What did you do in GT7 today?

Bought 7 cars, tested 4, disappointed in all 4. The DB11 is nice, but really not good on fuel. The M4 is crap (except for the brakes), I'll take the '07 M3 any day over it, at least I'll enjoy driving it. TT Cup is also garbage, simply because of its brakes. The Black Series might be OK, but lacking tunes, it's hard to say. Who knows, maybe I just had them at the wrong PP level (700) or on the wrong track (Sarthe), but none of them FELT good to me.

I did re-tune the '67 Mark IV to Myk's specs, much improved experience.

My standby '84 GTO got rained out of all 3 races sadly. The rubber banding weather is even worse than the AI. I got one good lap in each race, never even a sniff at a second quality lap, course was absolutely saturated from lap 3 through the 7th lap. Such a pity, I'm sure I could turn sub-4:10's if I didn't get hosed (literally) by the weather.

I bought the Gr.3 RSR, RCZ and BRZ. I tuned the first 2, but have 3 separate tunes I'd like to try on the BRZ. I'll race them tomorrow and hopefully enjoy myself a bit more.

Finally tuned my Mazda Roadster with some fresh knowledge on tuning since 1 month ago and tried the Human Comedy Tsukuba Circuit. Only did 20 minutes of it because I completely messed up entering the pit lane for the first pit, where I was just going for fuel, but I was making 1:00 on the 3-5 fuel mix. Did not test the 1-2 fuel but surely I can get below the 1:00, which is enough to win this I think.

Will test it during the week, but I am pretty sure I can gold it.

I though about launching the game today. I had it selected, clicked check for update, nothing yet, then launched GT Sport again :/
Maybe you should give the Game a Second Chance my Man.
It’s really not that bad.
I mean I have no idea what your main Focus is, but I massively enjoy the Game again.
Me too almost gave up on it a 2Weeks ago, when I suddenly out of curiosity started to experiment and play around with some Sliders in Custom Race Mode, which finally brought back my Motivation.
I mainly play GT7 for its Single Player Part and I know you also enjoy (ed) it but got bored of it.
Anyway I hope you find your Mojo again and give GT7 a new Chance.
It’s honestly not that bad, actually it’s really really good 😊

On the GTP account, I did the Sarthe grind with the Focus Gr.B for the privilege to be insulted with a low-cash/lowest-possible-cash 4-star/10,000 Cr. from the Wheel of Despair.

On the Plus account, I decided to get the IA license in gold trim, in the process picking up the 2017 Alpine A110 and Toyota 86 Gr.B Rally Car (they really should be reversed in the bronze/gold rewards). The insulting 1-star Wheel of Despair gave me the lowest-possible cash prize of 2,000 Cr. on an all-cash wheel.

Yeah I need to get into the custom races again. Just need some more time to let the annoyances fade (settings resetting all the time, weather moving at supersonic speed for anything less than a 4 hour race, terrible cheating AI). It's mostly the AI that's keeping me away and not being able to save a long endurance race to continue later.

Thing is, race C is quite fun in GT Sport this month (ugh), hence the ease of doing a couple Sardegna races instead of going through the trouble of setting up an endurance race with custom garage cars with the very real risk something goes wrong and have to start from scratch again. Then get annoyed by the AI cheating in wet driving conditions.

Yep, it can be really really good, but I wish PD would add some QoL features to custom races. For now GT Sport is perfectly capable of scratching that competitive racing itch and Forza 7 is keeping me entertained with its single player campaign. GT7 can mature a bit first.

  1. Did three of the Gone with the Wind missions tonight.
    1. 30 Mins High Speed Ring in the Citroen. I lucked out so much and had a 2 second sprinkle of rain the entire race. Managed to two stop with some fuel saving (map 6 LOL) for the W.
    2. Proceeded to the Ferrari one lap magic and beat that after three attempts.
    3. Finally, did the F1500-T pass in the wet at Spa. Holy moly what a pain in the butt that was. I think I did it 15 times before I actually managed to get the gold. All that is left for this group of missions is the viper drift (yay :banghead:).
  2. Hopped on over to the Human Comedy and did the Deep Forest one in the Alpine A220 Race car and won with an easy one stopper. If I did some more fuel saving I probably could have done it without pitting but would've been pretty slow.
  3. Started prepping for the Trial Mountain Human Comedy by buying the BAC Mono and applying the @praiano63 tune to it.

So tonight I made a friend for my GT4 Camaro to play with, rocking almost the same clothes, and I freakin' love how it turned out!!

GT4 Mustang and GT4R Camaro, best frenemies ever!!

Now I'm of to sleep, but tomorrow these two will get down and dirty for real!

Needed some cash, decided that the nurburgring nordschleife would be a good way to earn cash today. Needed 225 km for it but got the gold. Was a nice challenge! Much easier then those annoying Tokyo ones (im on a controller) gonna try le mans next. Also tuned up the Diablo for 700pp races. Thing is thirsty and brakes are not very good but i like to drive it! Tried the online spa race 3 times without qualifying. Started 15th all three times, finished 8th, 8th and 4th at B licence. Slowly going upwards to A. maybe doing a qualy run later in the week for a better starting position.
Anyone got a tip on how to extract photos from ps5 to post on this forum?

I stared to do the Sardenga or whatever it is called with Mazada RX VGT and I after half a lap I realized that I suck at this race so I decided to do the CE for this track. Got all bronze and it gave me mileage so I got my daily ticket and got nothing. I bought a couple of Copens so I can kind of finish out my Ke car field for custom races. I have three Cappucinos and three Copens. I need to get 4 more Beats and 4 more S600s or whatever it is called to be able to do my custom race with Kei cars. Once I get them all I need to figure out settings to make it competitive

There’s probably an easier way, but I just tweet them and save the pics from there.

If they're race photos, after you "take" the photo, click on the "Share". it will then upload to your GT7 user site. Try this: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gt7/user

My Page, Gallery, click the pic you want, right click open in new window, copy the URL, paste into the forum picture icon.

Only had about half an hour today, so took the Mazda Lm55 VGT gr1 for a spin at Sardegna. FM6 till fuel stop on lap 10, then FM1. Can't for the life of me get under 1:39**. There's always something, a missed apex, brake slightly too late, AI in the way. I know there's still time in these laps. Need to focus..
1 Star ticket of dispondency revealed... Wait for it...... 3 cars and 2 piles of credits. I got.... .... The lowest amount of credits.......... 30,000 😱....... Gobsmacked?..... Too right... On a 1 star.
I've had worse 4 star tickets... Go figure..
Who knows how they're worked out..
Well.... Ttfn

My week of immersion in Ford automobiles got off to a slow start. I had to work late so game time was reduced. I ran the Le Mans 700pp race and won rather easily with my Gr4 Mustang. I didn't get to the Boss 429 but did start to detune a Ford Gt for the Tokyo 12 lapper.

Tonight I want to improve the Boss Mustang and then complete the set-up on the GT, hopefully I can get the Tokyo race completed.

I'm thinking of starting a thread ( I'll double check to make sure it hasn't already been suggested ) regarding race suggestions that people can use in custom races or if we are lucky, PD would add as single player races. I may work on that tonight.

Have had something of a mental block about Tokyo Expressway 12 lapper. I refused to do the tomahawk cheese, wanted to win it properly but every car I tried was either too slow or too understeery. It's the only race other than Gr1 Suzuka I haven't yet won. Best result so far was 5th.

Decided to try it again today using the Alpine A220 (probably my favourite car in GT7) and it almost worked. Was off the pace but very frugal on fuel and tyres so looked like I might make a no-stopper. Leaders pitted (the NSX twice) and I found myself in the lead in the last few laps. Unfortunately I was half a lap of fuel short (still on AT so no short shifting) and didn't think a leaner fuel mix would get me to the line. Pitted at the end of lap 11, came out 4th 10secs behind the GTR but managed to pass the Supra in the final sector for my first podium.

Think I can figure out manual shifting on the dualsense (can't find a comfy config) I can finally win this and put it to bed - I do my grinding at Sardegna.

PS - I know the time is slow, I AM slow. Very nearly Captain Slow.

Finished off a race at Sarthe with Priaino's RSR, very nice car/tune. Tuned Exeter's '84 GTO up to 700 and ran it 4 times at Sarthe trying to get 3 laps out of the fuel mapping. I finally succeeded, but have a different version of the car to try and do the same with.

Opened this wonderful 3-star. GT7's definition of a cock-tease.

I only started using MT on controller with GT7. I use R2 and L2 to change up & down, using X for throttle and O for brake. I have a wheel & pedals now, but still use controller now and then. If you can, get a wheel. I found it makes a big difference, not only to lap times, but it make the game more immersive. The paddle shifts are easy, and you have pedals, so your fingers aren't trying to do 3 things at once.
Keep at it. You'll get it.

Did some more Gr 3 Enduros based off the GT League from Sport. Bathurst was uneventful but Dragon Gardens was extreme with an Orange level downpour about a third of the way in.

Got the M6 Enduro model (coincidentally) from a 3 Star, so I decided to knock out that Scape Trophy.

OK, mini rant here......what i did today is bash my nuts on the 787B at Circuit de la sarthe doing the online sport time trial.

I still feel very slow only getting a 3:25min on LeMANS and probably wont get any better, I ranked 6007th or something in the ranking boards.

Oh well keep chuggin one day ill see a trophy lol.

Got a 3 star roulette ticket and won some usless camsahfts for a BRZ...a BRZ....really!!

Did about an hours worth of Circuit Experience and enjoyed the money boost. I golded the sections I didn’t expect to.

On a different note, I started the game “ art of rally “ on my Switch. Decided “what the heck” and entered the online daily after about 20 minutes of seat time. The result? Third globally lol. It’s one of those games that makes the hours fly by. Super cute on the outside, hardcore on the inside.

On the GTP account late yesterday, I went and did the Week 11 WRS at Daytona with the Corvette Gr.4. Today, I did the Sardegna Tomahawk Curb Stomp, lapping everybody except 2nd and 3rd, and getting the time down to 25:40. The 3-star Wheel of Despair wasn't the usual low-cash prize, but a 2015 Honda Civic (which means I now have 2).

I'm too tired to work the Plus account today/tonight.

I was also really disappointed with the M4, one of the cars which was almost undriveable for me on stock tcs0 or 1 (never go higher).

Lucky for us, the master @praiano63 has crafted 2 excellent tunes that tame it:

600pp
BMW M4 '14 - 600PP - Sport Soft tires - All track / Gears Nordschleife

700pp
BMW M4 '14 - 700PP - Sport Soft tires & Racing tires - Nurburgring Nordschleife

(haven't used 700pp tune after last update or 2, but assume it still delivers the goods...)

I tried the Nordschleife Circuit Experience with the wheel last night, and I did manage to Bronze it comfortably. The important thing, however, was that it was alot of fun, and driving the Nordschleife in GT for the first time with a wheel was amazing. In terms of time, I wasn't miles off a Silver, though I think Gold is a fairly remote possibility. That first sector is tough, though even at this early stage I'm quite a bit faster with the wheel than with the controller.

I also delved into the world of tuning for the first time in many years, using @praiano63's tune for the BMW M3 GT2 '11 to see how it improved the handling of the car around the Nurb GP circuit. Of course, it's not possible to compare the car directly to the stock car, but I could feel the difference and will try using that car for Gr. 3 races, not least as it is the car from which my replica wheel is from :D

-

This might go without saying, but playing with a wheel has another fundamental difference insomuch as I feel like I've had a proper workout after running for 100-200 miles with it. I finished just after 11 pm last night and felt like I'd been in the gym - a bit sweaty and my arms, legs and neck all felt like they had been in action, which is a far cry from how I normally feel after playing GT. In other words, I'm glad I opted for a driving rig over an exercise bike...

I thought about it but I’m saving up for a PSVR2, don’t think I want to shell out on both. Hopefully the Dualsense pro rumours are true, that might solve the issues with the back paddles.
