Well... American planes can compete with the Russians in terms of being under tiered, imho. Probably because the .50s suck in Arcade, where most players are.

The ShVAK's suck when stock... :P

Main reason Russians excel in arcade is the "balanced" FM to give "WEP" and in-air reloading to compensate for lack of ammo.

Americans? Undertiered? They're ridiculously overtiered because they don't excel in anything but bombers..

I hate having to deal with bombing moving ground targets.

Edit: Two missions in a row where I achieved nothing. This one I had a wing tore off by a Russian plane in one burst. :banghead:

I usually bomb ships if available. Targets big enough even for me to hit lol

Get down low, low, low to hit em. :)

DW, I often get long losing streaks. I got 1-shotted in my D-13 by (Russian) airfield AAA while in a 750-800kph bank...

Ever heard of the F6F Hellcat? Even the P-51 faces A6M2 mod 11's and Bf 109 G-2's...

Yeah, noticed that after spectating another player in a Ju-88.

Then I ended up getting too low in a match after that and got caught in my own bombs. :dunce::lol:

And they lose miserably against those planes.
Basically for American planes, story goes like this:
- Plane (e.g. F6F, P-51 or F7F)
-- Newbies play it
--- Hard to play
---- Fail at it
----- Due to stats, devs lower BR
------ More newbies come and play it
------- Repeat
-- Decent players play it
--- Take advantage of undertiering
---- Profit
-- Pros play it
--- Create amazing "OP" reputation for P-51, F7F etc.
---- Newbies see, but can't do well
----- Complain
------ Possible further under tiering

Along with the player-skill-based BR system...

Go take the F6F, the P47, the F7F into RB. Those things are utter monsters!

A quick match in RB will show you why, as well: Nobody climbs and three minutes into the match, you've got your entire team lawn mowing - long before any enemy contact.

You could lose with the Fw 190 A-4 that way

Downloading this on my computer now... I have doubts that it can actually run it, but what's the harm in trying. :sly:
Pick ultra low quality, legacy graphics card, fully low settings and I'll check the other settings. If you can get 60+ fps with that, you can start ramping up the settings. :)

First attempt froze after log-in. Second attempt ended with a blue screen. That was with low settings. I'll try to lower it further.

Edit: Lowest possible settings still gave same blue screen results. Graphics card can't handle it.

Could it be because my experience shows that you get shot down within a minute of the contact to enemy unless you're going for ground targets, no matter how much you duck and weave and try zoom and boom?

What are your computer's specs?

If you side-climb, then boom and zoom an enemy below you, you shouldn't get shot down. Going for ground targets may have you survive a tad longer, but you will die in the end. American planes down on the deck vs Japanese planes is suicide.

Give me an example of such an encounter you are describing.

Any of the dozens of RB missions I play every day. Enemy always seems to be higher than my team, no matter how we climb.

Americans vs what nation?

Germans and Brits, who tend to have pretty climb-biased planes.. And in some cases, their planes have better performance at lower altitude than Americans.

Hmmmm... fair enough, I'll look into this... I won't be playing for about a month as I will be overseas (Singapore and USA) with just a Macbook. :(

Also, any of you guys play Star Citizens?

Don't even know what Star Citizen is.

This happened to me on Ruhr earlier. First match of the day actually. I managed to drop bombs on the target directly ahead of me, then got shot down.. although I was planning on crashing it once I dumped my bombs anyway, so it saved me the effort.

Spitfires are great climbers and turn very well, but they're generally slow, have bad energy retention and can't hope to keep up with most American planes in a dive. You can basically gain an energy advantage on them even if they're at higher altitude. They're also quite short on ammo and can't take as much damage.

Plus, there's the matchmaking advantage the US gets.

No. I've been looking at Elite: Dangerous, though, as its coming out within two weeks. Dunno, not sure if I'll get it, though.

Had something happen that I never experienced before last night. Was getting shot and the screen went blurry for a moment. I wasn't pulling any hard Gs so I'm not really sure what that was suppose to be for.

You were just shot down by rockets from enemy planes?

I don't think I was. Do any tier 1 or 2 planes have rockets?
Hurricanes, F4F etc..
F6F, I-153, I-16, Il-2, LaGG-3 (early)...
Soviet rockets have an ability to set a distance detonator, which makes them useful against air targets. Sometimes they shot me down, and I had a blurry screen, too. I have hit some planes with rockets, too, but only in arcade. They're pretty useful against heavy bombers. :D

That would be it then. Can't remember which plane exactly, but it was either the LaGG-3 or the I-153 that got me.
