well, i had that problem with gt3.........and guess what, Needed a new PS2. DVD-player went to heaven.....................but still GT3 had some probs with my 2nd PS2

A really friggin' LOUD highpitched very very annoying mechanical whining kinda sound...

Yeah, like the sound that's made when you push a remote control car along a surface when it's turned off.

Like... WEER WEEEER WEER.

The sound of working against the gears and the electric motor.

It doesn't bother me cuz I wear headphones that cover my ears, but it's so loud that it wakes my grandparents up at night cuz they sleep in the room adjacent to mine. Which means, I can only use it between the time I wake up and the time they go to bed (4:00pm - 9:00pm). Minus the 45 minutes the dinner routine takes.

Stupid eating. Taking up my driving time like that..
