Whats up with the corvette choices for this game? A '54? Yea, thanks for the V6 blue flame guys. The 63 was cool with the split window, but the ones with the power (of the C2 era) were 65-67, especially the L-88 optioned cars in 67. The 69 is a good choice, but with the L-46 option????? That was the lowest rated engine! Again, an L-88 would have been much better. Now as for this '00 Z06, what the heck is that? It dosent exist! The Z06 started in 2001. Also, why isnt the new 2005 C6 model in the game? The mustang got its 2005 model. I know you can upgrade the engines etc, but in order to fit some of these engines in the hood had to change. I doubt that is an option. I'm not at all impressed with the poor representation of Americas greatest sports car line in GT4.

To bring a slightly dead thread back to life ( I missed it the first time around apparently )...

I question a lot of choices they made for the american cars they decided to include in the game, mostly based on model years...however, if you'll recall, KY wants to make the Gran Turismo games to be an automotive encyclopedia.

With this version, he's gotten the closest he's been in any version to date.

I think he chose some of these years because they were significant cars in their day. The 53 Vette was the fist Vette, period. The 64 GTO was the first GTO, period.

The 49 bug, well, that was the first year they came to the states ( and only sold 2 ), etc, etc, etc.

The 63 split window was the first significant step in a new body design for corvette, which is why we don't get the 67 from GT2.

We get the Superbird because it was the first car to hit 200mph in Nascar ( or it was the daytona, same difference )

If you wonder why they included a car, or why that particular year, try to think about the historical significance of it, not the lack of power options. Those you can make up in the Tuning garage ( ...I really can't wait to shark me a 1000hp Model T..hee hee )

I'm getting a real headache from people crying about the absence of the C6. We didn't get the C5 in GT2 and we lived, we'll live without the C6.

What people don't realize about those big-block muscle cars (probably because they've never driven them), is that they handle like pigs. All that weight in the nose gives them terrible weight balance. I can imagine that they went with the 350 because it made a better handling car.

Well I dont know Maven, Since you know Drag Racing is in (even though its only 1 cource which is BS) Alot of my friends like to Drag, So thats what we'll be doing a majority of the time, Oh wait we cant use custom cars now can we?

👍 PD on this masterpiece.

~Edit
Oh yeah btw we deserve our Muscle Cars just like you deserve your Skylines.

Handling or not.

Actually the C6 is meant to handle well, even according to Jerremy Clarkson.

Thats about the same as the NSX-R and 911 GT3.

I once read - if horse-racing is the sport of Kings, is drag racing the sport of queens.....? :)

Just kidding drag race fans!

I really wish there was some muscle cars in GT2 that made it into GT4 such as the GTX and the Mustang Saleen with a few Cobras, I wonder why the 03 Cobra didnt make it in? Anyway This isnt that type of thread.

It doesnt bother me that the C6 isnt in, I know it'll be in GT5 for sure though, Hopefully by then they can do a little more balancing.

I agree that the 2000 Z06 didn't exist, the first year of the C5 era was the 2001, I own a 2003 Z06 and can tell you that its not weak by any means, its the quickest Vette ever made until next years 2006 Z06. I agree that the GT series should represent America's cars better though. The C6 coupe should have been in the game for sure, especially since its going to be in Forza.

The C6 doesn't have a 350 nor is it a muscle car with a big block. Its a sports car that kicks butt compared to any sports car under $100,000. The Z06 is quicker than any car under $100,000 except the newest Viper's and even then it will run nose to nose with one on a road course. The 2006 Z06 is going to be quickest and best performing domestic car at any price barring an exotic like the Saleen S7.

Don't knock the Corvette, it will take care of business against car except those that cost 3-5 times more than it.

Well plain and simple, they should of gotten better American cars and focused on us too and not just them. Maybe for the American version they might add more, kinda doubt that but hey you never know, plus if they don't I mean why not, Me personally, I could have done with a little less EVO's and Skylines, Instead of all those skylines why not add a few more cars from Nissan such as the Maxima or the Altima, more American cars, heck I wouldnt mind driving around a Neon. I mean come on they should of gotten each part of the world there good share in the game.

One beef I have is that the C5 Z06 only has 385 hp (since it's a 2000 model), and not 405 hp of that 2001+ Z06. I don't know why PD didn't put in a 2001+ Z06 with the 405 hp LS6, they must not pay much attention to American cars...

Nope! they don't!

I just wanted to clear up something I have seen posted before but people don't seem to pay attention to: a 2001 model year Z06 would be listed in the Japan version of the game as a 2000 Z06 because cars in japan are registered by the year they were first licensed in Japan, not what model year they are.

That has nothing to do with what I'm trying to say, the fact of the matter is PD only modelled the first iteration of the Z06 from 2000, which had 385 hp, and not the 2001+ model which had an upgraded 405 hp LS6 engine.

The first Z06 was more significant though, it did great things for the C5s image. THe second iteration was just a refinement of the initial idea.

I agree. I think the American (and even some Japanese cars) were lacking. Most of all, was the Austrialian cars. There was what? 1 Falcon race car, 2 FPVs and 2 Holdens? Hell, I want to race some classic Austrialian cars (namely the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT coupe, but that's probably just becasue I like Mad Max....).

In fact I want to race more classic cars in general, mostly from the '60s and '70s though.

As for teh Japanese cars, the Skyline R34 GTS was overdone. Let's count the GTRs at the Nissan dealer alone...GTR, GTR VSpec, GTR VSpec II, GTR MSpec, GTR VSpec N1, GTR VSpec II Nur. GTR MSpec Nur, GTR VSpec SCMPIII(Special Color Midnight purple III). Hell, just do something like the GTR Vpec II Nur, the GTR Vpec N1, and maybe the GTR MSpec and leave it at that.
If they were gonna put more in, I want to see variations like the 25Gt-t or 4 door sedan.(all R34)

GT4 is good, and trackwise excellent, but I felt the lack of variation in a few places that were a little beter filled in with GT2. I want that '71 Roadrunner GTX (called muscle car in GT2, had a "dotted" stripe down the side behind the doors, and funky looking grille) back.
Also, I want classic Mustang representation! Not Shelby, but actual Fords, like a Mach 1. I got my hopes up when the list said Boss 429 Mustang, however, no such car ended up in the game.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but Maven, have you driven any big block muscle cars? My father and I collect Corvettes and other older cars and I have to say, unless you are a bad driver, they handle quite well. My dad has a '64 chevelle, a '70 chevelle, a 69 corvette (350) and 2 '69 camaros. I have driven them all and they are quite nice to drive. I have a '69 Corvette with a 427 and it actually handles better than his with the 350 in it. Keep in mind it's not as nice to drive as my Z06, but considering it's weight and weight distribution, it's quite pleasant. (besides the deafening noise  ) Back to Corvettes in Gran Turismo, yeah it sucks that they are picking the lower end vettes, but thats what modification is for :) I do hope to see a C6 in GT4 though, but I doubt I will...

Anyone want to remind me what the light weight package of the L-88 was called? I remember that they only sold one, but that deserves to be in.

The absence of the C6 is disapointing, but I think that may have been just as much GM's fault as PD's. As for the corvetts that are in the game, PD may know more than you think. The first Z06 as well as the first ZR-1 both had 385 hp and where more significant than there later 405 hp variants, as they where the first. However in GT3, if you equiped a sport exhaust (which also equips a high performance air filter) to the Z06, guess what amount of HP you got? 405. Ironicaly, thats exactly what they did to the real corvett. The use of different materials in the main catalysts, eliminated the need for the pair of secondairy cats seen in the 385 hp version. That along with a lower resistance air filter, boosted power up to 405. A coincedince? I doubt it. and I hope they do that for GT4's Z06 and something similar for the 385 hp ZR-1.

the 2001 and 2002 LS6's were different engines
the latter featured lighter internal parts and the absence of an MAF screen
the 2002 Z06 was also lighter becasue of the titanium mufflers.

Could you be any more jealous? You would be a fan too if this was your car......and yes, its mine.

The 2001 Z06 had a titanium cat-back exhaust also. The additional power in 2002 came from the removal of the MAF screen, larger cam, better flowing cats, and a more free flowing airbox, all the other engine improvements were for better reliability.

what do you expect, its made by the japanese :banghead: Of course there will be tiny mistakes made, 700 plus cars and 100% of the stats correct??? nope I dont think so, just toooo much info. Dont get too butt hurt over it, its a one year difference small potatoes to me and they didnt release the c6 in time for production of gt4. I wish gt had the new c6-R le mans racer thats coming out, but hey c5-r works for me, geeze just enjoy the game, some sorry folks like me havent tasted gt blood yet, just be happy you played it..........................................

I am in no way jealous of that car. :yuck:

 I don't think I've been on a board that had this many skeptics...sheesh!

I can say that the attatched picture is my car too, but it wouldn't be true.

Only because I don't own it anymore :sly:

Seriously though...to get back on topic, the vettes in this game represent the changes the vette has gone through. Why the C6 isn't in the game is that much of a problem for me, mostly because even though I'd love to own a vette someday ( 67 ), it's not that important that it's in. I can make up my own purportedly valid reason as to why it isn't in the game this year. Big whoop.

As far as the Muscle car comment goes, the attatched car really couldn't be considerd a muscle car ( it's a 1965 FuryIII if you don't know ), but it had a 383 cu.in 4bbl motor and was a ton of fun to drive. Not going to win any races with it, nor is it going to pull a "G" on the skidpad. I'd still love to see it in the game though. Muscle cars had a purpose, and I dare say a place in automotive history. Which is why they belong in the game, as much as the Citroen 2CV does :scared:
