Is there only going to be a class champs for Div 1/Div 2 or will you add an overall champion for the season? ...

Last night he made it sound like it was only a overall... But it was like 1 AM so...

If division 1 and 2 are competing in the same championship then someone from division one could sandbag and drop down to division 2 and sweep all 3 races. :nervous::nervous:

He also said that people would switch divisions if they're too fast or slow. Example: I get put in division2, but I sweep a weekend. I would move to division 1 for the next weekend and the guy in division 1 that had the lowest average finish in the last race would be moved down.

I think you shouldn't be punished for being mid-pack division one and finishing way back in the points. If I understand correctly what MrMel was saying, The winner in division one and division two would receive the same number of points even though the division two winner would not stand a chance in division one.

I think that's how it's going, I see what your saying, but there are only like 8 people for the second Divison. Another idea I just had was, to have a time trial to have the divisons set. Like have a room or two and go to, say, Monza. Have a set laptime that if you get past, your in division one, if you don't, your in division 2.

I think you should time trial for each race because certain drivers/cars are more suited for different tracks. I think you should get 33 pts per race if you qualify for division 1 which I think is the point value for a first place finish. This would keep from screwing over the slower people in division 1. This would discourage sandbagging and offer a big points incentive to run your best lap possible and end up in the right division.

Something like this could work ... in the lines of a hot lap shootout. If we have 22 registered drivers then the fastest 11 go to Div 1 and the slowest 11 to Div 2. But what about the respective drivers staying in their Div until S2. Then you have a regulation/promotion situation?

That's kind of where the changing divisions comes in. Also the times come into play. Storm can Barly make the Divison one time slot now, if he doesn't make division one he's screwed. And division two can't be until like 9 eastern (2am in Britain and 3 in Germany) and there are people from all those countries (and south Africa, but I don't know that time lol) and it can't be until then because of Rolex, and like half of this field races in that too.

Which is why the time trial each week idea needs to be put in place. So that way Storm can work his hardest each week to make division one. If he doesn't make it then there are three make up rounds. He has three outs. If we do one qualifier at the beginning of the season and he qualifies division 2 then he is just 🤬 outta luck.

Ideas ideas ideas... Mel, where are you?!.. Oh yea, probably sleeping since you were up at 3....

Yeah SA will be the same time as Germany ... but then what about maybe running Div 2 on Friday and keeping Div 1 in its current time slot? Checked out the Rolex thread and very keen on the Nissan, but I don't think I'm good enough to join yet ... lol

I think whatever MrMel wants will eventually end up being what happens. I think he wants to keep both divisions on Saturday.

Oh no, we have everyone from James to Seth In there! (I may have to start using agent as the model, he's top 100 in gt academy!)

But then continental tire challenge was going to be on Fridays... But that isn't finalized yet, so it could work!

Looks like we have plenty of highly skilled drivers in the series. Hopefully there will be someone else for drivers like myself to race with

I don't know the 'usual' schedule. Why so many preseason races though? I'm ready to begin.

My bad, I assumed you would have remembered it being just ahead of Rolex each weekend. However, say what you will about the preseason races, but Tsukuba has prime examples that some points still need to be cleared up.

1. The race 2 start was horribly disjointed.
2. A certain driver ran a double Racing Soft stint in one of the races.
3. A handful of drivers left the track during qualifying, complicating the organisation of the grid.
4. The formation lap and actually getting to Grid boxes for race 3 was funny.

All of these clearly need to be dealt with, as annoying as they may be.

I'll test Rolex with you guys after the race on Sat ... is Sun also a problem? If I'm in Div 2 then it could be late for me 2 ...

I think you'll be quick enough to be in division 1, unless they make the time super hard!

PM me which race and driver. I have already notified MrMel about the race 2 start. I will review the replay.

Any news on my application to become a ToS member?

Anyone have Suzuka full circuit times yet?

Are we running it dry or wet?

I think both. the first race will be completely wet. The second wet but drying out. The sprint will be completely dry.

2:13 from where I was going Monza vs Suzuka. Ofc, now that we know about Madrid, Monza would've worked better. Oops, too good at rallying the troops xD

That's right for realistic travel times between rounds, but I like Suzuka better than Monza.

What are the settings for suzuka? Just all rain and 100% surface water?

I'll be online for a while today, so we can practice this series and Rolex.

Big news from the Jormo stable ...
The official reveal will be at the last pre-season round ...
Still need to find a team mate though ...

Big news indeed. Firstly, the team owner is a Team of Stewards member now. :)

Secondly, the weather at Suzuka might or might NOT be as I said. I gave an example. We'll just have to see, which weather I see in Japan, when I look it up, won't we? I'll look up the Saturday weather for Japan on Thursday (tomorrow) and Friday. There *is* an American army base in Japan (at least one) so finding English weather translations shouldn't be hard.

Also, Nirv, you arrogant... my decisions are mine, mate. :)

Also, I've announced a few things.

Firstly: This week, two cars will go to the stop boxes on the backstraight at a time, and line up double file at the Suzuka West layout grid boxes. This way, we don't have a race 2, where everyone forgets who they're starting beside.

Secondly:
if a Full Wet Race is declared, pit stops are not necessary and all drivers will use Racing wets.

If a Partial Wet Race is declared, tire strategy is "fair-game" and "carte-blanche." You don't technically have to pit, but you must keep in mind, that rain tires are not fast, on a quickly drying track. However, rain tires are faster when there's a LOT of rain.

Thirdly: this series is 4:30 PM EST Saturdays, and then Race 1 starts 5:10 PM EST Saturdays.

Fourthly: the championship will be further divided into two parts: Division 1 and Division 2 will have separate champions, but there will also be an overall champions prize.

Also, it is impossible to sandbag, because I'm drawing from performance in preseason rounds, and other series to make my Division 1/2 decisions. The Team of Stewards will be messaged AFTER the Suzuka preseason round, and will all be giving me their opinions of the drivers, and all drivers will give their preferences towards which Division they want to be in. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT FASTER DRIVERS LIKE JOHNNY (podium boy, every week!) can say "I want into Division 2" and get into division 2. That DOES mean, though, that someone can challenge themselves to run in Division 1, if they're borderline split between the two. If they're fast in Division 2, but average in Division 1, they may request to be in Division 1.

Finally: I'll be verifying that everyone's car selection is finalized after Suzuka. Suzuka is the last chance to change your cars. After that, you will lose championship points for switching cars. (For example, if you switch cars after the season opener at Circuito de Madrid reverse, you will lose some/all points from the season opener.)
