Well this isn't right

I like the idea and I think it looks okay, but the GTR name gets on my nerves a little. I think it's an improvement over the stock Mustang styling (which I hate) and with that motor, it's definitely going to be fast.
Meh.
I understand that it's probably a spin-off of the 'GT' model, but with all the hype Skyline GTR's have gotten in the last few years, you'd think they'd come up with something original and distinctive for a model such as this.

What do you think the chances of Ford ACTUALLY making that much detail on the Mustang?
I might be one of the only people that actually like it in some senses, but I can understand where it might be ugly to people.

That car serves one purpose, to holomogate the Mustage for FIA GT racing, it's not about if you like the looks the only thing Ford care about is selling enough or them for THe GT-R to race.

You guys have no problem when a skyline or some other japanese company makes something looking like that. Its all functional there is no problem with it at all. What happened to the function over form guys?

I agree with you fenrir and I think that the car is a fairly good and creative show from american companies. The exhaust i am sure is for show as well as performance, but the placement is surely show. The CF hood is most likely not for show at all... You have a heavy engine in the front you need to lighten those front wheels if you want it to perform relatively well on the track. It will also most likey inprove balance. The spoiler looks a bit showy, but hey I dont blame ford for tyring to make as an aggressive looking car as possible. and the minimal DF that it provides will at least aid traction... somewhat...

Hahaha! Yes!

You can't really post a concept on GTP without everyone hating it. It's just an initial phase that all cars go through here.

I won't judge it's performance until I see some stats/reviews. But in the looks department, it looks great except for the exhaust pipes. THey look like a very poorly done 1 minute cut and paste job in photoshop. Those pipes alone nearly ruin the car lookwise for me.

I like it. I'd like it even more if it didn't have that 'Weapon R Type S Shogun GT' wing on it.

I'm alright with it other than the rear spoiler(upper and lower) and the stupid side exhaust. I like side exhausts but in these pictures they all look like they were fake and pasted onto the photo, even though they are real.

The spoiler reminds me of the ones that you see on hotwheels... oversized and sticking out of the rear bumper...

lose the wing, paint the car one color and voila I think it would be pretty cool as long as it has the balls to compensate for its looks. I think the wing should just be no more then an inch off the top of the trunk. . .

*uck, thats one GTR I would never want. Now when I refer to a GTR I'll alwyas get people saying "you mean that mustang?" Jeeze, they could have been more original with the naming, I mean cmon, I dont see any skyline cobras rolling around.... I hope this is one concept that never makes it to production.

I'd rather have this than a 90,000 dollar Skyline. It's better looking, at least.

GTR is an unoriginal name, just like GTR in a Skyline.

GT and R are merely letters. All car companies use them. Mustang has had a GT forever, and a Cobra R. So this is the GTR. I don't see the problem. Nobody thinks Pontiac when you say Lemans.

The car Snobbery around here is appalling. "It's a Ford so I hate it." Stupid.

It will make it to production because it's a cool car, plain and simple. The Mustang has always been a lot of bang for your buck and this GTR will probably be the latest incarnation of that.

But some people will continue to fantasize about a car they will never own.

*edit* I fantasize about cars I will probably never own, too. But I also accept what is within reach someday, and I would rather have this Mustang than some old-ass Toyota. I'd take it over a Skyline GTR any day.

No! skylineGTR_guy is going to get an R34 when he becomes a pharmacist!

I highly doubt Nissan was the first manufacturer to use the GTR name on anything. And if they were, then I apologize for being wrong.

I found some nice pictures of it.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Are they going to race with this?

Weird, didn't Ford just have there 35th Anniversery, last year? How come the Mustang say's 40th Anniversery?

I got the pictures from Autoweek .

Because Mustangs have been around since 1964 I believe. So does that mean this will be released as a 2004 model?!

Ford's been about 100 years now.

My mistake, I meant Mustang not Ford.

I don't think it will be released, if you click the Autoweek link I provided, it says Ford Mustang GT-R concept on the top. So it's not really a production car. Atleast, that's what it says.
