Big news from the Jormo stable ...
The official reveal will be at the last pre-season round ...
Still need to find a team mate though ...

I am looking forward to the announcement.:sly:

Thank you MrM for everything ... at least now ToS had eyes in both sides of the field ... you guys in front and me at the back ... lol jk

"You win some, lose some, and wreck some." - Dale Earnhardt :indiff:

I'm sure that your new car is a better fit for you. Certainly, it'll be a better fit than the BMW. The BMW is a bit slippery, or, can be, if you touch the grass.

Yep that is very true MrM ... you had first hand experience of that at the last race ...
But I'm expecting good things from this ... not miracles but good things ...

@CND
All in good time my friend, all in good time.
Still don't know what I have to use against that Speed Demon Mafia Focus of yours ... lol

Well, I'm not sure if you plan on filling the second Jormo Racing spot. 💡

It's okay to tell people what your car is, if they're going to join Jormo. Just make sure they don't let it slip up.

Don't let them say: "The 🤬 car was great! I'm glad to be on Jormo 🤬 Team!" without censorship. :)

I am planning on getting a team mate ... I just need interested parties to pm me ... details will be revealed to them ... Disclaimer and Confidentiality forms will need to be filled out and sent to HR for record purposes ...

How many flew the flag for the Suzuka full course before me? Domo arigato ;)

No hablo Japonés.

Sounding like a proper business man. Jormo 🤬 is in business!

I might actually drive the Jormo car, at Suzuka, to see how well it fares. I mean, it is still preseason. Also, I'm not telling ANYONE which car it is. You have to talk to Mr. Jormo (the team owner) himself. :)

Mel, you race a real life red Hyundai Accent? What have you got done to it?

Yeah. I run it in H-stock class, so, legally, I have nothing done to it. It's killing me, being that I'm about to become a mechanic, that I can't fiddle around with it. I see a canvas. A 🤬 blank canvas. The things I could do to it. But, my father and I share it, so we want to maintain the driveability, and it really teaches you about corner entries/exits being in a race-car with 🤬 all season tires, at an autocross event, in 30 degree weather.

Don't let your team mate hear you say that ... I don't want to be the reason for a bitter rivalry ... lol

What? Polarbear? Naw, he's a good guy. He might not even be able to make it to Suzuka. We'll see. I hope so, anyways, for his sake.

The point is, though, that Suzuka is our only chance to ensure the new Jormo car is competitive, before the regular season starts. I want to see an "all-hands on deck" this week, ensuring that the cars are equivalent.

And, currently, I'll look into the weather situation. Right, so there's a tropical depression in the area. :scared:

It's that season...

Tropical Depression Talim, to be precise. It's currently in Taiwan...

I'll send you the setup of the vehicle to see if it needs any fine tuning ... then you can test it from there ...

Next week is almost definitely not going to happen. Driving home... Ehh, unless we leave at 6 again (7 home time) well...... Maybe I'll make it.... And this weekend.... Lake house, "boat show" a.k.a watch fishing boats drag race... And people driving snow mobiles into the lake...

NOT MY VACATION IDEA!

Wait till you get older. All of that sounds awesome to me. The lake house does anyway. C'mon, theres gotta be some talent to scout around the lake.

You drive your own car yet? I used to take mine with me to leave a couple of days early if I wanted to.

Sounds saddening, dude. I don't know, if you'll be missing too much, just racing through a Tropical depression. :) :sly:

So the weather will be very 🤬

Hahah, the Focus might do well in the rain, for one thing, and the track will be dry by race 3. Tropical Depression Tiram is passing through around 3 P.M. Friday, so the track will be soggy for qualifying and race 1, but will start to dry out for races 2 and 3.

I will be ready. Jamie and I need to practice a little bit.

Sounds good. :)

I'm disappointed that I saw passing before the apex of turn one on lap one of race one at Tsukuba. At Suzuka, that could be a problem.

Guys, remember, no passing until after the apex of turn one. Don't even initiate a pass. Hold your double file formation, please.

YEAH GUYS! :sly:

I take it this doesn't apply to grid start?

Good point; it doesn't apply to grid start, where everyone's goal is to make it into turn one before everyone else anyway. The rates of acceleration are determined by power/weight in rolling starts, but are determined by grip/drivetrain/shift times during standing starts. So, while you shouldn't have a huge advantage during a rolling start, some people will have huge advantages during standing starts.

Driving Suzuka at race speed, turns one and two are virtually one double apex corner. So are you saying we have to stay two wide through turn one but can then pass in the short chute between 1 and 2? Wouldn't it make more sense to consider turns 1 and 2 as one corner at least on the first lap, if not the entire race and to allow cars to enter it single file, but not make a pass attempt once they have reached single file status:idea:. So it would mean if you can gain on the car directly beside you and get ahead you can move up on him but not on the row in front of you? Having half the field single file in turn one would seem to make more sense than trying to have the entire field go two wide through there on cold tires.

NOTE: I will post my tune for the Mini if anyone is interested in giving it a spin. I know it's not a popular car because some feel it's underpowered, but it obviously did well at Tsukuba and has great potential in the right hands. I'll probably be going down the car list and looking for another unwanted, unloved selection for the Suzuka race. I have my eye on a couple, just have to run a few laps and pick one. I'll post the tune for that one too if anyone is interested, as long as it's not my car for the series anyway.:sly:

Mmmmhhhmm, we might run the West start/finish line as our start line. It makes no difference in terms of timing/scoring, but it will let us have more room to play with, before turns 1 & 2.

That would be a pointless solution, considering that we will have Suzuka East in the actual season

The GTPlanet Online rules provide that (paraphrasing) the goal of the start of the race is to be single file into and through the first corner. At Suzuka especially, with the huge combined first and second corner, someone who gets hung up on the outside on cold tires is rooked and forcing everyone to stay two wide until the first apex only ensures that the left half of field is stuck out on the marbles on cold tires. If you do your best and get hung up on the outside by a train of cars passing to your right there's nothing you can do, but ideally you'd like most of the field single file through corner one.

Okay, I'll put it this way: single file starts at Suzuka and Circuito de Madrid reverse.

After that, we go to tracks where double file is easier.

I am all-for clean starts, but, also for double file starts. In some cases, the clean starts are more important.

 Now I'm in trouble...lol. I wasn't advocating for single file starts, I gave up on that, I just didn't like the, "stay two wide or don't pass until the apex of turn 1", deal. The double wide start is fine, but you have to allow the field to get as single file as possible into the first turn, it just makes the racing much cleaner.

...Have you seen the field from 5th-14th? It won't thin out to single file; it'll be six wide! Even with my "no passing until the apex of turn one" we had people break formation and try to get to the far inside for three wide... This just won't work... Sorry, we have win hungry drivers... Everyone who qualifies worse than 5th wants to get into the top 5. I can't blame them. I can only warn them, penalize them, remove them, and set rules to try to solve the problem before it begins.

Certainly, if we went to Fuji, I'd be fine with it, but, the starts are so much more cramped...

I think passing should be legal before the first turn's apex as long as you can keep from making contact with another car. That is the ideal rule, but with so many drivers fighting for limited race track there needs to be no outbraking zones in the first turn on the first lap.
