I again have to disagree with you on this ...
Look at this post please to see Sony advertise again or still ... an incomplete product.

Yes, that certainly does muddy the waters. I have been basing my understanding of Gran Turismo's functionality on what is published on gran-turismo.com, rather than a reseller's site. However, when that reseller is another division of the same corporate conglomerate that produces the game, then that looks really bad.

I was unaware of this. I think it is time to contact store.sony.com to encourage them to get their act together and describe the product correctly.
---------------------------
Edit: If you care about the future of Gran Turismo, then let's try to address this. Here are two actions I am taking to be part of the solution, and not part of the (GT-reputation-damaging) problem.

First, go to the Sony Store feedback site and ask them to correct their product description and align it with the official description at gran-turismo.com. Here is the link https://sony-store.custhelp.com/ci/documents/detail/5/70

Second, and maybe this is easiest for North American members, call 1-800-345-SONY (1-800-345-7669). This is the contact number you'll find if you drill down from the US version of the gran-turismo.com site. Call them and ask them to ensure that all their resellers have an accurate description of the current scope of GT6.

For those of you outside the US, you may be able to find local numbers, or use the above US one. The hours are:-
Mon - Sun 6:00AM - 10:00PM Pacific. (Average Wait Time: Up to 15 Minutes)

Good luck. Together we can get this improved! With enough of us bugging them via the website and phone, they'll get the message!
--------------------------------------
Edit: Here is the message I sent at the link above, and I provided my phone number in the space provided, with a request for a call. Please join me.

I am very concerned about the damage being done to the reputation of the Gran Turismo franchise by sales channels inaccurately describing the GT6 product. This has happened at amazon.com and even happens here at http://store.sony.com/gran-turismo-6-zid27-PS398296/cat-27-catid-All-PlayStation3-Games

At that link, you'll see the following description:-

Features
Largest Collection of Vehicles
New Physics Engine
Course Maker
Online Race Organizer
Mobile Device Compatibility

If you visit the official Gran Turismo website description at http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt6/ you will see that Course Maker, Online Race Organizer and Mobile Device functionality are all described as FUTURE functionality, not part of the current product being sold at the Sony Store and others.

The result of these miscommunications is that there is a vocal community at the world's largest Gran Turismo fan forum site who are extremely, and very publicly angry. They use terms like "ripped off" and "boycott", and take actions such as setting up surveys to assess whether these long term fans will buy GT7 (a majority are saying NO).

GT6 is getting a reputation for over-promising and under-delivering, and the sales channels, including Sony, are part, or most of the problem.

I would really appreciate it if you would get back to me on this issue. Thank you very much

A game doesn't have to have all possible features ever to qualify for a ten out of ten. The Last of Us got tens from a lot of places. That doesn't mean that there isn't stuff that could be added that would make it even better, it just means that it's such a high quality experience already that it would simply be adding more goodness to goodness.

A game can never be perfect, and that's not what a ten signifies. I think of a ten as a game that pretty much every gamer should play, regardless of whether they like that genre or not. Most game reviewers class it as something similar. They do not class 10/10 as a perfect game.

If you think of it as a ten being "must play" and a 1 being "do not play ever", then it makes total sense to have features added to an already 10 of 10 game. It also makes sense how people could consider GT6 a 10/10 already, the features that are available now are enough for them to consider it a must play.

Your'e right, I just have a nasty habit of taken things (especially numbers) far too literally. But in talking about GT6, I think (some of) the future features are quite a large part of the actual game itself, different to say DLC in TLOU (which was released as a finished product). B-Spec is a perfect example, especially considering it was already present in GT5.

Nothing wrong with giving 10 out of 10's to an unfinished/incomplete game, I just find it a little dubious and quite a different proposition to giving the same score to TLOU.

First up thanks for your complete reply and your concern which is shared by a lot of us here.
It is superb to see someone stand up and try to protect the reputation of the GT series. 👍

Please read this thread too : My GT6-story.
Because this is what happens to the every day fan of the series ...
You see it becomes available for pre-order ... you check the features ... and pre-order!
Only to check back in when your pre order becomes available at your shop ...
Because since GT2 every edition has been delayed ... so we are used to waiting.
You constantly refer to the PD/GT site as being correct, and that's true (now!).
I know what you say with this, but bear in mind that up to October the content of that site was different and promised features were shown as in-game on releasedate .. as it still is at the retailers sites ...
They just promised us stuff that still isn't released.

I really like what you did here and its good that someone does it ...
But the bigger problem behind it is that we pre-ordered something different from what we got when we received the game ... he/they violated our trust in the series ... and no I'm not whining because I love what I got ... but I feel screwed because he promised us so much more ... and we had so much more in GT5 already ... I see it as very bad judgement and even 'fraud' the way they treated us with this release ... with GT5 we had the same update ..wait...update ... sequence ... and I don't mind that ... but then it was then (GT5) clear from the moment we could pre order ... we knew where we were drawn into ... this time around (GT6) he/they did it in a dirty sneaky way ... about which i'm truly upset ... If a business associate of mine would do this IRL ... I would have a thorough discussion with him that this isn't what we agreed on ... and would draw up a plan to prevent this from happening in future business. And that is my main pain... we can't communicate about it with them and they don't inform us at all.

No I don't feel like making a legal issue out of this ... I just want to play ... but it sure hurts to feel screwed by the man/series/producer who's work you love so much ...

(I play a lot of games ... check my signature ... and I am used to waiting for the good games ...currently waiting for MGSV ... they too release an appetizer first (this week) before the real game comes out (September) .... with just 2 hours of game-play ... but we know this already ... well in time ... but none of the games I pre-ordered promised me so much and did not deliver, as GT6 did)

lets re-use a good FiFa marketing term : Fair Play !👍
Cheers mate! keep up that smile, I really like your posts around here! :gtpflag:

Thank you for the kind words.

Your post puts a lot into perspective. Thank you. When I pre-ordered, I did so maybe without closely studying the feature list or maybe it had been updated by that time. Either way, my satisfaction today is based on rather loose expectations combined with a patience born of long experience with software development.

Thanks.

BTW, ever noticed that patience is inversely proportional to days of future life expectancy? 💡

I honestly had to check this one with Google Translate :O ... but yes younger = impatient ...👍

But you can respond in a language I assume isn't your 1st, don't be embarrassed at all :). I'm English and still have no idea about our language at times (see the start of this post ) let alone any other.

This makes your long post above all the more impressive!

And thanks for going to the trouble to use Google translate!

I use it myself sometimes on old posts of mine that I can no longer understand. Sometimes i find a combination of "To:From" languages which provides a hint about what I might have been thinking. Not often enough.

Thank you, thats nice!
I work in IT ... pretty much every programming language or method is based on English ...and in my daytime job I communicate in English for 90% of the time with India and other countries for outsourcing of source code.... So English feels sometimes as if it is my native language ... but indeed it is Dutch.

We really should get back on topic here ... I still rate GT6 ... 7-8 ;)👍

I gave it 6-7; appreciate the new tracks, dynamic weather/night, but a little stale in my opinion
