Canda got lucky with Belarus beating Sweden, and if the USA won I would be happy but Canada has the best team in the world on paper so if they didnt win i would be amazed that the US beat them since Canada has the best team on paper. Canada did have the best team on paper but not by much .....on paper, the Swedes, U.S. and Russians were very close .....but if you take a look at the Americans and Canadians you could say the U.S. forwards had just enough firepower as our forwards (Modano, Hull, Amonte, Roenick, Tkachuck, LeClair, Weight, etc.) .......as far as goalies are concerned, we were very well matched (although there were 3 Canadian goalies who were having better seasons in the NHL than Cujo, Brodeur and Belfour .....they are Roy (the best ever), Theodore and Burke (these were the goalies at the all-star break for the North American team)) ......the only edge we had was our defenceman
perhaps Canada lucked out not having to play Sweden which obviously made their trip to the final easier but Canada would have beet the Swedes anyways ........you could also suggest that the U.S. lucked out with Russia sleeping the first two periods of their semi-final game .....the States weren't anything spectacular in that game and in the third period, Russia was playing like they know how to play and they were all over the States ......i'd say that they simply ran out of time
actually, the Swedes weren't the best team in the tournament .......the U.S. were .......they were unbeaten, had scored the most goals, had let the least number of goals in and were more consistent than any other team .....they played strong from the get go and you could tell they were serious about these olympics ....my heart goes out to the U.S. mens team because i know they wanted that gold bad and it was a tough loss
but honestly i can't see why you would have been
amazed Zero because we were only slightly better than you guys on paper and you were tremendous throughout the tournament ..... we, on the other hand, were initially $hit that slowly progressed each game ......it's a tough loss for you guys but if we would have lossed, the players would feel terrible for the rest of their lives because they would remember letting their nation down ....you guys are primarily a baseball, football and basketball nation ...... hockey is Canada's pride and joy (and beer
) and we take our hockey very seriously ...... ultimately, Canada won because of our will and determination and grace too ...(The Tragically Hip ....yeah, they're Canadian)
But we still won!!!! J/K
