kid the RSi is AWD

not FF

and theres nothn wrong with the beetle cup car.

the RSi is a 50g BEETLE for gods sake and its AWD...which as we all know cant compete in the FF competition

the Cup car is FREE and will own the RSi most of the time if tuned right simply because the RSi understeers like no bodys business.

go for the xsara. if you get the spoon civic it will pit near the end where you can over take it, and if you get the beetle cup as well it hang back about 5 - 10 sec behind you till at the end when at the end (becuase your tyres are so worn) it will catch up on the last lap wher all you have to do is hold if off.... which is not easy. :)

heres my race from the writeups of ff pro race 1....

Race 1 -
Deep Forest Raceway 2
10 laps (36.008 km)

Like I say, "Nothing like a quick race before work to get me thru the day"

An early morning start it was at the Depp Forrest raceway, so after a quick shower I dressed in my race clothes and headed down to the track. I was not looking forward to this twisting undulating monster of a course as it is my least favourite.

So in a cold sweat I hoped in my stock Citroen Xara and headed down the to marshalling area..... TOO LATE!!!

Aaarrghh!! Slept in again. I missed qualifying.

Steaming with anger at my own stupidity I rolled up to the last place on the grid. Just wanting the race over and done with I didn't pay attention to my opponents thinking it would be an easy race anyhow.

GREEN LIGHTS! An we are off!
I over took most of the opponents by the first high speed corner noting who of consequence I passed, bland non descript.... Another one..... Beetle cup car! (hmm...keep that in mind).... Celica of some kind.... And into 2nd place. Who was this car that zipped well away for me and the rest of the pack?

3 laps down and I catch up to the said car, it's a spoon civic (wtf is a spoon civic?) And I sit on its tail for a few more laps deciding to overtake it on the 6th lap 1st corner.
I realise now I just have to hole it off but by the 7th lap my front tires are showing considerable wear at the dark orange stage and the civic hasn't pitted. Meanwhile the beetle has been slowly creeping up and I just 7 seconds behind me.

9th lap, under the bridge and I am too fast, sliding the Xara into the embankment the civic overtakes and I struggle to regain composure and chase him down. I catch his tail on the final corner and go to chase him down the straight.... And he pits, WTF!!!, he could have one!!
I guess his tyres were worn to...

I decide not to pit too and continue even tho one of my front tyres is showing red. Racing this last last is slow as I have little front traction now..... Its half way through this lap the beetle, which has been just a few seconds back, make his move. Half a lap to go and he over takes and I am driving like a mad man to catch/keep up.

Down the last hill to the last corner where I am right on his tail, slipstreaming him, but just about out of control, I make my move and plant my foot. This is the slowest ever overtake I have done... Time seems to slow as I attempt to slide past my opponent and finally pass him just before reaching the finish line for a very narrow win.

Now for Rome.... sigh!

i used decked out Lupo Race car, its actually pretty quick,
the last cote'de'azur race was a pain in the ass. :-)

it would eat through tires too quickly :(

but its light and its pretty quick, if you put the biggest turbo on it :-)

Well I finally got somewhere with this project. I bought an Integra Type R, and put everything on it, messed around for an hour with setting the suspension and whatnot, and won the first 2 races. I was in second the whole way through, until the lead car would pit on the last lap then I had it.

That damn Cote d Azur track pisses me off though, I raced it 4 times today, 2nd all the way through, but the lead car never would pit....What gives?

I bet the car that pitted on the last was the spoon civic :)

with cote just set ur car up for acceleration, not fast speeds :)

Cote - set it up so that it does not slide round when u accel+turn
or else u'll find urself loosin alot of time by banging around the walls
and...
who said a lil *bump* is illegal... eh?
hehe

I used the CTR with 447 HP, it's fun to pass an NSX with a Civic.....and mine was Black like my old car....poor stolen Civic.

Which one of you stole my Civic? J/K I just hate this rotten stinky oil burning Golf I drive now cuz that's all I could afford.

Great job on the first 2, jay! Hang in there for that last one, as it's always a doozy.

Here's a tip from RoadHazzard's book of time-saving techniques (if you don't mind driving "unrealistically")...

You can gain anywhere from .5 to a full second wall-riding the looping left turn at the top of the first hill (replay analyzer section 4). Wall-riding in a FWD is made easier, as the front tires, when turned, help pull the car away. 4WD and RWD cars, while still benefitting from most wall-rides, will tend to behave "boggier", as the rear tires push the front of the car into the wall.

I found that this particular turn shouldn't be wall-ridden for it's whole length. For the times I elected to do so, I'd usually start braking in the middle of the turn (when the yellow/red Perelli sign came into view). Depending on the power of your car, you might not have to brake.. This would set up the right trajectory and speed to start the descent down the hill. Again, depending on your car's power, you might also elect to wall ride zig-zag section following Checkpoint 1 (replay analyzer sections 8-10)

But if you want to race this one realistically, it's just going to take a lot of practice. Believe it or not, the Pro/FF can be won with a freaking 280 hp VITZ!!! Not believing so cost me a lot of time and thumbpain...

I found myself being constantly reminded of the 3 tasks of tires while driving the FFs: acceleration, deceleration, and turning. The importance of the relationship of the 3 is really magnified for these cars, as FF vehicles use the same 2 tires (mostly) to manage all 3 tasks.

So, while turning, I'd try to pump the gas, or ease the thumb pressure to allow the tires to regain traction if I felt it started to understeer, and I'd floor it when I broke too hard/early or let speed drop down too low. These cars always seemed like they were in some drunken stupor, mostly due to their seeming lack of responsiveness. So to make up for it, I had to do a lot of early braking and pu$$y-footing until I could get the turns better...

Anyway, keep at it and let us know how it goes. We're all rootin for ya here!

Have a great drive!

FINALLY................

I used my TRD Celica, and won it the first time i tried with that car. I won by like 12 seconds too.

Now onto more difficult things, like the Spyder and Roadster races.....You'll probably see another thread on that from me soon.

My little advice for FF car driving... set the brakes like 24 front and not so strong rear , and don't touch the brake while cornering , just lose the speed (not to much thought) and then take all corners grip style... don't try to slide or such , with FF cars it always makes you way slower...

tip from novice * i think *
never run a turn the way you would when ur driving AWD, MR, or FR
because they FF cars slide
and like para22 said, set ur brakes 2 the front, because thats where ur main source of power is coming from
;)
