@shem: Last Christmas? Never heard of it.

Rumble Strip > GTP Vs Wham! Round 2.

They should have a link in the OP, it's the only place that is neutral turf. Getting whammed in there doesn't count but if you don't know the song it'll be hard to play the game.

Those blurry window things made out of cubes, I have one in my shower, and there's a draft, so it's cold in the shower :(

Cubes? All I have is a blocked crystallized window beside the shower tub.

Greatings fellow Gear Grinders, allow me to tell you about the last few days....

Today I buried my mums cat, I grew up with him and he has been in our lifes for 14years.
I have loved this cat (spike, big ginger tom) since we got him when I was 11 years old.
This sucks and is upsetting me more than I thought it would.

Next is how I'm feeling today, I have a hangover (from saturday!!) and miss my family down south, we just got back from visting them yesterday and I didn't want to leave.

Today just feels like my family is slipping away from me and that is what Grinds my Gears!

Totally understand where you're coming from man. Earlier this year, my English cocker spaniel died in her sleep. She was 13 years old and we got her 10 years ago to help me overcome my fear of dogs. She did a spectacular job with that. I'm also happy she went away in the most peaceful way possible. We cremated her afterwards. I still miss her from time to time. Losing pets is always difficult.

Anyway, I've been watching this thread for quite sometime so now it's my turn. :)

What grinds my gears? Being a cashier for a grocery store called Kroger. It wouldn't be so bad if some of my customers weren't complete jerks. Almost everyday I get someone who manages to rub me the wrong way.

One Saturday, we had absolutely no more plastic bags, making everyone's job 10 times harder, so we were stuck with paper. I was doing express lane that day. So my last customer is this lady. First, she does something that really annoys me, coming into the express lane with way more than 15 items, which isn't fair to customers who really do have 15 or less. Now keep in mind, that I'm the only one who has paper bags, which she couldn't even see where she was standing from, so she couldn't do anything.

The last item is her gallon of milk, which is large, so I place on the platform next to me where the plastic bags would go so I can bag it after she finished paying. For whatever reason, she's going to assume I wanted her to bag her own milk and proceeded to give me an attitude about it. Um, lady. How the heck are you supposed to bag your own milk when there are no bags around you to begin with? :dunce:

Seriously one of the most stupid customers I ever had. Common sense is becoming more and more scarce. :ouch:

On a different day, another lady comes in my line and she has a package of candles along with some groceries. However, she puts the package of candles RIGHT in her mouth to hold them. So when she places them down to be scanned, there's saliva on it.

Grabbed the scanner gun to take care of it, but even afterwards, she didn't leave without giving me an attitude. Did her parents forget to teach her how to act like a decent human being out in public?Because it sure seems like it.

It also doesn't help that the inside of the store looks like 🤬. I've been to Krogers MUCH nicer than the one I work at. I've been working there for 2+ years and I'm quickly running out of patience for that place. God, I hope Barnes & Noble hires me soon before Christmas gets here...

The 🤬 occupy movement wants to try and gather support in order to harass Christmas shoppers.

This just boils my blood so much that no amount of censor smiles or associated rants can do it justice.

It's quite simply disgusting - it doesn't just grind my gears - it belches out the whole transmission in pieces from underneath the vehicle!

But on the plus side, I shouldn't have to worry too much because I can rest assured that the combination of malls being private property, combined with the wrath of shoppers all over, will ensure it gets dealt with promptly if they try anything funny.

Funny part is they complain about being poor when they don't even work! Get a job and contribute to society. You have 2 legs, 2 arms, and can walk; you can work.

Never heard of these people. I do agree with this though:
"I don't like this day," Lima said. "Everyone is addicted to shopping; they seek happiness through shopping."
Very true. A sad fact and it doesn't seem to be changing any time soon.

Thanks for all the kind words fellow Gear Grinders 👍

Other Gear Grinders this week,

My brother lost his job after only just getting it, he left his previous employer after being there for 4+ years, his new employer took him on knowing they would be laying him and others off 2months later, I mean, what kind of Scumbag do you have to be to do that?!
He will lose his job just before christmas...I'm gutted for him, but have no spare cash to help him out either. :(

Don't think I won't be stopping by next time I'm in Beijing to throw a chair through your office window!"

Call me up; I've got a large inventory in chairs AND tables.

So, at this point I'd just like to say a big

"**** YOU, Home Office UK Border Agency! **** YOU, you self-righteous, lazy pieces of S**T.

Don't think I won't be stopping by next time I'm in Beijing to throw a chair through your office window!"

And so ends my rant.

Is it bad that I laughed at the swearing?

I do think that these "restrictions" are ridiculous.

Mrs Shem had Heart radio on, a London station that plays a load of 80's crap. Couldn't avoid it. Wham! Got me.

This is why I only listen to talk radio stations. That, and nowadays they only seem to play the songs of crappy boybands.

Hmm... Sounds like our radio stations in Chatham. There is only one station that doesn't play pop or country, its a rock station .

What grinds my gears?

Mass boredom that has begun after it started raining.

^ It was absolutely lashing rain this morning where I live. To add to my woes, the electricity at my school was gone, and yet the teachers still kept us in. :grumpy: Surely that's a health and safety code violation?

^Its raining here too. Walked out of school, with no coat, and as a result Im conpletely drenched. :grumpy: But on a good note our new internet router should turn up tomorrow, so I can go back to browsing GTP properly.

I have a non-waterproof coat, so yeah, wasn't a good morning here either.

Having a big canker sore on my bottom lip that hurts so much I can barely eat or drink. I think I'm actually losing sleep because of this 🤬 thing. I get these things pretty often but this is one of the worst ones I've had in a while. I think college finals are doing it to me :-/

Oh my :scared:. I know about those from experience (used to get them a lot when I ate tomatoes every day. Don't ask)

Isn't there medication for those things?

I have only used basic over the counter stuff for those things (mostly just pain relief) but I've never really had success with any of them. I found something called the "canker patch", which was a gel patch you put over it and it was supposed to get rid of it in like 2 days. It was a pain to live with and it really only worked for me the first time.

TL;DR, I'm screwed :)

Moving on.

Today was not the best. Far from it in fact.

I'd been planning to take my wife to the UK for a long time now and everything was in order we just needed to get her visa back from the application centre in Beijing, which arrived today.

Entry denied.

Why? Well the person who reviewed the application was a complete idiot evidently and failed to make even the slightest efforts to contact the listed sponsors and references, on top of that they failed to even study the right documents sent and used the excuse that the supporting documents were insufficient to back up the application.

I know another one here, maybe F1fan had a similar issue, it's 🤬 ludicrous.

I no have 2 options, make other plans to fly at a later date and resend the application with more documents giving the no reason at all to refuse, or go alone, which is the most likely option as it's such short notice to when I'll be flying.

So, at this point I'd just like to say a big

"**** YOU, Home Office UK Border Agency! **** YOU, you self-righteous, lazy pieces of S**T.

And so ends my rant.

Yup. I know the feeling. This country is a disgrace.

For those not in the know, I am getting married to a Japanese citizen. I was born in the UK, but the UKBA(uk border agency) have such ridiculous criteria that I'm looking at having to leave the country to be with my wife to be.

It's not the option I chose, it's the only option for me. Day after day, people waltz into this country with criminal records and claim housing and benefits. But once again, people who were born here get screwed. In the immediate future, I may be leaving the UK. In a few years, I will have left this 🤬 for good.

By the way Shem, you could try what I am doing. Send a very wordy email to Damian Green (Immigration minister), Nick Clegg and David Cameron. I've a good mind to go to the media as well.

No it's not really a violation. The power went out during the class in economics and he said it's not free time and he moved to the chalkboard. Even when I went to a tech school on the second half of the school day we sat around and had us go over IT review when the power was out.

This is the same radio station that I got whammed on too! *Internet high five*

Not getting a day off for the public sector strikes grinds my gears. Teachers, Y U NO STRIKE?

Shut up. :grumpy: On a much lighter note, I have Internet back. :D. Back to spending all my life on :gtplanet:

This is grinding my gears:
It stopped raining around 4th period today in school. It hasn't rained all day, even at the end of the day after 9th period and when I walked out of the school. Got down to the skatepark parking lot to meet up to walk home with my friend, and it started drizzling. By the time we were on our street the wind was blowing heavily and it was raining hard. It sucks.

Also, Christmas gifts. I know what my mom and dad want, but no idea what to get my girlfriend.
