All are icons in their own way, but the one that speaks to me the most in this group is The Goddess.

I'm assuming he is talking about the ridiculous match up of cars. Usually when you're deciding which car is "best" they'll at least be in a similar category.

Why does this keep happening.

They ARE, dammit! Iconic classics!

Thanks for putting the Citroen DS on the top; I thought it was the Mach 1.

What the 🤬 is the matter with you people? I quit. You guys find every possible reason to whine and complain about how I'm doing something. I'm surprised nobody noticed the two typos at the top of the screen, but I guess nobody else knows how to spell it either!

Somebody else can take over if they want, but good luck!

Isnt this EXACTLY what one of the mods predicted?

You can't have a personal crisis every time somebody gets a little upset with you. Grow up a bit and stick to what you signed up to do. We're all voting, it's all working, and if you quit now, it will look REALLY bad on you personally.

EDIT:

@daan called it.

Does it look like I care at this point? All I find on GTPlanet is hostility and a lack of understanding.

More people voted for the Ford Mustang than the Citroen DS. All faith in humanity lost. I hope world war III starts and wipes out all life as we know it in 3... 2... 1... :p

But seriously, if you can't appreciate the Citroen DS, go eat some polonium. Or at least be aware that you'll be shot on sight if you approach the borders of The Most Serene People's Republic of Alice. With culture. So much culture it will make you explode. And then we'll feed your body to babies. And the babies will absorb the culture and become superheroes and save the world from the evil forces of Enoch Powell's clone's best friend's creepy uncle. And then you will have been redeemed.

True, a Mustang of that era is extremely awesome (I prefer a '70 Boss 302 myself), and if the DS wasn't there, I'd have voted for it. the DS is more iconic because of all the things that are a part of it.

I bet that if you could see who voted for what, you will find that it was the same people who would say the DS is slow, ugly, lacks 'Merica-ness and is worse than the Mustang for those reasons alone.

That said, I'm not hating on the P1800S. It's just not quite as much as the DS.

Oh, I love all 3, but the DS is a car which stands out above all others in automotive history. Not just because it was beautiful, not just because it's iconic (both of the others are), but because it was so incredibly, incredibly ahead of its time that in many ways it still holds up well today.

Somebody else can take over if they want, but good luck!

Sure. I'll restart it for you. Unless @YSSMAN or any of the moderators say otherwise...

But I'll run it rather differently.

I get what you mean. It's just a rather difficult choice, and more people (at least here) seem to be familiar with the Mustang.

I've never heard of up until a few months ago. I'd argue the legacy behind the Mustang is much more famous.

The Mustang is almost certainly more famous than the DS in the US, but I'm fairly sure most car nuts in the US will still be aware of its significance, just as most car nuts here in Europe will be aware of the difference between a Shelby GT350 and a Boss 302. At the end of the day though, this is a case of best, not most iconic, and the DS was a car which stayed in production for 20 years and was still ahead of its time when they stopped making it, while the Mustang is a 3 door saloon with a big engine.

I love both, but the DS is better.

while the Mustang is a 3 door saloon with a big engine.
It's not a 3 door saloon with a big engine. It's a 3 door saloon with a big engine and a spoiler. That's like a million times betterer, dude.

I'm being sarcastic, but it's actually a coupe; not a saloon. And it was fairly significant in the US, similar to the DS being significant in Europe.

Ironically enough the original Mustang weighed about as much as a Miata and had a small 6 cylinder engine.

I wasn't just saying that because I am a Mustang fan either.

Maybe it is different depending in which side of the pond you are on but almost everyone will know what a Mustang is wether or not they are a car fan.

Slash. World's best car. Not world's 'most known car.' The DS had technology and innovation in 1955 that not even new Mustangs can match in many regards.

Watch:

Yes I get that.

I was just making a point for Roger.

There's nothing wrong with only focusing on a certain group of cars and choosing to remain ignorant to others.

However, there is something wrong with doing this and then going to comparisons involving cars that you have chosen to ignore and thinking that you are entitled to an opinion.

Want to ignore everything but old Fords? Fine. Just go somewhere where that is accepted. There are plenty of forums for that.

I am on other boards for that.

Is this a bad time for the "Best is subjective" argument?

I can get why the Mustang and DS would be "best" for some people's criteria. Some are a bit biased, but I get the idea.

Also, no love for the Volvo? Seems like a decent candidate.
