^That sucks! Air travel can be really stupid sometimes. Nice that you can take your guitar though. :)

I know. I sure as hell wasn't going to let a baggage handler throw my les paul around.

Reminds me of the baggage handlers in Come Fly With Me.

Airports make you uncomfortable, nervous, annoyed, and in the mood to forget it and go home.

Depending on the flight I take, I'll either have a stopover in Amsterdam or Dubai. At least I'll be able to have a smoke before I get back on the plane. Non smokers do not understand the sheer hell that air travel is for smokers.

Haven't seen it, but I can imagine.

Do you think a place with stock like this would let me in?

No. Not unless they were particularly friendly. They know you just want to look at the cars, and given the value, I doubt they'd let you in.

Edit:
Wouldn't let anyone like this anywhere near my guitar.

Wanting to visit a car dealership, but not wanting to be told to go away like the last time I went to one.

Yes. As long as on the way there you magically become a rich jerk , get a Bluetooth in your ear to look important, pull in to the parking lot with a car equivalent in value too those, and wear a suit.

Also, to top off my earlier rant, some guy drove right past my house in a Corvette that is my favorite car in GT5 in my favorite factory color that is offered on the Corvette.

Also, I have to go out to eat when I'd rather not eat today.

Go for it. I think used exotic car dealers are a bit nicer than new exotic car dealers. Also, it never hurts to try, as some dealers are nice and others are gits. I know this from experience.

Unless you are chauffeured up in a Rolls-Royce, have a father who's also a billionaire, and a large bank account, then no.:(

Its your choice to become legally addicted to fags. That's your problem.

Additionally, its still hell for people to be cooped up with strangers for however long the flight is, regardless of whether they're gasping for a fag/drink/see long lost loves.

Yes. It is my choice. I am fully aware of that. But I didn't ask for a lecture from you. And before you start whining about smokers, think again, because if it wasn't for us smokers, the tax you pay on petrol would be far higher than it already is.

Banning smoking on aeroplanes actually saves the carriers a hell of a lot of money, and it has subsequently been detrimental to all of our healths.

I agree that smoking should be banned on airplanes. I am also of the opinion that if most airports had smoking rooms, there would be far fewer idiots trying to sneak a smoke on the plane.

Edit: I must say that I love the attitude displayed by non smokers towards smokers. I smoke in my own home and do my best not to inconvenience others with my habit. Therefore, whenever I smoke, if someone walks past me, I look away from them when I exhale.

What I find annoying about it is the lectures on the evils of smoking from those not even young enough to smoke. It would be so funny if I found out in a few years that some of them smoke.

I don't know. I want to go to the new McLaren dealer that just opened up. Saw a Senna F1 car replica.

I agree too.

But during the days of smoking on planes, the cabins were better ventilated. The smokey air was sucked out and fresh air pumped in. This was an extra strain on the engines and fuel consumption. Now that smoking is banned, they no longer circulate the cabins, and save around 1-2% on annual fuel consumption. Which is a lot, in the grander scale of things.

I am a non-smoker; never tried smoking, never wanted to try smoking. But if you want to smoke, knock yourself out. It's your choice. It's simple; don't blow it directly in my face, and I won't lecture you about it. I have friends who smoke. We're adults, and we're adult about it. They smoke in their own homes and I have no problem with that, but they also respect that they smoke outside in my home. When we're out and about, they smoke where they want, when they want. The only thing I ask in that case is that they don't blow the smoke towards me.

And as a general rule, smoke is blown out of anybody's car windows in the interest of cabin health.

The rules and what you do in your own home are just that; your own. It's up it you.

But it can get tiring being lectured about smoking. Especially when the person doing the lecturing is a minor who has no experience of real life. I actually started out smoking cigars. A friend bought me one when I left school. I would smoke cigars when I had an occasion to celebrate. One night while a little drunk, I was handed a cigarette and it escalated from there.

I'm not proud of the fact that I smoke and I go out of the way to avoid incoveniencing others. I always abide by the house rules wherever I am. However, I don't like to be lectured on the subject.

It's probably in a museum or McLaren headquarters.

All originals will be locked away in the McLaren collection. Very rarely are real cars that were actually driven displayed.

Some twit has dumped a load of road salt in one spot (meaning you wheelspin as you reach the part of the hill where you need the most grip to not start sliding backwards) instead of spreading it evenly and sparingly. What a prize idiot.

I'm pretty sure that the F1 cars in the McLaren headquarters are the real thing.

At least I've found an airline that will let me take my guitar on board though. :D

Bring a battery operated pocket guitar amplifier with a headphone slot and you can play away to your hearts content, even if you are trying to smoke in the toilets. :sly:

I mean the genuine cars only get displayed at McLaren HQ or at very select showings. The cars we see at Autosport, etc, are mock-ups.

Well, I'd love to be able to play on the plane, but I'm pretty sure that for the duration of the flight, it will be locked away in a coat room. I can live with that though. Just too bad that I won't get to carry anything else onboard other than a magazine I buy after airport security.

Should've known to go with a dutch airline after hearing Bill Bailey's comments on taking a guitar to Holland.

Customs officer What is that?
Bill Bailey It's a guitar
Customs officer No it's not, it's a flying v.

There's a Porsche Dealership not too far from me.

I wasn't lecturing you.

I was only pointing out that it was your choice to smoke something that was legally addictive.

That was it.

It wasn't a lecture.

A lecture would have been me TELLING you that SMOKING IN ANY ENVIRONMENT IS BAD AND YOU KILL JESUS EVERY TIME YOU DO IT!!!! (sarcastic tone)

Personally, my view is as long as I am in the UK, you are more than welcome to smoke in your own place that you are currently renting/own/living in or in public. As soon as it is in a place where the government has decreed it to be "illegal" to smoke in, it is not ok or my place.

However, I was in Shanghai for 7 months. I didn't care if people smoked in the bar, restaurant or whatever, because that was the custom in Shanghai and China. In my own apartment, that was smoke free. But outside, anything goes and I was happy with it, even though I don't like the smoke.

I tolerate it.

I also lived with housemates at uni who smoked and they always looked after their smokes before the smoking ban came into effect.

One thing that is grinding my gears at the present moment, is a 1st world problem. No-one seemingly is interested in doing anything atm.

I drive 20 minutes then there is s Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, and McLaren dealer. ;)

The Beeching Axe grinds me gears. It was poorly thought out, poorly executed and has had a long lasting, negative effect on British railways.
