possibly. . . My old friend's father and mother drag cars down at a drag strip here. . . A 68 Camaro Z28 and a 69 Chevelle. . . Those cars you can hear over three blocks away. . . It is a shame their not street legal. . .

Damn right! :D The day I get my sign on bonus I'm going to go make a nice down payment :)

We will see how the 2007 model is, if not the R34 NUR should be cheaper by then too :)
I highly doubt Nissan was the first manufacturer to use the GTR name on anything. And if they were, then I apologize for being wrong.

No I'm sure it wasn't , but when I say/hear GTR the only thing that pops into my head is a skyline....but maybee thats just because I'm obsessed.

What have the people at Ford been smoking? The colour, CF bonnet and wing look like the were nicked off Fast and the Furious and the lights look horrible. Saying that with the cammer engine, stripped interior and (apparently) added downforce it has potential, they just need to loose the rice.

This Mustang is a race car. Race cars don't have anything superfluous.

And I don't understand why people are getting worked up about the spoiler. It looks fine to me.

It's just the way they've gone about it, you get the feeling that the parts don't actually work as well as they could. For instance from the picture it doesn't look like the wing is adjustable. For road use you are probably never going to actually need that much downforce whilst if you are on track being able to tweak the car strikes me as pretty handy.

Well me personally I don't care for it. I don't like the colour or the carbon fiber. I'm sure the wing is needed. But that colour is just :yuck:

Oh please. The color is ugly? Wtf is wrong with you people? If its gonna be a production car, chances are, it will be AT LEAST available in Black and Red. Red especially if it's a mustang. I dont like the way the exhaust looks, even if it is functional, but oh well. And why wouldnt they produce it? They produced the Cobra R, and it had a lot of what this car has. Very racey, side exhaust, massive spoiler, little functionality inside. Sounds like my cup of tea.

I just dislike yellow coloured cars, not matter what its on. I'm sure I'd like it a whole lot better in red, black or even white.

My good god! What did they do to that poor car?! it looked so hot when it was just normal! Now they've just gone and screwed it up! For God's Sake! That is not right!!!

When I first saw that, it looked like a mediocre photochop of the ford Mustang GT concept (for 2005), but now that I see all the other pics, I am so dissappointed in Ford Motor Company...

I agree completely. And for the color, it is very retro:

lose the wing, paint the car one color and voila I think it would be pretty cool as long as it has the balls to compensate for its looks. I think the wing should just be no more then an inch off the top of the trunk. . .

The 'GTR' name is just a trim model and no one patented the name. Skyline is usually implied due to its outstanding performance and most importantly the only model that has been mass produced, thus the popularity. Others are just too expensive for an average Joe to afford due to their performance being far surpassing the Skyline's racing trim. This includes:

Mercedes Benz - CLK-GTR;
BMW - M1 and M3 GTR;
McLaren - F1 GTR;
Porsche - 911 GTR, 993 JPS GTR, etc.;
Renault - 19 GTR

Based on the dictionary.com source, GTR most likely stands for Grand Touring Rally. Does this imply that the Mustang GTR uses the Police Crown Vic's suspension geometry?
