Get both! GT3 is great but the relese day for GT4 is not completely certain and trust me you'll really enjoy GT3 you appreciated GT4 more with the extra practice

The only bad thing if you can call it one is that GT4 is gonna be many times better than GT3, and then you might think that it was a waste of time buying GT3 in the first place. But you would be very wrong if you did

I remember when GT1 and GT2 came out and renting both many many times but never really bought either. After the PS2 came out as well at GT3 I bought both and had no regrets but felt the choice of cars was not as great but everything else was awesome. I ended up buying GT2 about 6 months ago and I still enjoy it. I mean it may not be as good as GT3 in a lot of ways but they're two totally different games it seems like and I think you probably end up playing both equally if you truly do enjoy the GT series

Yes, spending time playing GT3 will tune you up for playing GT4. With 4 months to go, until November, you should just about be able to hit 100% before GT4 comes out.

As a helpful hint take a read of my compendium. It'll help you make decisions on what car to run.
