I wish I could enjoy all the cars and trucks of GT, but I just can't. The medivac van? The Jimny? Sambabus? There are several more. It actually angers me that GT requires the use of such cars for certain races. Just give me my damn Elise back and allow me to use it in every race, lowering the PP to under 50 less than any competition and I'll still win every race and have a great handling car too! So much grrr.
That's often a discussion within the GT community. I've not been a GT user from the start, but from what I've read GT has always been not only about race cars but also about several "special", or sometimes even "weird", car choices. So those trucks, pick-ups etc. are nothing new at all.

Personally I like those special cars, especially when tuned to their limits or engine swapped. It's a very playful feature, and maybe one reason some call GT rather simcade than pure simulation.

I don't think anyone enjoys EVERY vehicle in GT. The oddball vehicles that have been added since launch(such as the MediAce, Unimog, etc.) are and have proved to be more enjoyable by the majority of players. They got people talking about a now 3+ year old game. I'm glad that I am required to use certain vehicles for races. It adds variety, and who knows, maybe even find a hidden gem that you love.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that we all wish for Lotus as a whole to come back, but it hasnt happened yet, for reasons only known to Polyphony. If you want a game that lets you use the same car for every race, try Forza Horizon, you can do beat it in a single car. That has never been the focus of GT.

And the same Ferrari challenge from last week
The Ferrari Challenge wasn't in last week's Weekly Challenges (May Week 3); it was American FR, Nissan GT-R, Kei Cup, WTC800 and the Corvette one-make.

After an update, any new races added will appear in the WC between the update and the next one. We had Lightweight Kei Cup (Eiger) added and that came in May Week 3. Ferrari Circuit Challenge (Deep Forest) will be in May Week 4, and the last one will be American Clubman Cup 700 at some point before the next update - probably the end of June.

I prefer 6* car tickets, 800.000 plus races around 1 mill.

I hope one day the reward with the invites

Just an hour with our swap Jag in Lemans 1,6 mill

Last 3x6* tickets ( 2 from weeklies and one from marathon) reward me with gt3 cars with the lowest selling price of them being 139K .
Invites can't be as reward for weeklies ,is way unfair and they aren't such a rewards anyway ( i mean only invitation tickets).

Hopefully i quit grinding long time ago , i collect credits from weekly races ,TT's ( mostly silver ones ) and by repeating some weekly races if i like them.
The era of 3 Lemans per day passed for good and i only do it if a car move my interest .
And some times i do only the first 3 laps to check a cars behaviour and fuel consumption at the dry.

Correct!!! I got it wrong, I’m mixing the update and the weekly challenges because i did everything on Friday.

I've been with GT from the very beginning, and I've hated all of those vehicles from the start. We had to use base cars with no power, cars you could run faster than, over and over and over to get enough money to buy a decent car because wasting the money on the base car never got you what you wanted. Pure hate.

Proved to be more enjoyable for the majority of players? You'd have to show me the statistics on that before I'd believe it. I consider it heavy handed by PD, just like all the other things they force on us (and the list is LONG). In short, it's their game, so they force us to play it their way. Forza physics are a joke IMO, no way I'd lower myself to that game, but it's pretty to look at for sure, and some of the features are fantastic.

You pick a strange franchise to stick around then. Masochism?

Here's some hope I made an interesting and enjoyable car selection for the upcoming races. Will use ...

Daytona : swapped Ford Roadster ( 599 PP )
Eiger : Renault KATZ Kangoo ( 380 PP )
Goodwood : swapped Citroen Pallas ( 579 PP )
Deep Forest : Ferrari Dino ( 665 PP )
Autopolis : swapped Lexus LC500 ( 690 PP )

The Pallas and the LC500 will be quasi first time drives, looking forward to it.

Edited for PP correction

Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Kangoo Attitude

Another new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is arriving on consoles around the world, ticking over as midnight comes on Friday morning in your local time zone, bringing a fresh suite of five races to for you to take on over the next seven days — and a debut for some of update 1.59’s new content...

If last week's Lightweight K Cup is anything to go by, I'm just gonna send it.

using the Fairlady z34 ' 08 with engine swap for the Autopolis race, 512 BB '76 for the Ferrari race, 205 GTI '88 for the car masters, and the ford GT '17 for the American race

Decent week, but not the most exciting combos. Daytona just requires a car that'll do 49 second laps or faster, as long as you can do over 300 km/h you'll win pretty easily. Kangoo one make was the same as the others, can't use a stock car and I only have a full tuned one so it was very easy, fun to drive though. Goodwood is fun if you try to use a historic car, either road or race, AI struggles with a few corners so you can probably pick something not that fast. Ferrari Challenge I used the 812 and switched to SH, made it a decent challenge and required a bit more effort to drive, AI can be annoying in the other 812 because it's quick out the corners but has no idea how to go through them. WTC 700 I ended up doing a few times as the AI seemed very inconsistent and I wanted to see if I could get it to rain. With my Golf I managed to win in a race that got really wet on the last lap so everyone was still on slicks, thankfully the AI struggled even more so I just pulled further away. I ended up running the low RPM turbo so you have max power at 5500 RPM, can easily run map 1 and pit at half distance. Tried a few more times and a few other cars where I didn't get rain and the AI could be over 30 seconds quicker or slower seemingly at random. Maybe if you're struggling and don't want to change car just restart a few times and see.

Cars for the week:

The AI uses Gr.4 cars, and while you don’t have to adhere to this (especially with the recent nerf), …
I believe that the nerf only applies to the BoP and that the regular races don't use it. Therefore Gr. 4 cars in regular races should behave as usual.

What an enjoyable selection we got this week! All completed on Hard difficulty with 1st places in all races.

American Sunday Cup 600: Ford GT40 ‘66, stock, except for SH tyres, and a custom manual gearbox. Having done quite a few custom oval races with American muscle cars, I tried first with the Mustang Mach One, but this proved a little too aerodynamically inefficient to catch first place. Switched to much more slippery GT40 Mk1 and won with relative ease.
Renault Kangoo - One Make: Lightly modded Kangoo, on SS Tyres. Great fun round the hairpins, but an easy win.
Historic Sports Car Masters: Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R ‘73, SS tires, mid-turbo few other racing bits. I love this race! There’s some great racing in online lobbies replicating this event.
Took me one practice run to get my eye in, but was able to catch and beat the much more powerful Miura on the last lap.
Ferrari Circuit Challenge: Ferrari 430 Scuderia (challenge series spec), RM tyres. At last, a chance to use my challenge spec 430!
This thing carved through the pack like a scalpel, and could probably have defeated the La Ferrari if it was in this race! Easy win.
World Touring Car 700: Radical SR3 with V8 engine swap, RM tyres, racing brakes and suspension. This sounds so much better with the V8. Setup was quite basic, so still had a bit too much understeer for my taste, but I’m sure I can dial this out with further testing.
One stop on lap 5 for fuel and fresh tires, an enjoyable if fairly uneventful win.

My favourite weeks of challenges so far. Keep up the good work PD!

Oh boy. Ok set of races for this one. First two was forgettable for me, but the other 3 was pretty fun. As usual, I used some classics for all of them, except for the Kangoo.

Daytona Tri-Oval_.jpeg

Went for the Chevelle for this one, tuned to be around 600pp. With a good suspension tune, it actually handles really well around the oval. Fun car to drive, but 3 laps for Daytona is too few to make it worthwhile.

Eiger Nordwand_.jpeg

Another Kangoo race. It only has the Sport parts on it. I tried to tune it as if its what a factory sporty Kangoo would be like. Meh. Not a fan.

Goodwood Motor Circuit_.jpeg

Now this is fun. The GT40 handles great to begin with, and actually competes decently with the competition here. I loved it, I would have enjoyed it even if there was more laps. Highly recommend this.

Deep Forest Raceway_.jpeg

The 308 GTB in full tune is a riot to drive. Unfortunately the suspension was too low on mine, if I take the wrong line at the last corner into the straight, it would bottom out and drive straight into the wall. Happened to me twice. Either way, I still won the race. Should try it with a different Ferrari. Maybe the 250 GT or Dino.

Autopolis International Racing Course_.jpeg

Oh man, this was so so so fun. I loved this. First try, I tried the RS tires but it only lasts 3 laps, and the suspension was making it understeer into the grass a lot. So I quit at lap 5, switch to RH tires and fix the suspension and wow! It floats through the corners like its on water, and by the end I was leading by a minute. A fully tuned D-Type is likely in my top 3 favourite handling cars. I was lucky it didn't rain. At FM6 the whole time, I was doing 2.00 laps and did not pit at all. You guys should definitely try this.

Tried them all, but failed on the final race (hard difficulty)...

weekly-challenge-202505w4-r1.jpg

Daytona - Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat '15 - No modifications to the car. Pedal to the metal for an easy win. First ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202505w4-r2.jpg

Eiger Nordwand - Renault Kangoo 1.4 '01 - Tires upgraded to SS. Pretty easy win for the second box checked.

weekly-challenge-202505w4-r3.jpg

Goodwood - BMW M3 Sport Evolution '89 - Upgraded the tires to SS. Managed to get by the Countach on the final lap. Thought it might catch me again on the final straight, but I had a big enough gap to take the win. Second ticket obtained.

weekly-challenge-202505w4-r4.jpg

Deep Forest - Ferrari F8 Tributo '19 - Upgraded the tires to SS, which took the PP just over the limit, so I added a power limiter to dial it back under. Easy win. Fourth box checked.

Autopolis - Audi TT Cup '16 - Tried a 5RM-5RM strategy. No major blunders. I just couldn't make any real gains on the leaders in this car. There was no rain. Maybe I need to get lucky with the weather to have a shot with the Audi, because it was struggling just to keep up.

21-2025.png

Race 1 - I chose to use the Ford GT '06 for the first race, normally, I would use the Viper GTS '02 or something, but I rarely drive this car. It's really good in a straight line, which was lucky, because this race is basically only straight lines.
Race 2 - Of course, I had to use the Kangoo, so I used my faux Kangoo Turbo, I'm not a fan of tight cornering in this car, it feels way too grippy and way too loose at the same time.
Race 3 - I originally planned to use the countach 25th to do race 3, but to put it lightly, the car is one of the worst I have ever driven, constantly understeering off track, or spinning out. I chose to use the Fairlady Z 432 '69, It felt pretty loose, and it didn't have the speed to get pole, so I settled for third.
Race 4 - I chose to use the F430, as it's my favorite Ferrari of all time (as my PFP implies).
Race 5 - I originally had planned to use the GT86 GT4, but after struggling to get 12th, I decided to just cheese it with the X2010 Junior. I was lucky to avoid the green rain, as I had switched to intermediate tyres, but it wouldn't matter if it had, as I could just pop in for some replacement wet tyres.

For the 5 star ticket, I got 100,000 credits. I chose to buy the Mclaren VGT, along with the Subaru WRX STI Isle Of Man time attack.

I believe that the nerf only applies to the BoP and that the regular races don't use it. Therefore Gr. 4 cars in regular races should behave as usual.
That's correct, and more to the point if BOP were active you couldn't enter anything except Gr.4 cars - but that wasn't really the point of that.
