I have the GT, GT2, GT3, GT4P, and the new GT4. All off them are excellent games.
GT4 is the best game ever made for PS2 in my opinion.
There are some bugs but who cares?

I think all the people that are completely happy with this game are idiots.. :) how do u like that..

Their are apparent bugs all over the place and for a person taht actually makes games.. I.E. (*ME*).. its quite noticable.. i mean i posted a quick hack on getting TCS/ASM to work in 2 player mode.. things like this are Quite "MAJOR" considering the game has an interface for it... Their is many things in the game that have been cut.. for all you non-programmers/designers its called "Feature Creep" and what winds up happening is all the features you wanted to have, well, some have to be cut hence forth a deadline by the publisher.. SONY!

SONY is proably the ones to blame, infact id bet my life on it.. However Take out functionality that was with all of the old games is taking a step backwards and not forwards which is completely unforgivable. For all you 13yr old monkeys that cry when GT4 hit the stores, open your eyes and understand that this australian does have a point.. and SONY SHOULD BE WRITTEN BY ALL OF US, You'd be surprised What big Buisness does when 100,000+ letters role in with questions about their "PUBLISHED" product,, Yes things would change so stop condemning that man and JOin in the fight for god sakes..!!

devilman2075 - And who wants to play arcade mode you say? hmm jee wasnt one of the best features in GT to be able to take your modded cars and race it against your freinds modded cars? I know i get sick of racing a Computer all the time, maybe you dont? Plus its so stupid you cant race your car the way you have it modded. I just dont see the sense in leaving somthing like that out?

Errr, you can race your own garage cars in 2 player. You can't load your garage in the arcade modes single player however you can still use your on cars in a spot race on any track but within the GT mode so theres really no point in being able to do exactly the same thing in arcade mode. I don't see what your problem is.

First let me say i lOVE gran turismo ive bought every version since the begining. I got all golds in gt3 and i thoroughly enjoy racing games. I wouldnt be dissapointed with the game if they delivered on they're own promises. Like what happened to the weather effects as stated on the official website?? you can't even change it to night??? Also i read somewhere that gt3 was supposed to include skidmarks on the ground and they were also supposed to "build up" over time, again what happened? I read another article where they claimed to be talking to a tire expert about the tire wear and how to make it more realistic i guess they fired him or something because i cant see it. No online play yeah yeah moan and groan, im sorry but i have noone to play against who is any good and the inclusion of this would increase the replay value 100 fold. Not to mention that im sure many of you have thought to yourselves at one time or another "i wonder how i stack up to the rest of the world?" with online you know. im sure there are other things i cant think of but the lack on innovation in this game is the most dissapointing. wow more cars and half of them i wouldnt look twice at, photomode ugh wow i can take pictures of my fake cars that i dont own, and ooooooh the big innovator b spec, wow now i dont even have to play the game what a brilliant addition. So to be clear i'm only dissapointed because i loved this game so much and really wanted it to be the best ever but its just gt2 on ps2. Also yes the engine sounds still suck too, yes they recored them all and thats why they sound good at idle because you can just loop that sound over and over, but the actual note going through the revs and up hills and down hills you need to build a virtual engine model, sounds like they have one they just tweak for everything. So yes i love the games and im deffinately not any kind of fanboy i just want better for the series i love, it seems they have turned into "rock star" developers who just dont really care anymore.

On the other hand, I hope someone from PD is lurking about on gaming forums and taking some of the constructive critisizm to help with future games.

I realize you're angry about that racist comment so this isn't so much directed at you but guys come on...

There really isn't any room for S**T like this on this board. I'm willing to bet that over half the users of this forum are under the age of 20 and really shouldn't be subjected to this.

I can understand a topic going off topic but this "Hate your nationality" stuff is not for a forum about a video game.

has anyone ever rented a game before buying it? it helps but its hard to get a new release from the rental store ....

one thing i find odd is that my 69 camaro sounds like a 4 banger with a resenated coffe can monza tip...maybe i set it up wrong...

but dispite all the hoopla of complaints...(which i rarley stress about unless im loosing race after race and get frustrated.) i cant put down the frikin controller...are my gaming standards too low?....am i addicted?...

why is it a game that warents a four page post about of complaints is so incredibly popular ? .... why can't i stop playin this game ?

i think polyphony has created a program for mind control and gt5 is going to be an 8 bit game of pong ...but i'll still love it ....

i also heard that people with add (adhd?) can consume an entire life time playing video games..

Well if your simple minded and have no concept of how a car really handles then i guess people like you can learn to love anything ;) Im sure you own Need for speed under ground 2 aswell ( the phyics are amazing on that game wouldnt you say? )

And yes there's hunderds of thousands of games being sold. But you dont know what the game will be like till you purchase it and it actually try it out. By then you are stuck with the game even if you dont like it. I made the assumption that GT4 was going to be the ultimate racing game so i didnt even think twice when i bought it.

They added stupid features which take up space, when they could have improved on other things instead. Why couldnt they have made 2 cds instead if they couldnt fit everything on 1 cd? like GT2... Even if the game would have been more $$ people would have still bought it no doubt. What $15-20 bux more? fine with me ill pay a lil extra to get the ultimate sim for a game consule.

Im not saying that GT4 isnt good. It is a great game. Its just theres lil things they took out that GT3 featured, and should have deff left it in gt4.


Another thing i noticed. In 2 player mode, for replays, you cant make it 1 screen mode anymore. WTF is up with that?? what is the point in watching a replay in split screen mode?

Yeah seriously... I REALLY feel that the "jitter" is unacceptable. I can deal with pretty much everything else, but that graphic problem just makes the game seem unfinished. Did the beta testers all have the same TV or what?

As an objective person, I must say that Gt4's graphics are by far the best for a racing game, until Forza comes out.

You aren't saying Forza's graphics look better are you? Colors are all messed up, much less detail than GT4. I'll look into it though, just to have another sim. I just wish the DFP would work with it (with FF).

Ive been playing LFS for only 3-4 months now. I picked up on the Drifting pretty fast and advanced in it fast aswell. Had no problem connecting from corner to corner. Im having a very difficult time with GT4.

so i guess if you cant get good at a game right away it must suck...people like you have a hard time with complex games and usually prefer drifting in MARIO KART....

see ..easy.... we both know what was being said in that conversation and what your meaning was....

so maybe take a closer look at what i said and youll see that I admitted to the problems with the game but wasnt really bothered by them....i offered a soulotion to bying a game you wont like and being stuck with it......and even gave an example of something that struck me as odd...then i concluded with a little humor about how much i play the game despite the fact that i noticed a few problems

and i dont own nfsu2.. i might when game stop has it for $20 ....and its not a game you buy for the physics..thats like sayin that the tony hawk series doesnt have real skate boarding physics...well duh its pure arcade entertainment ...
and i dont know what other console game physics youre comparing the physics too ...maybe your comparing it to all the power overs you pulled off in red rx7 (which is a nice car)...

despite the problems with gt4 its simply the best racing simulator you can buy for $200 ......and just so you dont copy and paste that and tell me that people like me are retarded...ill clarify....ps2=$150.....gt4=$50...total=$200

if you need the main point of this post summerized ill type it and pm it too you. ;)
 
Why is everyone so caught up on the jittery interlacing thing? It only happens on like two or three courses and lasts for maybe 10 seconds at the beginning of the race and then goes away. It's hardly noteworthy, and certainly can't be held as a major negative against GT4.

I'm more annoyed by the long pre-race crap that can't be skipped.
 
Because a game so highly anticipated should have been polished to a high shine before it was released. It happens a lot for me during replays on my HDTV and it pisses me off. Odd that other games don't have this issue if it's so hard to fix.

Edit: Actually it's a hard jitter before some races, and just a jumpy glitch during some replay angles, but it's still pretty dang annoying for a game that was released over a year late.

It just seems like a major overreaction to something that affects like 10 seconds of one's race at Special Stage Route 5.

The 5 seconds penalties are my biggest problem. Not because it encourages me to drive a little more conservatively, but because only you can get it, and not your opponent. 'I'm sorry I broke a little too early into a corner, causing my rival to crash into the back of me only to send me hurtling into a wall, giving me a 5 second penalty, and then having to suffer the embarrasment of seeing my rival go off into the distance on the 5th lap of one of the hard rally courses.'

Exactly and even sometimes if you barely tap your opponent you get the penalty. 👎

A major overreaction would be to throw my PS2 out the window. But who really cares anyway. Like I said, hopefully they will fix it when and if they release an online disc or whatever isn't going to come out for another two years.

I agree about closing the thread. No one is going to lodge a complaint, nor is anyone at these companies going to listen.

capnlarge, I'm not going to argue anymore, in this thread at least. I agree it's not that bad. I just scratch my head that this made it through testing. I can and will continue to play and enjoy the game and when GT4½ comes out I'll probably buy it too.

Your wrong ;) i already learned that skill in a few days... I was actually comparing the game to LFS, Toca Driver, etc.

I agree. Haha... I bought that expensive ass Steel Battalion the other day. The game is fun, but $150 bucks. Whoa!

Since this thread is all ****ed up and off-topic...is anyone else kinda excited about the possibilities for Bspec mode? I would totally dig Bspec'ing a rally, with a POV inside the car, in the navigator's seat, giving the driving commands.
