what about free cruising?

i read somethin about ppl creating a room and cruising along , sometimes racing , somestimes juts passing trough . what you thinks about that?
it regular cars , no racing cars .

yes, i alway do that. Sometimes free ride for training with my friends, and sometimes a race.

Yes this is done in a Lounge, actually I was mostly in MyLounge.

1) Free run, is a practice, just to wait for the others.
2) When someone starts a race, everyone in the free run goes into the race.
3) When you start to chat while in Free Run the AI will take over an have your car go slowly through the track. The AI did 20 min Nurburgring laps for me, while I was eating, without crashing by the way.

i do that too, just a free casual cruise with a bunch of friends while enjoying the scenery, it's awesome.

My first online session, although short, was spent doing just that last night. I forget the names but one of the guys in the GT chat room stood up a public Tokyo 246 room and some of us joined in and just cruised. Some drifted, some were just doing donuts (nice smoke effects) and some of us cruised and occassionally raced with nearby cars. Pretty relaxing.

Like Vince said, the game can auto-pilot pretty good (very slowly) while you chat. If you press the pause button the auto-pilot takes over so you can free your hands.

Something fun about trying to drive "in formation" behind a slower car. Did that last night on Leguna Seca with two guys. Good drivers, but I had extra 20% HP over them.. So I just stuck as closely to them as possible without bumping... had a great time.
