I really don't know. I'm of the younger age group so everyone on Facebook just posts the most dumb things I've ever heard of. It doesn't help that half of the people I know on Facebook fit the "dumb blonde" stereotype.

What Grinds My Gears? Dark humor. I was on Halo Reach last night and we promoted a guy to leader in our Custom Games lobby. He then put on a 9/11 Reenactment map on where you had to blow the twin towers up. When we all started telling him how that wasn't cool at all (keep in mind one of my friends had a friend's dad die in 9/11) he started telling us to grow up and get a sense of humor. I'm sorry, but am I missing something here? Since when has nearly 3,000 people being murdered in cold blood been funny?

The Fact that the 360 turns on just by brushing over one of the sensors. Really wish Microsoft would have made it a tad less sensitive.

It's more annoying when it turns off.

Should've just stayed with normal buttons.

What really annoys me is how expensive the 600mL bottle of Coke is. At a supermarket or a dairy (convenience store for those Stateside) a 1.5L of Coke is $3.30, the 2.25L is $4.00 while the 600mL is $3.50! I despise people who buy the 600mL. It's cheaper to get the drink that's got more than double the 600mL.

The hell?!

Pretty sure you could go on and on about how much fuel is per litre in some places in NZ bro....however, what grinds my gears is how critical some people are of the All Blacks, especially after that Tonga game....

I don't even support rugby, just decided to change my avatar (I'll probably change it back now ). I think the biggest fail of the night was the Public Transport not working.

The funny thing is I'm not surprised - Auckland Transport is 🤬

Meh, only Auckland :sly: (seriously miffed that Christchurch lost its games, was looking forward to going to watch the RWC in my hometown :grumpy:)

Public transport that works but is full of unpleasant to be around people (ever been to Darwin, Australia?) is a gear grinder....

I've got a story to tell about the pathetic, ill mannered people that live in Adelaide.

So I'm driving along a dual carriage way in the right hand lane, and behind me is a blue, mid 1980's Ford Laser in the left lane. Now we're going along for about 500 metres when she (young female, P plates) decides to speed up and sit next to me, I thought "Okay she has intentions to cut me off, clearly going in behind me is too difficult" so I gave it some toe and sat just infront of her, then she speeds up and her back wheel is level with my front 1/4 panel when she just starts heading over into my lane, I was forced to brake hard to avoid a collision and I blasted the horn at the stupid dog. Of course as always, her and the passenger gave me the middle finger and swearing etc.. so by this time I'm pretty angry as I hate idiots that pull dangerous stunts like that on public roads. So I gunned it and sat next to her, rolled my window down and said a few choice words among asking her if shes blind. Then I done the same back to her, just swerved over infront of her and slammed the brakes on, she tooted her horn and I moved back into the left lane and then she and her passenger gave me a mouthful. See.. don't like having it done back to them do they?

The problem is alot of people on the roads lack respect, consideration and just cannot seem to grasp the meaning of the word safety, nor do they realize that doing stupid things like that can be fatal. With her cutting my braking space down to literally less than a foot is potentially fatal. Had something have come across her path forcing her to brake hard I would have rear ended her doing over 60 km/h.

Please if you're the type of person that cuts people off, weaves in and out of traffic and does alot of other pathetic things on the road then think about this.. what if your family was killed in an accident caused by some crazy idiot?

The point I'm trying to get across is use your brain, adhere to ALL traffic rules and be safe!! I know when you're young you want to drive like a race driver and think that your top stuff but at the end of the day you just make yourself look like a tool.

Yeah, dangerous move there, you don't know if she has the abilities that you have, and you might have caused an accident. Just learn to roll with the punches.

I'd say, my mate paid $6.90 for a 2.25 liter when we were listening to the rock 1000. It's just ridiculously overpriced!

I've had even worse just past weekend. Travelling into town on a one way street into the city and a guy pulls out and turns left and starts going head on at me, luckily he realised and darted into another street.

What's worse is that he was from the same state as me, if he was interstate I'd cut him some slack. But come on, use a god damn GPS or something.

That is without a doubt the most ludicrous, stupid and hypocritical post I have ever read on any form.

So because a girl with a P PLATE (which I imagine means a learner?) cuts you off it's somehow right you do it back? I mean that's sound logic right there. When you see a learner driving (the reason they put those bloody signs on the back of cars) your suppose to give them extra room. What you should have done is slowed right down and YOU should have gotten in behind her.

Then to top it off you endanger her, her passenger's, and your own safety but cutting infront of her and slamming on the brakes. Not only did you make yourself look like an idiot on the road you've quite convinced me that your in that pool of bad drivers. Not a smart move and not a smart decision to come here and complain about your mistake either.

L plate is a learner, P plate is a restricted driver (like can't carry more than 3 passengers, can't exceed certain speeds, penalties for drink driving, etc are higher).

I have found tho, and my god this will sound sexist, it's those P plater chics that have been the most wreckless on the road. My brother and I nearly had one total idiot run into the side of us without even looking in Brisbane not too long ago....

Depends on the state but it goes like this:

L - Learner (6 months in the NT, 100 hours logged in QLD, not sure what the timeframe is elsewhere)
P - Provisional (2 years generally, NT it's the same colour, QLD iirc changes from green to red or vice versa)
Open - Fully licensed.

'Just passed' I think the P is for.

I'm not getting involved in the battle going on between posters here, it's the gear grinding thread after all!!!

I've got nothing to complain about today, apart from the usual but you've all heard it before.

Whats with you guys calling me hypocritical? I don't stand for any bull dust on the road or off it.. if you upset me I'll give you the same back.

I have nothing against her being a female, or a P plater but the point I was making by pointing out she was a female P plater was that shes clearly inexperienced and well.. if I'm honest rather lackadaisical. Unless you're trying to say that because she's female I'm supposed to sit back and say "oh well, that's fine for you to cause an accident because you're a woman" Sorry but I don't let that stuff fly. I don't care what gender someone is, you hurt me I hurt you back, you bully me or cause me problems I'll cause you even bigger problems back.. that's how I roll. I treat women with more respect than any guys I know in person. This is what I mean.. what really "grinds my gears" people that think I should stand down and take it because shes female, I really don't care.

Don't be calling me hypocritical. Maybe I just like to stick up for myself and show people I don't take their bullying, childish minded tactics. :)

Cutting someone off to show them a lesson doesn't make it any less dangerous.

I don't think the police would be to fond of "She started it." when you're being interrogated on your stretcher.

Hypocrisy
The practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense

And that is exactly what you did.

Just because you did it out of spite doesn't make it safe or smart, and I'd even go as far as saying it makes it even worse.

I don't believe anyone here is is criticizing you for doing what you did because she was a female or a "P" driver. They are calling you a hypocrite because you came on here and complained about her driving habits, and you went and did worse than what she did. Lets suppose a criminal broke into my house and stole my TV. If I applied your method, I would go break into his house and rob him, but instead I wouldn't just take his TV, I'd take his entertainment system too.

No, the correct thing to do is let the people who enforce the law uphold it. Not to become John Wayne and try to enforce it yourself and possibly cause more harm than anyone.

My two cents.

No sorry, what she did was far more dangerous as I am a far more experienced driver than her and I know every capability of my vehicle and was fully aware of her intentions.

And as you mention about people of the law you mean the Police.. well mate, if you lived where I live I'm sure you'd agree the Police here really have no idea. American Police know what they're doing but Australian ones just don't care, anyone will tell you that so reporting anything to them is nothing more than a hopeless waste of time as they tell you "Thanks alot, we'll look into it" and most of the time you never hear anymore about it.

My aim was not to cause her harm (although I wasn't and still don't care if I did) but to scare her and get her thinking "maybe what I done was stupid" now that shes had it back to her, she knows how I felt.

I'm loving this....go rob the robber and steal his TV and everything else because he stole your TV? What a crap analogy, as stated the actions of the poster were equal to the actions of the offending party. You guys are just so bloody uptight sometimes...

Yeah, we're pathetic and ill mannered because one person cut you off and was a jerk about it. Your response made you no better then they are, infact worse.

So you're taking what he's said as EVERYBODY not certain individuals? Australians grind my gears :dopey: *

* Note, this is just a joke, lighten the hell up would ya?

Yes! Awesome sense of humour. (Not being sarcastic)
