Love the production on this album!

Talking of winsome pop, I bought Tracey Thorn's LP A Distant Shore in 1982, but "Plain Sailing" was the only track which stood out for me at the time.

I still have that album. I bought in a record shop in Banbury, sometime between 1982 and 1984.

The BBC's evening DJ Dave Jensen could be very persuasive.

It's not Hallowe'en but for some reason I wanted to hear Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers' "Monster Mash" again. Here's his performance from American Bandstand on October 13th, 1964.

Some Andy Stott on Wax. 1st press black. Delicious deed & brooding almost Triphop like bit unmistakably Techno.

Singer, actress and err something else we're not allowed to mention.

It's Friday, and the soundtrack has been released 👍👍

Not only that, they've put together the best ever playlist!!!

[EDIT] "Olympic Airways" on the Forza Horizon 6 soundtrack piqued my interest in finding out what the fuss about this band was about but I wasn't sure whether I liked them or not. However, I'm halfway through the second album and like their formula so far. They seem to know what they're doing and, from what I've heard so far, their albums work as a coherent whole rather than a disparate collection of tracks. That said, I'm glad that Total Life Forever is more varied than Antidotes.

The third and fourth albums were heavier in sound but that's the only way they really departed from the formula. I don't really mind that the songs all seem to sound similar but it is kind of strange. I think I'm done with this band now.

RIP saxophone colossus Sonny Rollins, 95.

Newk (wearing sunglasses on the right of the fourth row from front) was the final jazz great to pass into legend of the fifty-seven musicians captured in the iconic photograph A Great Day In Harlem.
