At Daytona anyone can win with slipstream on strong. Trust me I have run vintage muscle car races there 1,000 times. If you want a true speed test go there. We can lineup and do a standing start anyway. Just lineup bumper to bumper. Just look at NASCAR. How many times has the polesitter at the Daytona 500 won the race in the last 10 years. We don't have to go there. It is just a suggestion if you want a true speed test. I don't know how much experience the other drivers have at pack racing at Daytona. You have to hold a line even more closely and not make sudden movements in the corners or you run the risk of taking the whole field out. That is the only thing I have against Daytona oval. Is there anyone else who wants to run it, or am I trying to overrule the whole crowd. If no one else wants to then no big deal. Suzuka East is my 2nd choice then Indy then Monza.

Oh, but, no oval racing. I can definitely say, that neither the BTCC or WTCC, or STCC or DTM or any other touring car series runs at a full-oval.

Who said we can't run the oval and use the bus stop? We used the chicane at tuskuba, why not the bus stop at Daytona? Just a idea (and let's use it for the last preseason race so I can make it!)

That is correct. If we want to be as close as possible to real life then no ovals. With the current horsepower settings, I believe that we need to run as small of a track as possible. Tsukuba IMO was the perfect length track. GVE was good as well. Tracks like Clubman Route 5, Autumn ring mini, London, various smaller configurations of Cape Ring, Suzuka east, GVE, and any other track where the lap time is less than 1.30.💡

Now that is an idea. +1
