well, yes, most young young drivers cant drive well (street driving), but this isnt what i was talking about. drive on the street for a couple years, and you will become much better. but all the street driving in the world will not make you a track master.
i didnt mean to imply you are a young dumb kid. im 19. it doesnt matter how old you are, if you never drive on the track, you probably arent going to know everything there is to know about performance driving. (ie, weight transfer, how to control it to your advantage, and the confidence you get when you know exactly what the car is doing, and where the weight will be next.)
this is the point i was trying to make. let me illustrate.
I have an 88 m3. with approximately 210hp, stock suspension, race pads, and race tires, I set a lap 2 seconds quicker than my buddy brian. brian also has an e30 m3, but he has $15k into his motor, and eibach prokit suspension. soft suspension, but the negative camber the drop gives you is a big advantage. his motor is insane. torque from 2.5, 8.4k topend from head and schricks. the motor whails, estimated 275hp.
this past summer i went to every open trackday i could make it to. maybe i spent up to $1000. the tracktime was so valuable though. now i am so cocky, i get to come onto boards and shoot my mouth off. $1k developing my driving skills allows me to lap quicker than someone that has $15k into their motor. who spent their money better? my car could be gone tomorrow, but what allows me to set fast laps is in my head, not my wallet.
fyi, i smoke ferraris ******.
