I am getting 1.29.5 with a ds3 and 1.30.2 with the g27. My tire wear is light years better with the g27 though.

TnT and I will host a testing session tonight at about 9 or 10 P.M. GMT-5.

Yep. :)
All welcome. If you join the room, please state that you are from ITCC. Atleast untill I get used to all the names in the league. This way I don't give a person the boot for no reason. :)

Hope to see a few of you there.

I will see you then. Looking forward to practicing with the g27.

I'll be there to. I'll make sure everyone who's in stays.

Meantime, I'm going to go buy a pita from the restaurant-ish place, and see the girls who work there. đź’ˇ

I reported you for jumping the start in race 2, and nothing was done. Quit complaining that my car can turn a bit better.

I ran through the grass and gave the positions back. Also people in front of me weren't keeping the minimum speed. I crossed the line and accelerated, I didn't jump the start. That's why nothing happened. Read the thread some more before you jump to conclusions. And race fair within the rules, not some AWD car you can benefit from because of a slack in the regs. It doesn't matter, you'll still lose anyway :sly:

As for the AWDs, just because you don't THINK there's a gain to be had from them, doesn't make it true. It doesn't matter how much HP the car has, you got both axles working in your favor.

Seth did give his positions back. At least he didn't pull a JZR.

I never got my spot back. And you're one to talk about a overpowered car.

You should have accelerated when you crossed the start line. Remember, Suzuka has a different start line than the finish line (you got caught sleeping).

And 260 hp@1120kg compared to 276hp @1100kg is overpowered? Maybe you should go back to school, because that's horrible math.

To be fair, we weren't told when to go, so I'll give you that. And your car may have less power, but it's still super fast compared to other cars down the straights.

Really? Super fast is 210-220kmh (135mph)? I got demolished in the same car at Monza. That's the tradeoff with the RWD cars- lower hp, lower top speed, better cornering, better braking.

EDIT: I'm getting online, so lets practice (if you guys can)

Done.

You were much faster than my overpowered 4wd car down the straights at Suzuka.

Does GT5 take into account loss of power to the drive train? I used to own a WRX back in the day. I would own people off the line but top end is where everyone would catch me. :( Takes more power to spin 4 wheels than two.

I think it does. That is why the evo and scooby can have max hp but still lose on the top end.

Also, THOSE AWD SALOON CARS ARE 4 DOOR CARS WITH BIG FRONTAL DRAG AREAS. I've studied computational fluid dynamics (in my spare time) and I can tell you that the Toyota 86GT is at least 2 or 3 times better, in terms of aerodynamics. Whereas the 86GT is a two door sports car with a low roofline and small frontal area, the Lancer Evos are actually quite large. I can attest to the fact that AWD cars start quickly; I've done marshalling at Autocross events. The fastest, loudest, and most ear pounding cars are always the AWD cars, though they get poor turn-in compared to S2000s, and have much more body roll.

Sorry for the big font. I need to get my point across.

Ok, I really want a copy of race 2 now. I am quite aware of where the line is. After all, I pulled up someone in the lobby when they said go at the start/finish line, by mentioning that the start & finish lines were different. I'm pretty certain you were still ahead of me after the grass, but I'll see with my own eyes first. It could be a case where the rows in front didn't go, but we do have that "No overtaking until apex of the first corner" rule. Anyone got skype or something to send it with?

The speed will come with the G27, just takes practice. I was lucky enough to start GT5 with the wheel so I didn't have any habits to learn or unlearn, it was a clean slate. You'll probably find you need to adjust at least some of your tunes. If you need any help along the way let me know, be glad to help.

Biggest thing for me was to not over turn the wheel. With a ds3 you can be as agressive as you want with your turns.

is there a test session today?

Why is everyone so hung up on AWD vs RWD vs FWD? ... The OP car list specifies what cars can be used within this series ... We all within the rules ...
On the one lapper fun race at Suzuka I'll admit that that was a hardcore launch from the Scooby ... I managed to get into second place just behind Sake ... BUT I couldn't catch him on the straights ... The 86GT may be slower on the fast straights, but I can assure you that the AWD's are even slower ... The only time I had chances to overtake Sake was in the corners ... I took him out in the chicane to claim the win because of handling ...

In the Race 3 of Suzuka, I had MrM and one of the Scirroco's behind me on the back straight ... they overtook me like I was reversing ... BUT I did close the gap in the chicane, only to lose it on the S/F line straight ...

Its a trade off for the AWD's advantages ... every car in this series has their pro's and con's ... that's the beauty of the varied cars in this series ... just find where your car is best and exploit it ...

exactly,

What if we had to hold a "Race of Champs" at the end of the season with the guys from the other Touring Car series' running on GTP ...

I reckon that would be a fun excursion for the champs of the different series to prove their might ...

That won't work. Before we get into details, I should just say that I was banned, after being taken out in qualifying and this and that... :yuck:

Regardless, though, the Scirocco's fast, especially in the draft. I had no chances of keeping up with the Scirocco on the straights. The Scirocco's not very aerodynamic... Volkswagen/Audi Group did a great job with that motor, it turns out.

In regard to the Civic/Subaru, I was only that much faster in the draft, behind two cars. The Subaru's good out of corners, but lacks the power at the end of the straightaways. At high speeds, the differentials and such actually add twice the amount of drivetrain resistance. There's a rule: the more drive wheels, the more drivetrain, the more drivetrain loss.

Lol ... lets hope you don't pull any stunts to get yourself banned from your own series ... ;)

I'm not complaining about anything, I'm just trying to get the guys to understand that all the cars have pro's and con's ... you have to sacrifice certain things in order to gain at other things ... e.g. sacrifice top speed for corner maneuverability ...

Yeah. Well, Seth really can't complain about your Subarus though. You guys are running the minimum weight for your car... (1169 kg?) and 265 hp? Or...?

I really need to update that, too, though. Also, the Subaru 22B STi is also being used. I'm actually curious about whether or not it's fast enough. Now that everyone's done their tuning, the lap times are dropping more and more. The 22B STi was still a bit quick on the stock tuning setup at the specs I ran, but, I think that it's a little (four tenths) off pace still.

Finally, after some testing last night, Seth seems pretty fast in his 86GT. I'm thinking that the 86GT is at decent specs, at least for awhile. I doubt that it needs changing much. So, I think we're somewhat done with the talk of AWD/FF/FR/MR drivetrain differences. AWD cars will do well on city circuits. :dunce: FR cars will do well on sweeping tracks. :dunce: FF cars will do well at longer tracks. :dunce: MR cars will do well at tracks with no straightaways. :dunce: Seems simple enough.

I was thinking on the way into work this morning that we should actually setup a dedicated test day close to the weekend race for everyone to get a feel of their car with traffic ...
And an opportunity to suss out the competition ... :sly:

We could see which days are best for people. I like that everyone only has to take about two hours per week, and anything more is "non-obligatory." But, especially at the city circuits, practice in traffic is invaluable.
