a solution for the shaky screen is to just pause and unpause as fast as you want. or you can just pretend your car is getting crazy wheel hop. There is LAN(go to arcade mode). You can use a garage car, only in 2P Battle though. It should say "memory card 1" and memory card 2" at the top left after selecting 2P battle. What cars are you driving? civics with racing exhausts? there are lots of cars that sound awesome. Dont expect to buy some stock 3-cylinder car and it to sound good. Oh, and they didnt create the sounds, they recorded the actual cars sound(i beleive half of them).

I had posted about my frustrations with GT4 as well, but it didn't make it past the moderators. I'm surprised that this one made it through! Anyways, I believe that PD had set the standard for racing games. I've extensively played 1 2 and 3 but some things about GT4 disappoint me. I DO believe that GT4 is a great game, but at the same time it should have been alot better. The original release date was almost about a year and a half ago?

I remember one of the complains about the GT series was the horsepower restrictions. Now we don't have one and i hate it. It's difficult to gauge what kind of car, with what modifications, would be competitive in a race. It's easy to build a car that's extremely fast and blows the doors off the competition. That is not what i'm looking for. I'm looking for a challenge! I guess "Beware what you wish for" applies here. But i think a simple solution could be in order for gt5. Recommended horsepower:weight ratios or something along those lines. It would satisfy both sides of the camp on the issue.

I had written alot of other things as well, but they're really minor issues. Things like no shortcut bars at the top of the screen. Just things that should have been polished out.

Everyone should be able to complain about things they dont like. In the same fashion everyone should be able to praise the things they love! I love the new driving missions. I love the graphics, the new AI and even the endurance races! It's important to give a company feedback, but constructive feedback. Don't complain about something if you dont really have an solutions to it. Because in the next one they might do something that you hate even more!

- small, uneven, widely spread grids of cars in a race, and not one series that even tries to simulate an actual race series with crazy things like "rules". You can say "just build a slower car, use the A-spec points to judge" - whatever. A-spec points are stupid and inaccurate, and part of the fun of having rules in a series is the challenge of building the best platform up to the limit of the rules.

- terrible terrible TERRIBLE AI

- interlacing jitters or whatever you want to call them, that DO occur during game play.

other then that its the best racing game ever.... :|
 
GT4 is a great game. Sure there are bugs, but everything has some bugs. For $50(I actually paid $80 since I imported) it is a great game. I have purchased many games for $50 that have been just horrible. This game isn't horrible at all, it is great. The graphics are good considering they are on old hardware. The ps2 is old in terms of hardware, and it still does a good job. I think GTA looks better on the PC than on the ps2 or xbox, but I also paid over $1000 for the pc and only $150 for the ps2.

I got everything I expected from GT4. Sometimes you set your expectations too high for things the longer you wait and the more internet hype there is. You think your disappointed now, wait until you get married. I user 480p so no screen jitters here. I wish I could race the Catterham against other cars, but I can't. I have 700 other cars to choose from that I can race against other cars. At least they included it. As far as too many Skylines, PD is a japanese company, maybe they have a better licensing agreement with Nissan than they do with Chevrolet.

If you don't like GT4, trade it in for something else. I never sent a complaint about Ford Racing 2, I just got rid of it.
 
Pointless. Nothing you've complained about is new, we've all heard it thousands of times.

Yeah, this is really pointless .....its a game for goodness sake........sure it has its faults but if you want realism then go for a drive ok!
 
They could at least give us a good manual, 6 pages suck, there are so many things i would like to know, but they aren't in the manual.

Why are there so many Japanese. cars in the used car lot, could it be so hard to give us some more europ cars?

My Impression is they are doing everything to impress the asian folks(200 page manual), butthey could do some more for the rest of us
 
I can't load a game from the menu or anywhere.I have to restart to do a different file.

why do you need garage on arcade?? why cant you just go on gt mode and drive where you want??
i dont care about power figures going nuts...
a spec is kinda stupid..(i dont care those point any more.)
yes there is like 30 different skylines and nsx etc etc etc..where is ford cosworths legendary rally cars...
WHY cant they put rewind on replay..its anoying when you are trying to take photo and if you missed your shoot you cant rewind at all just have to start all over again.
i have pal version of gt4 and i havent noticed any bugs yet..

but this is best driving game ever so i dont mind those little things...

If you want to make a point to SCEA/Polyphony/Sony you can boycott all of their products. That is what I do for other things e.g. France.

sorry i'm not the perfect typer....you can call it fanboy, i call it sticking up for a game, i like the game, i dont play it much but i like it...all i was doing was disproving his comments, he starts a thread taht turns into a flame war and then u say i'm fan boy cuz i state my opinion, i'm sorry all u people can do is sitaround and say hes a fan boy cuz he dont spell check...sorry but no, i have all the consoles and dont favor one over the other, i just have played forza demo and compared to gt4, its uncomparable except online which doesnt matter to me anyways


people obviously have no respect for how hard it is to make a game, make the graphics perfect, make it bug free, o and u dont blame the company blame the beta testers, they are the ones who tested it out for bugs

but i think if u guys can bash on a game that is easily the best racin ggame on a console as easy as u complain and b1tch, then go make ur own and we'll compare them
 
You have 700+ cars to choose from, yet you complain about a particular 2 or 3 cars not being in the game.


Maybe the HP figures are off with a reason, garage numbers and real numbers aren't the same in real life either when your car ages.



The game definitely is not perfect, but demanding a refund because a game which already has so much to offer doesn't offer whatever you were expecting is ridiculous. I think all the ultra violet sunlight got to your head to much being under the hole in the ozone layer and such.
 
Im new to this board, but not new to GT1,2,3... just bought GT4, and im dissapointed myself. Theres alot of things they missed out/made worse then GT3.

#1 in Arcade mode, for 1st player, you cant pick a car from you garage. wtf??
#2 you can't pick Slicks in arcad mode
#3 all the HP #'s are off again!
#4 Is it me or does it seem like the car plow way too much??
#5 the options menu sucks (gt3 has so much more options )
#6 the garage car list is setup gay
#7 the pyhics are off ( gotta make the rear susp softer to make it oversteer?? ya ok)

I think for PD to take this long on this game, its deff is not what it was hyped up to be. I think the graphic's are great, and the game overall is pretty good. Its the lil things that made it suck. And i really hate how the cars plow so much. I Auto-x and drift in real life, also drove my freinds RX7 FD, and let me tell you it certianly does not plow as it does in the game. IT just really bothers me how i am in the apex of a corner with slick on and gun it and it jus plows on alot of the cars, im using the FD as a example...( and yes i drove with slicks in real life in auto-x, and they do break lose if you have the power!!)

I really hope instead of adding stupid features like they did in GT4 they do diff for gt5, they leave the space for the important stuff. Make is simple and clean, good graphics, GOOD pyhics, and a GOOD Arcade mode.

umm... these are comoon mistakes for noobs to teh game to make

1. yes u can put ur garage cars in teh game, there are tabs in arcade mode at teh tiop to load from mem cards

2. who cares, regular tires make u learn mroe to handle ur car better and why race arcade anyways

3. we have come to be used to this deal with it

5. options menu as in what? sound effects volume, music volume? does it really matter

6. its a list of cars, how is it gay

well i love GT4!! and i loved 1, 2 and 3 too!!

i cant think of anything that i really hate about GT4. i'm not a die hard enthusiast... i dont spend hours getting golds on the licences (i'm quite happy to just scrape a bronze, then move onto the next test.... the licences are a necessary evil, as far as i'm concerned!)

the graphics are awesome!! (PAL)

i hated the idea of b spec mode.... now i use it on any race i cant be arsed to do myself LOL

i love the inclusion of NOS, was a real help at the start (i stop myself using it now)

i even adore the menu music!! (actually way more than the race music, but i turn it off)

i wish there were more aesthetic options for modding cars, like in NFS U2, for us boy racers!! thats prob my only gripe...

i also wish my car was in it (Seat Leon 1.8T Cupra)... the Ibiza Cupra is ok tho LOL

NO!! thats what i was talking about when i was referring to Arcade mode. You cant pick your own damm car from the garage.

devilman2075 - And who wants to play arcade mode you say? hmm jee wasnt one of the best features in GT to be able to take your modded cars and race it against your freinds modded cars? I know i get sick of racing a Computer all the time, maybe you dont? Plus its so stupid you cant race your car the way you have it modded. I just dont see the sense in leaving somthing like that out?

btw, i dunno if id consider myself a "noob" since i did get mostly silver and golds in all the license ;) So ya, im not just a "noob" rating this game. I did give it a chance, and i did learn the phyics on it. Im not saying the game is bad. Im saying it isnt that much better then GT3.

If you take GT2 vs GT3, the comparsion is huge between the games. GT3 was a 100% improvment over GT2, graphics, phyics, and game layout wise. But going from GT3 - Gt4, the improvemnts arent as big, as good as most people though theyd be, or me atleast. But i can see from alot of forums i am not the only one who views gt4 this way.
 
I came from GT1 and 2 to GT4 and I'm satisfied with it. :D
 
see guys someone said something about fanboys haters objective people...i liked that. what some people here should do is ask yourself why you are on this board and talk about stuff you don't like. surely not because you hate the game. the beauty of this game manifests itself in the fact that youre thinkin about what to improve even now after its out and cant be changed.
you meet some chic thats boring and ugly u thinkin nothin and forget about her. ur opinion is clear. u meet the beautiful queen with that certain spice and u get home and think...damn...if her ass was jst this lil rounder shed be 10 times better looking...then you lean back and think whatever im glad i met her and she is beautiful. see what im getting at.
so lets just take it easy on the issue and i share the confusion why this thread got through!? and please(!!!) think about PD...not putting in stuff like the DS or the 80s M3 or some GT500 is not bad intention or impossible...but u need stuff to look forward to. we now covered the japanese car world with all the classics that i dont even know entirely just like kaz probably does not know that there was an italian M3 that looked like the normal one once. this is all coming to us but later. this company knows it too good. i dont believe they are this ignorant! and sure as hell not without a reason. so enjoy the revelation of GT4 (on my tv i got some blurry stuff sometimes too and a glitch there and here but i dont care. i could kill em for havin the E190 and no E30 (damn almost winin now:D)but hey i still dont care...thats all our personal lil favs here and there some are in some are not). i usually never participate in this winin thread stuff or forza vs this and that but as i saw just the way things were being pointed out at the beginning of this thread i couldnt restrain myself. this will be the one and only time though. feel free to decide wether im a hater fanboy or whatever:) later boys n gals

Having said that, my PAL release has no "jitters", hasn't screwed up yet, and the only "bug" I can see is a "line" when entering the tunnel of Deep Forest (reverse I think)

They made a lot of stupid mistakes, they could have made a better game if they corrected them.(is it so hard to add some more europ cars to the used car section?)(would it be so hard to add driving aids to 2player memory card battles)
it took them over 4 years to "complete" the game but it still doesn't look finished.

I think PD has had somethign else on their mind, maybe getting gt5 ready for PS3?

The 5 seconds penalties are my biggest problem. Not because it encourages me to drive a little more conservatively, but because only you can get it, and not your opponent. 'I'm sorry I broke a little too early into a corner, causing my rival to crash into the back of me only to send me hurtling into a wall, giving me a 5 second penalty, and then having to suffer the embarrasment of seeing my rival go off into the distance on the 5th lap of one of the hard rally courses.'

Strange you should mention the menu music because i also really like it! makes the menu seem so sylish and executive( only way i could describe it )

its the things like this that make GT4 such a good game in my opinion, the attention to detail cant be knocked

Gt4 is also selling extremely well, so far its sold over 600.000 copys in the USA in three days!! good to see the gran turismo love hasnt been lost
