Normally I recoil in fear at the news of a new Weezer album, but the band's been posting teasers on YouTube of their forthcoming record and - and I'm going to be real careful saying this - it sounds more like Pinkerton & Blue than anything out of the past ten years. So I'll be keeping my fingers crossed and playing these clips over and over again until September 30 rolls by...
The crescendo at the end of the second song is straight up "Only In Dreams"
"Back to the Shack" will be the first single. Certainly far from perfect, and the lyrics are very obvious and self-aware, but whereas this would have been the highlight of Raditude, for example, it seems like this could very well be one of the low points of the new record - which would be absolutely fine by me. It's definitely growing on me and should at least be fun live.
