My oven is a simple one, just Bake and Broil options with specified temperature and timer. But Jai's could be a bit more complex.

Its a gas burner, so no preset options.

 It's 3am.

How many guys does it take to use an oven?

I think you shouldn't leave an oven on spewing gas all night whilst you and your parents are asleep. You should probably go wake one of them up and ask them.

And @ RB

LOL Post of the day!

With regards to the gas, most modern gas button are dual controls. Meaning, when you turn the knob, you press it down as well to activate the electrical spark which will set the gas alight.

Alternatively if it is a slightly older version (last 10-15 years ago), you need to bring a naked flame to the hob itself to light it.

Ideally, Jai should have learnt from his parents how to use the gas cooker in the first place.....

I've used our oven at home a number of times when home late, don't get what the problem is? Pick up the plate of dinner, open oven door, put plate in oven, close door, set number of minutes to cook for and wait for the ding....

My gear grinder today is, today. Car gone in for its MOT, was due to get a lift with a friend but she is off work with a cough / sneezing (sounds worse than man-flu...) but Dad is luckily on hand to help out. Get to garage, and that's when I can't find the locking wheel nut (brakes being changed too). After turning car inside out trying to find it, my final hope is to call another garage that I used for a service a month ago.
"We were wondering when you would call, yes we have it here with all of your details."
Didn't think to call then no? I mean, you have ALL OF MY DETAILS.... At least I wasn't calling from middle of nowhere with a puncture.
After sorting all of this out I'm running horrendously late for work, when I remember my security badge. Which I left in my car.

That was this morning, day getting worse, no hope of a happy Perry until 6pm at the earliest. Meh.

NFL Head Coach (video game). On the packaging it says its realistic. So I chose to be the head coach of the Colts so I had Peyton Manning. Anyway, through 11 games we were 10-1, then Peyton got a broken tibia injury and was out for the rest of the season, and Edgerrin James got injured too. Meaning Chad Hutchinson was my starting QB, and Ahman Green my new RB. So what happened? I won the next 7 games and lost the Conference final. So, how the 🤬 in a 'realistic' game win with Chad Hutchinson? I mean I have a great O-Line, have Antonio Gates, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne to throw to, but still, its crazy. And here I am, over-criticizing a video-game from 2007 :p.

SERIOUS vent now. Following on from before I've had to borrow a "trusted visitor" badge for the day (which didn't even let me get to my desk earlier). I go to leave the site so I can cash a cheque and get some money for lunch and the fricking thing doesn't work again! I speak to reception, they tell me to ask security to let me out and back in again. The ONLY door to the gatehouse is outside the site as well!

My horrendous day just became lunchless and its not like I needed the cheque to pay for the MOT work.

I turned the knobs all the way and it is still blowing gas out.

You want to burn your house down with a flame ball? Turn the damn thing off and let the gas escape the house. Next time ask your mom and dad to help with the burners. You can start a house fire if you don't pay attention to your cooking. Also if you don't pay attention to your cooking it will taste like coal anyways.

I did infact manage to use the oven last night, but ended up burning my hand and setting something on fire.

I've done that before...just gotta look back and laugh!

You need to do better than that! It's not that hard when you keep your hands off the hot things! I've burned my hand before but that's only when I noticed part of my hand was not covered by an oven pad and my palm touched the metal bar. It can happen once but it's a problem if it happens again!

I like setting stuff on fire. (That soundd odd I know but it is fun)

Fire can always make me happy as long as it isn't destroying something that is needed. When I see a swarm of insects in the driveway, I use fire and WD40 to kill them, if I'm bored I'll light leaves on fire and watch them burn. Campfires are the best, just the fire can bring a bunch around it and not have anyone say anything.

Greatings fellow Gear Grinders, allow me to tell you about the last few days....

Today I buried my mums cat, I grew up with him and he has been in our lifes for 14years.
I have loved this cat (spike, big ginger tom) since we got him when I was 11 years old.
This sucks and is upsetting me more than I thought it would.

Next is how I'm feeling today, I have a hangover (from saturday!!) and miss my family down south, we just got back from visting them yesterday and I didn't want to leave.

Today just feels like my family is slipping away from me and that is what Grinds my Gears!

So I go to the gym all ready to workout and the guy at the front says "Hi" like usual than for some reason ask me when I started my membership this year. I see this guy all the time, but figured maybe they are making changes or computer prob whatever. So I say in summer about 6 months ago. Than this guy says to me, "O that's been quite a while, making any gains?" (says it in kind of a rolls eyes cocky voice) I say to him ya been going alright. Than he says "Ya keep trying" something stupid like that. Totally in ragged me. I tried so hard not to snap on his ass. Like wtf are you asking me these questions, do I look like I have made zero progress? Is this what you are trying to get at? I have a big sweater on because it's winter so you can't even see any serious mass. Is it my fault the gym I go to is all 200lbs+ monsters that have been training for over 10+years? Totally ruined my workout. All I could do was think of why this guy would say this to me. It's been like 3hrs and I'm just as pissed. Worst part is I'm not sure if this guy was just asking to know for some strange reason or if he's being a dick and trying to say how I have made no progress. My chest is 12inches bigger around than my waist. Measure your selves and you will understand how massive that is. I have gained a considerable amount of weight and am at a lower body fat. Stupid old man makes me so mad.

Stick to ready meals. That's all I can say. And if you do food tech make sure your mum writes you a note excluding you from any practicals.

Can't beleive nobody said sorry to hear or anything, I know the feeling with the pet though. My dog was put down a few years ago who was 1 when I was born, and it really upset me. I don't even cry when someone dies unless they were young and had life ahead of them, and even though it was only about 5 minutes, I really did not expect to be that upsetted by it. We even knew it was coming.

What's grinding my gears now is that I keep thinking of my friend who was killed before school 4 years ago. Hit by a bus right out front. My friends and I talked about it the other day and every time its brought up I can't forget about it. I just wonder what if he wasn't, what would high school have turned him into?

That's a very sad story. May he RIP.

A very sad story indeed. May your friend rest in peace :(

And for you as well Madmike. Hope both of you guys get better soon.

EDIT: Something related: A month ago, a girl was struck by a truck on the street where my middle school is. The location was on a large intersection. It was during the night and she was wearing dark clothing, so the driver couldn't see him. It was not a hit-and-run however. The headline released a day later on our county newspaper. Quite tragic. The girl was only 14 years old :(

And sorry about what happened rb26x and elitedriver123. Events like what you describe are always sad to hear. :(
