I never have currency issues - I have 220K silver - had 180K before a login bonus yesterday - next bonus is huge for playing for a week

But I have like 46 bronze
All I do battles for now is research

You need to use a plane that has low repair cost and high bonuses. Something like the Ki-43-III

Downloaded this an hour ago and got to it. Really cool game! Everything feels very slow though, but I guess it won't once I progress through the plane trees. I'm not too interested in the ground battles so sticking with aviation here.

First match was getting used to the controls. Dropped in mid-match, first death by being intimate with the ground. Second and third deaths were attributed by two enemy planes firing me down at the same time. Then the it truly began!

Second match, I'll count this as my first game results.

Unless everyone just sucks, I feel I did pretty damn good. I will surely continue playing this game!

All the new guys are put together as you are all playing low rank aircraft. I got that regularly too when I first started. Go to rank 4 and 5 and you get the pro players who will be being kind if they let you live past the first engagement.

I assumed as much. Still, fairly ok for a first-timer no? Not trying to get cocky, I truly can't wait to get my rear handed to me.

Ok, so I decided to join this "War Thunder" business, downloaded the client and gave it a few runs. I can tell where the allure comes from, it is fun when you engage in plane battles or try to fill an enemy tank with shells from afar. I am more of a ground battle guy, to be quite honest I can't fly worth a s:censored:t.
Mind you, I didn't do that badly when it came to my first tank battle. I did win my first tank battle, so there's that. Airplanes? My best rank so far was 5th out of 10 or so planes, and that took some doing. I wonder how it is when you move up the ranks and get better weapons. Does any of the pros in here have any tips to a random rookie such as myself?

Ah, and my nickname is Apex_HC, in case you're wondering.

I'm in the same boat (or in this case tank) as you're in. I can't fly worth a damn yet I am a decent tanker. I sent you a fr on War Thunder (my name is DurWINNING). Maybe we can play together one of these days.

Tips for being a decent pilot:
Never go head-on with another plane unless you absolutely know you're a good shot and have better guns than the plane you're going at
Pick a targeting/convergence distance and stick with it
Don't join a furball, as it is better to wait at altitude and pick a target that is suitable to attack
Try to stick with your team unless they aren't climbing and are going straight for the enemy
Be fully aware of your surroundings. If you're putting your focus on a target, it could be possible that a friendly will be close by and that brings a chance of colliding with them if you and/or them aren't watching the minimap/knowing what's around

I had a situation the other night where I was at a point where my controls were tightening up due to speed and I was unable to avoid a friendly. I felt awful about it and took full blame since I put myself into a situation where it took a team mate out.

Sure thing Dur, we had some good battles tonight. Of course, you did a bit more than me, considering I am still learning the ropes, but it was a enjoyable night. Might need to practice a bit more and level up my crew to avoid embarassing moments such as standing still under a hail of fire whilst trying to repair the darn tank...

I may have broken that rule one or two times already, I'm afraid. Better lay that habit to rest, unless I want more head-on collisions...

As for the rest, thanks for the tips. :)👍 I still need to learn how to shake off someone who's taking potshots at your tail, and to avoid getting the pilot K.O.'d by a random bullet. Balancing the throttle and the movement of the plane is tricky for me still, another thing that I need to get used to. And I haven't even touched realistic battles yet...

Yeah, best to get use to arcade, at least for combat purposes. Realistic can come later if you want to move up to that. If you want your pilot to have a better chance of surviving, you've got to add points to vitality.

I do my best to avoid head-on engagements as the DS4 is not the greatest for precise aiming, but there are times where it's not possible to avoid.

Oh yeah, I'm doing that. I try to get as much points towards vitality as I can at this point, experienced way too many K.Os already. And that's when I don't get shot from behind by other eager folk. I did get a few decent planes so far, I've already fully upgraded one of the American Peashooters to the max, and added a few bombs for ground battles. You never know...

Oh so you're playing on the PS4? Or DS4 on PC? I was originally going to wait to get the PlayStation for this but I couldn't wait. :p

Ok, so apparently I actually kept a screenshot of my first tank battle, go figure. Here it is:

And today, I had a really good air arcade mission. They should call me "Tank Buster", because that's what I do the most. Air-to-air combat? About as good as a rock (rocks don't really fly by themselves, geddit?), but still managed to shoot two planes down:

Be careful with the head on advice though as it isn't always possible to avoid. In that case when you are about 0.7miles away. Role over and dive then role 90 degrees and turn. Works 95% of the time as a dodge.

Yep, I forgot that part about evading. I've seen some get to around 1.2km, fire a few shots and then go into evading maneuvers.

I just had one of the better games I will ever have in the 105 Sherman. How the hell do I show you guys the replay?

Hit share, go upload video, trim it then upload to YouTube then copy a link here

Well I might as well give it a shot. It'll be my first upload to youtube. Keep in mind 3 things:

1st: It an Arcade battle on Poland
2nd: After I die in the 105 Sherman I switch to my M8A1. Afterwards I jump into a plane to shoot down a bomber. Sure enough the bomber bombs my M8A1 and kills it.
3rd: After all this I hop into my M4 Sherman (i.e the one after the M4A1 Sherman) and proceed to get a few more kills before succumbing to enemy fire.

So I can't actually upload the replay to youtube. Kinda disappointed. Anyway to send it to you guys ingame?
