Another new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is arriving on consoles around the world, ticking over as midnight comes on Friday morning in your local time zone, bringing a fresh suite of five races to for you to take on over the next seven days — and a debut for some of update 1.59’s new content.
Weekly Challenges consist of five events for players to attempt in the week-long period that begins on Friday morning each week. Of these, four are drawn from the existing races in the World Circuits menu, while a fifth “Special Event” is created just for that week. You’ll need to place third or better to complete any of the races, and there’s bonus rewards that increase in value as you complete more of them.
We’re beginning with one of the simplest races in all of GT7, by way of the American Sunday Cup 600 event at Daytona Tri-Oval. It’s just three laps for any American road car — your top opponents run at around 600PP, per the name, but you don’t need to — and you don’t even need to brake for it. Winning, and the 15,000cr for doing so, should be a formality.
Unusually our Special Event is the next-least lucrative, with 45,000cr on offer for taking the win. It’s the last of three Renault Kangoo one-make races, running over four laps of the Eiger Nordwand course. There’s no limitations other than the car itself, but we’d advise some power tuning as the AI are not as-stock and that uphill climb can be a killer.
The next event, the Historic Sports Car Masters at Goodwood Motor Circuit, will need unlocking if you haven’t already done so. It features some unusual limitations, as you’ll need a road car made between 1960 and 1989, and in any state of tune so long as it doesn’t exceed 580PP. The five-lap race is pretty brisk (and you may need to watch out for traffic on the final tour) and worth 55,000cr for the win.
A new race features next, with the Ferrari Circuit Challenge event at Deep Forest as added by update 1.59. As you may expect, you’ll need a Ferrari for this race but you can choose any car at all from the brand — road or race — with only a 700PP cap to keep in mind. Leading the way at the end of lap six will score you a cool 90,000cr.
Finally we have a World Touring Car event, as usual, which this week is the WTC700 race at Autopolis International. As the name hints, you can use any car within a 700PP limit but you must have Racing tires fitted — and beware that this ten-lap race can be rain-affected, so make sure that you have at least Intermediate tires for your car too. The AI uses Gr.4 cars, and while you don’t have to adhere to this (especially with the recent nerf), something with a racing engine is handy for the fuel economy benefits if you want the 130,000cr first-place prize.
This week’s bonus rewards are all in the form of credit tickets, which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section in order to get the cash. You’ll score a 100,000cr ticket for clearing any one event, a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three, and a 500,000cr ticket for cleaning the whole set.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday May 30.
